The chapter when Pa Ingalls dies is very moving. You know it had to happen sometime... It felt real.

Times have really changed and Rose Wilder is very little like her mother, Laura Ingalls-Wilder. An honest, though not always flattering look at the times in which they lived.

Very strange to see the 1660's from such an up close and personal approach. Nothing like reading the diary of a man who lived then.

I'm happy to see that heroes aren't perfect - they just try harder than most.

Finally...Charles II on the scene...

I met with the illustrator for our new children's book Tally-Ho, and I am really impressed with her work! So looking forward to getting this book out before Christmas. Celebrating the extraordinary ordinary of a large, faith-filled family living together on a farm.

So now it is okay to drink to the king's health - even though he hasn't shown up yet. What an amazingly organic process this was... One just never knew what was going to happen next. No voting booths, stats or early reports...just lots and lots of speculation, hopes and fears.

A beautiful Coming-of-Age Story Georgios I
"This is a beautiful story about a coming-of-age Roman, Greek Jewish boy in the year 100 AD. From the very first page, I could not put it down. He learns of his heritage, goes on many adventures, and as he grows into a man, he learns so much about himself and about the world around him. The only disappointment is....I want more of Georgios! I want to know what happens next"

There is a lot of information here, you just have to read the footnotes to understand their significance...

Lots of useful information - I've even discovered a couple great movies I could show my kids.

I'll be sorry to see this book end. I'm glad he wrote more...

We are all loving this book - kids and Mom alike. I love the seasonal changes and the descriptions of nature.

I like the characters and really feel kinda sorry for them at times...

I love the mix of personal and public viewpoints...a very refreshing take on history, nothing like a textbook.

Very interesting the way Samuel Pepys mixed public events, social commentaries, and private home life issues into his diary.

Finally got to the actual diary and I must say - Samuel lives up to his reputation! I would love to sit down with this guy - except he seems to be forever going places... Before internet people had to actually go to people's homes and chat and then go to another house/inn/tavern and chat...go to a place of business and chat...

I'm finally ready to read the actual diary. The introduction gave me a real appreciation for what the diary is about and the work it took to bring it to light.

There is more to being a great diarist than I first supposed...

I don't generally like heavy magic - but Mull at least places logical limits on his characters with magical powers.

Perfect book for a rainy day while the kids are stuck inside. They love the story - I could spend hours reading to them...alas laundry exists.

I've rarely read such an interesting introduction. Just learning about the man as a historical figure and the times he lived in - before even getting to his impressions, thoughts and feelings is valuable reading.

As good as the others...very enjoyable to read out loud to the kids.

Never a dull page...

Just on the introduction - it is fascinating history.
