Now THIS is the Werewolf story I wanted.

Unless the ending is a real jaw-kicker, this isn't as horrifying as I expected. That or I am just desensitized.

I don't know why it took so long for me to get around to reading these books. This is fun as heck.

Only the beginning of the huge 200+ book Dragonlance universe.

Was really craving some quiet, comfy reading with little stakes. With the spooky season coming up my reading material is going to consist of monsters and gore for the next two months.

I simply cannot wait for the TV adaption of this book series.

Okay... I will always recognize LOTR as a classic, for that there is no doubt. And I will be eternally grateful for the modern classics that it inspired. BUT, like Who Goes There, the way the book is written is just too wordy and long-winded and, quite frankly, juvenile. Tolkien's prose is a mess and chapters just stretch on forever with very little payoff.

I think I am going to drop it.

The council chapter was as long as some novellas that I've read! That was ridiculous, but a necessary if not a tad too large of an info dump.

Already off to a crazy start, with giant monster action and catgirls, somehow.

Aragorn finally makes his entrance!

It's been a good long while since I read such a meaty book; Not since Stormlight 4 came out have I made such a trek through a tome such as this. I may have to wedge another, shorter book in at some point so that this becomes the 100th book I've read upon completion.

Making the first half of the book read like a medical journal with the horror side of things slowly assimilating with the story itself is honestly quite genius and not something I think I would have picked up on had I not played the kinda-sequel first.

Deciding to start this in the middle of a hefty thunderstorm was a good idea.

It's remarkable how much more enjoyable this book is when Bryce isn't involved.

Bryce, the male lead, is an insufferable do-no-wrong, everyone in town loves, white knight and has by the worst aspect of the book. Thankfully, the lore and gore are more than good enough to make up for how awful the main character is.

I am going to need one heck of a sugary-sweet palate cleanser after this one, because holy crap is this living up to the extreme horror genre.

This has been one of the most uncomfortable reade I have ever picked up. Oh my god.
