I'm glad I decided to listen to this book - the narrator didn't seem to fit the character at first but oh, that changed the more he was fleshed out. His Spanish is amazing and I'm not sure yet where Peter is supposed to be from but that Southern accent is sexy as hell.

Oh gawd, TWELVE? Poor Peter...

This is actually pretty good & really funny...love that I even muttered "Oh shit!" at the same time Austin did while pulling up to the diner.

I am absolutely in love with how the narrator - Daniel - is written. He's funny and personable; an everyman but not really.

Oh, wow...it literally starts where the last book left off.

I think I'm going to do the audio book for this read...

If I am EVER that sick or injured, please PLEASE someone re-enact the entirety of The Princess Bride for and with me, too? Hell, I'd do it just for fun; I can be mostly dead all day pretty easily...

Glad I listened to this, and it would have been a good TV movie...not sure it would have been as an enjoyable read.

Something about Miro being a fashion whore tickles me; it always makes me smile when there's a high-end boot brand mentioned, especially when IAN is actually wearing them (because he has no idea of the price or name).

Yet another mention of someone watching The Princess Bride. I have determined that everyone must love it and I approve.

Chapter 1 - Can I come in from the out now? I remember Jim Parsons (Dr. Sheldon Cooper) doing the voice for that...and Chapter 2, that's from Shaun of the Dead. 3 is a riff on a Paul the Alien quote. 13 is from Newsies!!!! And, I'm not sure, but I think the last one is from Ever After. Fuck ME...that's some impressive fangirling there Amy Lane. I APPROVE!!!

How did I not notice ALL OF THEM? Of course the one from Clueless jumped out at me when I saw it...but looking at the TOC I can see other quotes from movies I ADORE. Chapter 14 - Zero Fun, Sir. REMEMBER THE TITANS (it has Ryan Hurst who I'd gladly try to have babies again for). Chapter 15 is another 5th Element quote from Leeloo. Oh God, Chapter 16 - He's Been Mostly Dead All day. PRINCESS BRIDE. *Dies*

Holy shit...I think all of these chapter titles have some sort of other fandom reference. Chapter 4 - I am a Meat Popsicle. That's from fucking 5th Element!! Chapter 5 - I Wish Like Hell You Were Elshwhere. Wo de tian na!!!! That's from ruttin' SERENITY!!!! Office Space (FLARE BITCHES) & Run Lola Run are self explanatory. Chapter 10 - Some Things Are True Whether You Believe Them or Not...CITY OF ANGELS!

As if I didn't love this book enough, she had to go and write about the great director Kim Manners. He really did make some of the most iconic, wonderful, technically amazing shots in television. *sigh*

OMG how can I not love a book that praises fanfiction as sometimes better than movie scripts, doesn't make fun of or denigrate fanboys/girls, and has "Anything that draws attention to your mouth is a good thing" as the title of a chapter? (Clueless quote) Amy Lane continually blows me away with how her characters are so approachable...how much I identify with them even if I'm not a gay man or movie star or athlete.

Something I didn't think to appreciate: While Ian is deployed, life doesn't stop for Miro. In both books he's got a job to do, and he does it even without his partner there, sometimes having temporary back-up. He also lives his life - shopping, walking CB, the vet, visits with his friends, phone conversations...that kind of thing. Something I typically find irritating but not with this series and these characters.

Wait, I thought Ian's dog was going to go live with Miro's friend?

I wish so hard sometimes that the books I read (or listen to) - the ones with a rock star MC or musical plot - were co-written by other musicians... especially so that the audio books would have ACTUAL songs being sung instead of plain lyrics when the scene calls for it. Like, how Cameron Crowe and Nancy Wilson wrote "Almost Famous" together. It wouldn't have been the same story or movie without the band/music/songs.

I am of no particular religion and I'm not big on any kind of faith other than the scientific kind - but I can't help thinking that if more of the world's religions had leaders and clerics like Jasper...well, then what a difference it would make.

Well, if nothing else the terminology is spot-on as is the rest of the play-speak. You'd be surprised by how often that IS NOT the case in most football themed books. Kinda refreshing as my brain hasn't gone pissy about how it's not the "first yard line" (ONE yard line) or how the story used a regular kickoff (Kicker w/tee) after a safety (needs free kick, no tee) & onside rule wasn't followed (need 10 yds & bounce).

Yeah, this one I'm going to struggle with if only for the attempt at urban colloquialisms and grammar. Gack.

Really glad that the narration voice doesn't sound the same as Ash's actual voice...that would get annoying.

Random thought: I wonder if any pairing will be of more than just two characters; I'd like to hear that's a viable option for the Therians (or a combo of Therians & Humans) even if it's just from side or tangential characters...

Very good of Rowan to mention how much research goes into an historical novel...but I'd be remiss if I didn't state how much SHOULD go into even contemporary ones. Every now and again I'll post a general update complaining about something or other a writer does or says that's wrong. Sometimes I wish I'd gotten a degree in English (not Social Work) so that I'd be more adept at editing. THAT would be a dream job...

And of course Charlie was right: Tristan taking charge of his household, caring for the sick and wounded like that, reminded me very much of an officer leading his troops.
