Gah! Is anyone else tired of the "velvet covered steel" cock comparison? What I wouldn't give for someone to come up with another one...like suede covered iron rebar? Or microfiber covered carbon composite? IDK, just give us a new simile, please.

Read some of the blurbs for the Phoenix Club books and while the Angel & Gabriel ones are probably a necessity, I haven't seen more than a mention for characters in the other books; HOWEVER, the Phoenix Chronicles books should be read first because it appears at least one of those is directly before this. But, if you're like me - a completist - it's gonna bug you if you don't read them all first.

For anyone else interested in reading this? I HIGHLY recommend reading the ENTIRE Phoenix Club series by this author first. I only read a few of them (years ago, the first 3 I think & never got around to the rest) and there's a TON of stuff that I'm only barely picking up on because it ALL occurred in those books.

I'd stop now (since I hate picking up in the middle or tail end of something) but I need it for Spell.

OMG, I thought I was the only one that cracked and took all the meat out of crab legs before eating them all at once at the end! I always get stared at like I'm some sort of weirdo, so this makes me feel vindicated somewhat.

Okay, that's kinda funny...'cause it's what I think every time I read a book and a character says "shit" when they're getting rimmed. Just...no. Ewww.

Damn. As much as I want them to be happy, to be together...I don't know if I could ever trust that the attraction, the affection wasn't some residual affect of the chip. That it wasn't programming, or mental conditioning of some sort. Gah! The ethics of this is making my brain itch. I know Tate is saying it's what he wants, that he actually wants something with Rory...but how? How do you trust that?

Yep, and it's why so many people in power get away with the abuses they perpetrate against those they are supposed to protect, to employ, to teach, to lead, to judge. If whatever is happening doesn't directly affect me then why bother, right? Right...until it does, and what if no one else bothers to speak up?

When he was back in Tophet, Tate couldn't even go to the soup kitchen for food because the government there passed a "No Handouts for Crims bill." Kinda sounds like those places where churches and non-profits aren't allowed to feed the homeless. (I'm not a religious scholar but...is that something a supposedly righteous person would follow, ignoring the destitute?)

I didn't think it could get any worse, until it did. The chip that makes them docile, obedient slaves? Yeah, it also makes them crave acceptance, need orders and guidance, beg to be forgiven and they will do anything to get that because otherwise there's extreme head pain, nausea and overall panic. *shudders* That this judge (or whatever) is keeping the specifics from Lowell shows he knows the info can't get out.

Oh man, this is horrific...I'm not sure I could live in a society where my safety comes at the expense of someone else's entire ability to think for himself, to consent. The people getting off on knowing what's happening to him, the orderlies and that doctor? Are just even bigger criminals. The "sponsors" who use their "rezzies" (rehabilitating criminals) are no better than rapists.

I LOVE the idea of restitution and rehabilitation rather than the revolving door recidivism of the current prison system...but I know what's coming plot-wise and THAT non-consensual aspect horrifies me just a little bit more.

(Not even gonna comment on the plea-deal scams, corrupt prosecutors, inept defense attorneys, crooked cops and falsified evidence that also gum of the works because then I'd be here all day...)

As if things can't get any more discriminatory in the US, we now have a new "rule" in the Department of Health that allows ALL caregivers (not just in Catholic hospitals) to deny treatment to someone seeking medical help for abortions (including miscarriage management), trans-gender counseling & services, & anyone else (LGBT) to whom they have a moral or religious objection - with a new division to protect them.

I'm not sure which one of my friends posted about their Instant Pot but OH MY GOD you have created a monster in me b/c I've spent HOURS today researching this kitchen wonder.

Since I am a bargain shopper I've been focusing on the difference between the Instant Pot & the Crock Pot Express. It looks like the IP comes out ahead because of the manual settings & stainless steel inside.

I mean, why read the extensive manual they provide you with to inform you of what to expect for the rest of your life on a different planet - that answers all the questions you might have about the process of becoming an immigrant mate to an Alien - when you can just stumble through everything, wondering or acting like an idiot?

So after a third World War the leaders of several European countries, plus the US, Canada, Russia & Japan are the ones who got together & now make rules for the rest of the world?

Um, how about a single fucking country from the Southern Hemisphere, like Australia? One of the SE Asian countries? Or Africa? Or South America?

You know, one of the countries that probably didn't start the fucking war in the 1st place?
