I LOVE how much this book mixes in themes of navigating ADHD, burn out, and sensory struggles. This is the type of book I wish my sister had when she was young so she could see herself in Vanya.

TW: In the past: Lesbian physically attacked by nonaccepting family members, with wife murdered by uncle's physical assault and assassin sent by family to island to murder remaining wife.

Love the illustrations in this book!

Kiela and Caz are *so* bad at lying. These women are definitely not buying their nonsense 🙄

Ooooo Orson pulled a Hans from Frozen, at least that's how I'm now picturing him in my brain. Also, the payoff for this hint was *so* long compared to when it was introduced.

The sharp turn from happy fun love to serious seemed accentuated by the author's interjection. I almost feel like those bits aren't really needed and simple transitions would be better.

TW: insinuation of child abuse/neglect from MMC's parents

The self-aware narrator parts seem more on the nose than the ones in My Lady Jane, and the romance is pretty instalovely, but those are my only qualms so far.

Really enjoying this. But, we get it, the dude is tall. You don't have to repeat it.
Also, this is a lesson in the importance of socializing.

I don't know why some of the printed pages in my edition have a lighter colored font and the rest are normal boldness. It makes those weird pages much harder to read. I wonder if others have also found this in their copies?

Cal is reminding me of Calcifer from Howl's Moving Castle and I love him already.

I also, like many have mentioned, am having a hard time with the layout of the novel. Particularly the speech bubble back and forths but it's also difficult sometimes to figure out the order in which to read the panels.

I feel like I'm getting lost in the plot with all the different groups and the political focus this book has. Feels denser and more confusing than the first one, which I definitely should have read again before reading this. Still love the world the main cast the design. I just think the rest is losing me. The description even explains the plot way more simplistically than it plays out in the book.
