She keeps talking about how her brain injury cured her depression but I'm just not really sure that it works that way.

Reviews seem a bit torn on this one and I can see why. I'm glad to be back in the world and learning more about Grey but I'm also struggling a bit with the differences from the first one. We'll see.

Listening to Michelle talk about the hope and excitement she saw on inauguration day and trying not to cry.

I don't think I've ever heard a teen use the term 'whip-smart'. Also, would they let a high school in conservative Idaho Falls put on the play Into the Woods? I'm not entirely sold on that idea. But otherwise, I'm actually really loving this.

Probably shouldn't be reading this when I'm already exhausted and emotional. It's getting a bit sad.

That decision and how it was made feels so out of character. Aaslo has been so consistent and dependable and smart but that was just weird. I know there's a reason it was done the way it was but the whole interaction felt rushed. After so much time, I had hoped for more from that moment.

Some sections of this book fly by and some are so slow. I wish the pacing were a little more even and all of the characters interested me as much as the others.

Well that was extremely predictable.

"My feet could have worn his feet a shoes and still have had plenty of room." Well. That's weird. And kind of a creepy way to describe his feet.

"We stood there, holding each other together, while something inside me began to mend. When I'd first come here, I'd been looking for someone I thought I'd lost. I had no idea I should've been looking for myself. "

"And with that, Astrid had given me a pretty decent lesson in navigating Christianity. Outside all the Bible Scriptures I hadn't bothered to read. Turned out, any sin could be justified with a certain level of entitlement."

This book is weird.

This feels almost like someone tried to copy Big Little Lies but couldn't quite get the family and friendship drama right. Or the ability to build really good suspense in the murder mystery aspect. It's ok but just a little boring.

So far it's more family/friends/relationship drama than murder mystery but the characters are interesting so I'm looking forward to reading more.
