It seriously has felt like not a single page has been wasted. Something interesting is always happening.

Really glad that I decided to resume this series; The second book made good on a lot of the gripes I had with the first book.

I am so, so glad that I returned to this series. The twists that are occurring and the concepts that are being introduced are things I haven't seen some in fantasy outside of video games. Not even Sanderson has touched some of these ideas despite the heavy RPG influences in his series.

Nothing like finding your way back into a familiar world in an epic fantasy series.

My next big read! The second book in the Darkwater Legacy series. I read Ember Blade last year, something that I didn't initially care for at time of completion, but have since come around on.

That said, Arin and Fen. The one-sided romance. I love this stuff.

Now this is more like it!

Dropping this. It reads like a bloody young adult novel and the characters are stupidly annoying. Cosmic horror or not, I am not subjecting myself to any more of this.

Interesting intro. Absolutely nothing weird yet, other than the book taking place in North Carolina. All the mentions of familiar locales was odd to me for some reason.

Gonna be sad to see this one end.

Such an odd, intriguing book. Nothing about the title cover screams "creature-feature", and if they didn't include the prologue, the first appearance of said creature would be almost completely out of the left field.

My plans this year are to read more Brandon Sanderson books and longer, 500+ page books in general, which mainly means catching up on more epic fantasy series. So less books than last year, but bigger longer reads in general.

This is going to be a special one, I can already tell.

But finish I must, and finish it I shall. Hopefully by Tuesday.

Topping the year off with one last horror tale, this time going back to my third favorite horror sub-genre: Cosmic Horror

Gotta admit, this has some wildly unexpected origin stories for ol' Santy Claus.

Santa with a broad sword, demons, corrupt police and mafia. This book has just about everything.

What started out as a cute little book that gave some serious 70s/80s Disney vibes quickly turned something that has made me feel uncomfortable reading at times.
