So, I spoke too soon and probably should have read that MF installment...plus I don't remember much about the plot of Logan's Need.

Seriously, the drama that follows this family is off the charts level over the top!

Given how the middle books of The Protectors series have a lot of Barretti stuff & characters in them, I decided to go back and read the MM installments for Barretti Security; incidents mentioned were given some coverage in those books but I'm weird and need to have as much of the story as possible completed before moving on. Not gonna read the MF one though. Bleh.

Oooops! I meant to mark the 2nd book in this series as "currently-reading."

Putting this one back on the TBR...

Oh wow. If nothing else this book is a scathing indictment of the upper-class.

That bit about how Yves couldn't get away with telling subversive jokes in the grand performance halls of Paris, that those jokes would have been fine in the working-class slums & bars because the poor don't have power but the rich would willingly endure oppressors so long as they were allowed their extravagance? #TruthHurts

I know there is controversy around this book but I'd rather read/listen to it myself and make my own informed decision...

I love Heather's comment about the physics of Curling. Most sports have physics elements and the science nerd in me kinda geeks out when it's discussed.

So far this is surprisingly good...

I love that Kaz doesn't let his friends screw the escorts for free & that the guys have a choice in whether they service a client & how.

See, here in NV that first bit is a bone of contention. Some brothel owners give out free "comp" cards & the prostitutes aren't really given a choice to say "no" when picked out of the line up & presented w/it. Okay, they CAN, technically, but not if they want to keep their jobs.

OMG the start of this book is even funnier via audio. (Also, the voices are perfect; ALL books with Aussie characters should have a narrator from Oz or who can do a credible accent, just sayin'.)

Something tells me the nocturnal hide-n-seek lesson is gonna come in handy somewhere down the line...

JFC these last two sex scenes have been smoking hot!

...And when JT didn't return the letters to the guitar cases in the barn at the first available opportunity, I knew Brett would find them and have a melt-down. Predictable plot device is predictable.

I'm treating some of my challenge picks like they're chipped beef on toast* and bribing myself with "You can read 15% of this really good book that you like if you finish just 10% of this other book you're not really liking all that much."

FYI update: For those that have read the rest of the An Uncommon Whore series, and are interested in this connected story, be aware that there is a relatively graphic MF sex scene very early on in the book.

Wow, initial scene with Afton and already I don't like him much. Luckily, Belinda has a way with characterization that I'm relatively confident that my opinion will change with his growth...

Because dismissing sex-workers as people who don't actually work "for a living" and don't deserve the money they've earned? Makes me wanna cutta beyotch. What a douche-bonnet.

OMFG, right? I'm the same age as Chet here and we had one until I was in my teens. And I hated that! 9 numbers into the spin/wait - then a finger slips out so it's only done half-way or you pick the wrong number...only to have to start again. DO NOT miss that experience at all!

Hmmmm, claiming that at 48 he no longer allows his regrets or mistakes to control his actions or emotions is a bit insincere when as recently as a few days ago Chet was doing just that, wallowing in depression and reminiscing on his past relationship as kind of a heart-breaking mess...

That scene was way hot...I love that the ass-play wasn't just a warm-up for the Big D.
