Do 14 year olds really call their friends sweetheart? It sounds so condescending.

I don't understand this book. It goes from light & fluffy w/Sunshine flirting w/any guy she meets (while working) to moments from her own kidnapping to searching for missing teens to her daughter's crush to Sunshine's love interest being a total asshole to a rooster? I just don't get it. I thought it would use the current missing teens to help Sunshine deal w/her past but it's all over the place, I really don't know.

The lack of spacing between the different character's POV, which I assume is only an issue because I'm reading an eARC, is very confusing.

A lot of this is giving me flashbacks to Among the Red Stars by Gwen C. Katz.

I'm having a hard time keeping the timelines straight but otherwise, this is very interesting.

I'm having such a hard time staying interested in this book.

This book is stressing me out so much right now.

"Never let a recipe tell you how many chocolate chips to use. You measure that shit with your heart."

"You think this is a big deal because, no offense, you've had a lot of people in your life who claimed to care about you but didn't act like it. That's not me. I can cook, and right now, you can't. So I'm doing it for you because that's how people should behave; they should fill in each other's gaps."

That just went to a kind of weird place.

I almost feel like it's glossing over the most interesting parts of the story.

This has a little bit of a YA feel to it, especially with the MC being so young for so much of this book. I don't know how old she is when it ends yet but so many people love this and yet so many people wouldn't read it if it had a YA tag on it.

I'm a little undecided at this point. Why can't I love the things that everyone else does? I just feel like it's a little inconsistent. Also, the audio is a little too breathy and awkward for me. But I'm going to stick with it because everyone loves it & I'm slightly intrigued by the characters.
