I think it's because I've been really overstimulated recently but this is taking me surpringly long to read.

The font in this has to be ten point. It is so tiny!

Idk if it's Gwen's infectious joy or how wonderful Uncle Matthew is but this book has the spirit of a modern Anne of Green Gables in it.

I feel like sometimes the parts with Gwen's dad make me sad though because they hit close to home. I'm really hoping she doesn't have to go back.

Somehow I've picked up three graphic novels in a row focusing on newspapers. This is, so far, the least traditional of the three, which I wasn't expecting.

Again, Ansel's reveal is not surprising and Benny should have been able to figure that out.

How is Benny this genius kid that clearly states she can tell that Ansel knows more about her than he is letting on and hunts her down AGAIN to clarify her name and yet she is dumb enough to run away from him not once, but TWICE, when he is a clear lead to this mystery?
My bet is he is Kimble and she's missing it.
But it's stuff like this that makes this book frustrating, besides all the proofreading errors.

1. I'm convinced that no one looked at the final copy of this book before it was printed because there are an egregious amount of proofreading errors that are simple fixes. They're making the reading process annoying.
2. IDK who decided to put an excessive number of ...'s throughout this book, but they make the prose worse and are unnecessary. Again, annoying.
3. Benny is sometimes smart and other times so, so dumb.

The error here currently reads "she said we needed the key for the next clue, so it has to be something with can find."
According to the audiobook, the line should be "so it has to be something we can find." 
Emailed her agent, since she doesn't have a direct contact line. Hopefully it can be fixed going forward because I was very confused trying to figure it out (thankfully I also had the AB to reference)

This is the second time in the past month that I have found a typo in the 1st editions of books. I know editors are being forced to work at ridiculous rates and hours. It isn't their fault. But also, really?

This is written about Newport because that's where the author spent her childhood but it could equally have been written about NC, with all its costal and pirate lore. That would have been super cool as an NC native.

An old inheritance that can only be captured by a mysterious game? This trope has my heart and I hope this is good.
Current audiobook combo read.

I already agree with every review that says the cursing feels forced. It doesn't flow with the writing at all.

Okay but explain to me whyyy we are still sending people out if they keep getting seriously injured?! You know they're getting attacked more times than not so why keep sending them out???

Really enjoying this story, characters, writing and world. I think it takes me a little out of the story when they mention the "before world" being our current world and name dropping things like LA. It just takes me out of the fantasy of it all. But that's my only qualm.

These names are kind of ridiculous lol

Today was my county's last day of summer reading and I am proud to recap (mostly for future me) that I completed 38 books during the challenge! I got 60 days of reading in during the challenge, 5 awesome stickers, and one very cool car magnet. Going to miss filling in the tracker every day and getting fun stickers.

TW: minor leads monster to house and their family gets murdered because of it-incident recounted, description of physical injuries/scars/chronic pain.
