One warning I'd probably give to people is that those with a sensitivity to violence against animals may want to look elsewhere; there is no shortage of dogs and horses dying in pretty gnarly ways.

At this rate, I should be done by Sunday or Monday. Things are really beginning to move along now, with more questions being presented than answers.

Corban and his family are one of the most loveable, functional families I have ever seen in an epic fantasy. I would be royally ticked if they start Game of Throning characters in this.

Been waiting a good long while to finally delve into this series, and to start a brand new epic fantasy series in general. I've heard nothing but praise about this quintet and John Gwynne in general, and if the other 653 pages are just as fun and well written as the first 19 pages, then I'm in for a great read here.

The careful build-up to the reveal of the creature and the following revelations were fantastic!

I wasn't expecting the Russian mafia story to be such a huge part of the story, but it created an extra layer of tension beyond that of the mysterious lights in the lake.

The few glimpses of the alien thus far have bend super intriguing as well. Reanimating the corpse of a bear and then controlling it from the inside like a hand puppet was a pretty cool effect.

Right from the single page prologue I knew that I was instantly hooked, and the 21 pages that followed were well done and set up a decent setting, complete with the potential for a Russian mafia amidst all the eventual monster chaos that is sure to come.

Crazy that I'm over halfway done with the book now, yet have barely made it halfway through the first movie.

Obviously a book intended for children as it reads so simply and in a childlike manner, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it's quite different from Lord of the Rings in contrast.

Just about done here. Sanderson has an indelible knack for writing explosive finales, but so far this has been somewhat lukewarm compared to literally everything else that I've read or his. I guess this series isn't talked about as much for a reason.

Only Sanderson could construct a moving city made of salt and explain it in such a way that makes it both believable and easy to understand without overly simplifying it.

Starting a Brandon Sanderson book is always a treat. Finishing this trilogy has long been on my to-do list, but for whatever reason I have a problem where I will read two of three books from a trilogy and then just stop, leaving the whole mess unsolved.

Well I break that curse with Reckoners Book 3 as my final book to 2022!

In some ways, I could understand the villains motives for what they done throughout the book. I don't necessarily agree with how they achieved it, but it definitely fell into a grey area.

You ever finish a reading session on a chapter where something pretty significant happened to a character that made you feel bad for closing the book despite being physically unable to read any further?

The reveal of the loup-garou and the battle that followed was incredible. Couldn't help but picture it looking like a brown/black version of the werewolf from 'An American Werewolf in London'.
