Every single parent should read chapter 23. Multiple times. I wasn't expecting her mom to be so supportive but I'm taken aback by how amazing her reception was. I love her.

The tone and writing style of this is reminding me of My Lady Jane and I'm really enjoying it.

Love a good boarding school and a good mystery. Like the writing so far and the chapters are going quickly.

I don't understand the "I'm forcing my kid to go to college when they don't want to" thing, especially when carpenters and trades actually make really good money. It provides Harper with a wide range of income options. She's even intentionally learning business and finance in school. If my kid came to me with that plan and skill, I'd be like, "You go, kiddo." It's not like no college, no plan, which is different.

Really enjoying the story and seeing Ollie's struggle with her sexuality in the context of a southern town. I don't think I've read a book with someone struggling in that context before and there are parts of the environment that feel familiar - state fairs, 4H, farmers markets, still seeing people driving around with confederate flags and don't stomp on me stickers. It adds an interesting dynamic.

Found the first one of this series on the shelf at the library the other day, which is very rare with its popularity, and figured I should give it a go. IDK what I was expecting, but it wasn't this o.o

This is such a unique concept. Like the Librarians meets Night in the Museum. Didn't realize I had it on my TBR when I pulled it off the shelf but I guess I know why now.

This has some of my most recent favorite audiobook narrators and it is making my ears very happy. The grandparent stuff is sad though. Two books in a row!

I haaaaate the miscommunication trope. As a reader and a communication studies major. Not like it's unrealistic but it is frustrating.

I am almost 7 hrs into this and still have 5 hours left. I don't think I'm going to be able to finish before the audiobook is returned to the audiobook.

Double checked the content warnings and it seems like this gets pretty dark along with the second one. Really digging the writing but don't want to be caught off guard by the TWs

This is just the pacing I need right now

I was really excited about the concept of this and while it is making some good points, I'm kind of hating the writing. It is just immature and the pacing is off. We are 100 pages in and everything is the same as the first page. The MFC can't get over her ex, she hates the main gal and they have no chemistry, and the inserts from the show make less sense as the book goes on. Probably a DNF unfortunately.

The story is told like a legend someone is telling a group which does make the narration style a bit strange and separates you from the characters. But I can already tell I'm going to wish this was longer. It's really good.
