Already love these characters and this world. Really needed a lighthearted feel good adventure book in my life and this fits the bill so far 👍

Skipped the Elite because I remember it being pretty pointless. Immediately noticed how much more annoying *every* character is in this book than in the Selection. Maxon, America, Aspen. Everyone is so much more grating. A lot of people said they forgot how dissatisfying the ending of this was. Have a feeling I'll be one of them.

Hi. Aspen is a manipulative douche. You can already tell in the first 30 min. Okay. Glad we're on the same page.
Also, I think the narrator is adding to the early YA feel and it's making me laugh.

I'ma man! 😂

I needed a book with the substance of a cheese puff and this fit the bill. I can already tell this is going to be a low rating and a hot mess but it is the laughable bad I need right now.

I know this is all set up and character development but, so far, this reads like a pretentious classic you have to read for school. And Bunny right now reminds me of the manic, excentric, unapproachable and unexplainable aspects of Gatsby and I'm really finding him annoying.

Have had to read this in chunks because it's poignant but heavy. But I'm really loving it. Thinking it will be a 4.5.

I'm loving this so far. It's really capturing the feelings of being in a tight friend group right before you all go to college, wrapped up in a witchy murder plot.

I'm not loving this book, and it's making me sad. I feel like it's mostly because I'm not connecting with any of the characters and I feel like there are parts of the story missing in my understanding of the world.

This is another addition to the "Jaime's year of reading self care/help books." I'm binging the audiobook this afternoon while I organize my clay collection and so far, it is very simple but sweet. My favorite chapter so far is Chapter 7. It is what I've come to discover over the last couple of months. That you can do all the self-help things in the world, but in the end, you'll always end up on your knees before God

This may be the best opening to a book ever. At least the most memorable. I'm loving it so far!

Starting this beast. I don't usually like reading fantasy books via audiobook, but the audiobook is on Scribd and I'm probably never going to get through the physical copy.

This is just a really sweet and wholesome book. It also handles topics like breast cancer/body image and mental illness really well. The audiobook narrator is doing a fantastic job. I'm glad that bookish fate led me to pick this up. I don't think there is any way I would have found it otherwise.

This is my next audiobook choice and even though it's kind of cliche at the beginning, I'm very impressed that McGinnis is openly discussing periods and all the inconveniences of having a period, let alone in the woods.

Loving this adventure, although I wish it was longer so some things didn't feel as rushed and I wish Elinor wasn't as frail. Was kinda hoping she'd go with everyone. Also, this series has always been good with subtly addressing themes but there was one instance in this book where (though applicable and important) the addressing seemed a little heavy handed.

I've gotten a bit worried about the author's numerous pushes for people to ditch their meds and notes about the enlightenment that can then happen. This may happen for some people. But both going on meds, and coming off meds, needs to be fully thought-out with the help of a healthcare provider. Coming off of your meds and then using your panic/OCD/anxiety to stress produce a book on a deadline doesn't seem healthy.

Y'all there are so many self-help books that have cuss words in the title. Like, your book may be good, but I don't know if I can go around recommending books called stuff like "Get over your s*@!" or "F*@# your dreams: a freeing experience" lol.

I am really loving this book and a lot of it is resonating with me, even though I'm not in my 40s and a mom. I like how the book is divided. It feels equally informative and memoiric (that's not a word but you know what I mean). I am currently listening via audiobook and I would highly recommend it. The narrator is awesome and it sounds like you're sitting down with a friend for a deep chat.

Finally getting back to this and I'm very excited. Trying it via audiobook so far and loving it. Tried to listen before bed tonight though and realized I really wanted to hear what the author had to say, so maybe not a read before bed book 😂

This is a really smart book and the cast of characters is one to fall in love with. It is also kind of giving me Trials of Apollo feels plus Sanctuary (if Magnus was focused more on books). Really digging this so far! Excited that it's a series. Feels like it will be a good one.
