This is giving me big Knives Out vibes and I'm down for it. Not super down for the abusive boyfriend. That seems unnecessary.

Had this on my radar for a while. Really enjoying it so far, even though it wasn't what I was expecting.

This is a fun read but the magic bits feel like they interupt the story. Feel like they would have been better added in at the end.

This is definitely more along the lines of what I needed to be reading right now.

Usually I'm not a big fan of virtual reality or video game books. But I've seen lots of good reviews of this book and it's really interesting so far. Covers both divides in views within the African American community and divides between African American and White culture and views. Cool to see both through the eyes of our boss main character.

Samira Ahmed is just a sweet bean. Adored her talk at Quail Ridge Books. Thank goodness for virtual author talks!

Currently listening to Samira Ahmed talk with Kwame Mbalia about Mad, Bad, and Dangerous to Know via Quail Ridge Bookstore, and now I am *so* interested to read this book. Library, ya gotta get on it!

If more authors could work in trigger warnings right before specific parts of the story, like Green does here, that would be awesome!

I want to know how Hank came up with all the details like the accordien and the Mayan Roman numerals. Are these things he knew before writing this and then added them to this or researched them specifically to fit with the story he constructed?

Not only is this a good commentary on many things (right now that is the chosen one trope) but it's also a really good mystery I've enjoyed seeing unfold. But man does April May make some infuriating decisions. Arggggh.

Right now would be a really lovely time for me to find a book that nourished my soul and make me fall head over heels for it. Like Eliza and Her Monsters. I need one of those experiences right about now. Manifesting it out to the bookish universe.

Reading this periodically via ebook to fill time in waiting rooms and when I don't want something too heavy. So far, so good. Nothing groundbreaking but humorous.

A very long Sims session has allowed me lots of time to power through this audiobook. I don't know how I feel about this book. I definitely think this book is a good example of an interesting idea being used as the backdrop to discuss other themes and Green does it well. It is clear his experiences impacted this book. But the actual plot is interesting as well. It just isn't normally the type of book I'd pick up.

I'm a little annoyed the Mcguffin was retrieved right at the start of this after spending the whole first book trying to get it.

Take a Hint, Dani Brown (The Brown Sisters, #2)
DNFing this. Not because of the story or rep. It's just wayyyy more blunt romance than I'm down for. But if unfiltered British romance with good characters and some real feminist fat lady power is your thing, this is totally your book and more power to ya.

Reading this for the Reading Rush-The first book you touched (I loaded up my whole Goodreads TBR and randomly scrolled with my eyes closed. This is what I landed on) and Read a book completely outside of your house (this book takes place totally outside of houses, as they're on a boat). Actually stoked to read this after reading The Shadow Between Us. Already think I can call the writing style a new fav.
