I love that these books take place in the distant future and the emoticons are already dated.

I got all excited because he started talking about smart sharing, but he quickly went back to talking about how ugly buildings increase murder rates or whatever ridiculous thing.

Seriously? She's like, "I hacked the comm and we only have seven minutes to talk! This is serious make it quick!...jokes, jokes, jokes, so how's your mom? Tell her I said hi."

Nobody acts like this. "Lol, I might get charged with espionage...let's shoot the shit like we're bored and texting in class."

This book is so stupid.

Don't teenagers find it insulting to be portrayed this way? "omg, we will totally bicker when we're about to die in the middle of a catastrophe because what are priorities?" I'm pretty sure teenagers can cut the crap when shit gets real.

I find the research in this book questionable. It seems like he will pull from just about anywhere to support his conclusions, and a lot the time it seems like a pretty clear case of false causation.

I also feel like he's doing a lot of work to try to convince me, the reader, that I'm unconsciously afraid of things I'm pretty confident don't faze me a bit.

Ugh, I really wish the author could decide if he's going to stick with a person's first or last name when referring to them because this is too many people to keep track of and I keep being like, "Wait, who is this?"

"The ceremony...required Hubbard to channel the female deity of Babalon as Parsons preformed the 'invocation of wand with material talisman' - in other words, masturbating on a piece of parchment. He typically invoked twice a night."

lol, this author's a real comedian.

I hope at some point she explains why she still uses the term "the Patriarchy" to refer to the powers that be, when by her own admission, women aren't really the target anymore, and, in fact, participate in the system almost as much as men do.

Wow, it is really important not to look into an exploding atomic bomb because it might vaporize the inside of your eyeballs. Or give your eye doctor a really cool mushroom-cloud shaped blind spot to look at.
