The Topeka, Kansas account easily had the most impact so far; they could easily make entire seasons based off just a single chapter alone if they wanted to.

Going to put this on hold for a bit. As solid as the series started, I am beginning to grow tired of the constant politicking. I may be in the minority nowadays when it comes to epic fantasy, but I like there to be fantasy elements in my fantasy. This trend of "Small-scale skirmishes and war room discussions over magic, dragons and fantastical creatures" is growing very old and rigid at this point.

Suffering book 2 syndrome with this one so it's taking longer than anticipated to get through. I was really hoping some of the more fantastical elements would start popping up more, but it's still leaving heavily on politicking and courtly antics.

Still hooked though.

Awkward 30-something year old protags, a mysterious beast in the hills of California, an insanely intelligent golden retriever and a serial killer that seems disconnected from it all.

I am already hooked. I gave never read a book from Koontz, but if all his work is as well written as this, then I will definitely be picking up more of his books in the future.

That first chapter was intense! Big beasty in the woods and heroic doggo!

Episode 2.5! I just finished Jedi Fallen Order and want to keep this Star Wars high just a little bit longer. So far it has be really interesting seeing the fallout from the events of The Empire Strikes Back.

Sometimes it's nice to step back and read simpler books that don't require the constant mental workouts that more advanced writers offer us. This thus far has been just that; Not nearly as childish as The Hobbit, but not quite on the level of Redwall either- At least not yet anyway.

The final stretch now.

This book is almost every bit as good as the first. Nicholas Eames may be my new favorite author.

I'm gonna burn through this in a few days, I can already feel it.

That's not fair.

I plan to have it done by Tuesday or Wednesday next week depending, then I will jump into my next horror novel.

Saw a bit of the movie and it struck a chord, so I picked up the book knowing it'd be far better, and likely more gut wrenching than whatever ultimately happens in the stories conclusion.

The dog. I can already sense that bad things are going to happen to the dog.
