Hello! My Name Is...

Also check stores like Books A Million. Their sale corner sometimes has library castoff's. I've gotten some great hardcovers for $3!

I'm studying in Psychology :) Almost there to getting my bachelors degree :D I love studying but I hate that I have less time to read for fun during the semester
But I still leave some time to read for fun otherwise my brain would fry from textbooks lol.

Nikki, Congratulations on getting close to your bachelors degree!

Hi Estelle ~ I can totally understand your addiction... =)
Which one are you reading now?
Nikki - Cozies are a great break between textbook readings :)
Hi Estelle, welcome to the group! You'll find a lot of support for your addiction here. ☺
Hi Estelle, welcome to the group! You'll find a lot of support for your addiction here. ☺

I just recently left another mystery group because it had over 7000 members and was just too busy. Hope to read one of the group books starting next month.

Welcome Heidi!
Do you have some "favorite" cozy mystery authors? =)
Welcome to the group Heidi! Glad you decided to join us. I hope you'll join in on the group reads for February too, but you're always welcome to comment on any of the earlier books.

My favorite is Agatha Christie with my favorite being And Then There Were None. Always looking for more though.

In the past I had read cozy mysteries occasionally. Recently I grew bored with my usual reading choices and decided to dive and explore this genre thoroughly. So far I'm having a ball and my tbr list is growing at a fast rate. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone here.
Hello my name is Vicky. I have reached a point in my life where I seem to prefer lighter mysteries so I decided to join this group. Some of my favorite authors are Carolyn Hart, Joanne Fluke, Agatha Christie, J.A. Jance, Stuart Woods, Harlan Coben, and Kirsta Davis. (I know a few of them aren't cozies. I do tend to read lighter non-cozy mysteries. I just prefer ones that aren't really graphic and aren't heavy on fowl language.)

I started reading cozy mysteries about 3 years ago, and I really enjoy them! there are so many choices! =)

Welcome to the group Cuppa, Vicky, and Carly! I hope ya'll will find lots of new friends and books here. You're just in time to join us for the February reads.

Sounds like wonderful work!
Who are some of your favorite authors?
Welcome to the group Kim! It's wonderful that you find time to read with everything else you've got going on.

Favorite authors? I really don't have any favorites in cozy authors, actually. I've only read a few, and I haven't made it very far into any series past one or two books.
I've read E.J. Copperman, Yasmine Galenorn, Lorna Barrett, Miranda James, Livia Washburn, Cleo Coyle, joanna fluke, Hannah Reed, and that sweet angel, Lilian Jackson Braun. Some I've chosen to continues, others not, others are up in the air. lol

But really any mystery that doesn't h..."
I do, too. Hopefully, you have read Patricia Briggs. Her Mercy Thompson series is fabulous. She's a shapeshifter with werewolf friends and a vampire or two. Her books are mostly mystery, not romance, although some might put it in that category. Briggs is a great writer. It disturbs me that the publisher lets the cover artist make Mercy look like a slut with lots of tattoos. I think she has only one. She is a mechanic on VWs.
I've started reading Briggs other series. They may be considered more straight fantasy than paranormal fantasy. There is a werewolf one that may be more like this, but I haven't started it yet.
P.N. Elrod is also good. I like the Vampire Files series about a hard-boiled P.I. in depression-era Chicago. Mob bosses (not him) and crime-solving. His first novel, in which he solves his own murder, is called Blood List or Bloodlist. I think.

But really any myste..."
You might also want to read The Dirty Streets of Heaven, a recent release by Tad Williams. It features angels and demons in a hard-boiled detective story.

But re..."
Will do. Thanks!

I have not read anything by Dusty Brown but will keep this author in mind! I just started a Farmer's Market cozy mystery called Farm Fresh Murder. We'll see where that goes!

I'm Mia. British, but currently in the Netherlands. Love all kinds of mysteries and thrillers...looking forward to getting to know people here and exchanging some ideas :)

I'm a happily married mom of 2 who lives in the country and works from home. Lots of time to read, and I love it.
There are so many great mystery writers out there, and I love all kinds of mysteries. Some of my favorites are Elizabeth Peters, Sue Grafton, Nancy Pickard and Dorothy Cannell. I do also enjoy a little darker mystery - like James Patterson and Jonathan Kellerman. But I that's about as much grit as I can take. Anything darker I pass on.
Hi LG, glad you found us! I hope you'll join in the March reads. Feel free to post in the threads for any of our prior reads.

I started reading cozies when I was on maternity leave with the Cleo Coyle Coffeehouse series. Loved them. So to take a break from the Kathy Reichs and James Pattersons I read some cozies
Hi, I am Evgeny from Montreal. When I was in high school, I discovered Agatha Christie (and almost failed my finals as a result). Since when I was a big fan of good mysteries.
I hope to find other mystery writers in this group, as well as have discussions on this.

Hi Joyce. Welcome to the group! I've been learning all sorts of new genre names since joining GR - I thought they were all just fiction :) I haven't read any E.J. Copperman, but I'm pretty sure there are some members who have.
