Hi Kim, it's nice to see you returning. It sounds like you stay pretty busy. With your involvement with cats, I have a book recommendation for you: My Cat Spit McGee by Willie Morris, who wrote My Dog Skip.

Welcome to Cozy Mystery Corner Elena. Have fun exploring our group. The group has a bookshelf which includes cozies by theme. There are a lot of cozies with food themes.

Each month a member picks two series as our featured reads. The April featured reads have just been posted. In the Cozy Q&A folder, readers share their opinions about a lot of cozy-related topics. And you can let us know what cozy you are reading in that discussion thread.

Have fun exploring. Post a comment in whatever thread you'd like and keep the conversation going.

Beth | 206 comments Welcome to the group, Elena, Kim, Jovita, Pam and anyone else I missed since I last checked this thread! Pam, as a knitter, you'll probably enjoy reading Maggie Sefton's knitting shop series.

Dianne Landry (diannel) | 4 comments Hi, I'm Dianne from Toronto, Canada. I never really gave cozies a lot of thought until my commute got longer. Now I find I want something light and easy so I don't have to think really hard in the mornings. I love the Hamish Macbeth series by M.C. Beaton and have just started reading Sheila Connolly's Buried in the Bog, which I am really enjoying.

I look forward to more suggestions and discussions. With summer coming I want to get ideas for reading in the evenings on my balcony.

Welcome to the group, Dianne! For suggestions of cozy authors and series to follow, I suggest looking at past year's Agatha Award winners and finalists at http://www.malicedomestic.org/agathaa... .

Good Morning
My name is Shellii. I live in Idaho. I love reading and will read most anything but, cozies are like chocolate for me. When life gets busy, stressful, chaotic..as it sometimes can, nothing else relieves like curling up with a good clean whodunit!
I have self taught myself many things for the love of a good cozy...cooking, baking, crochet, knitting, sewing, collecting...and lets just skip what happens come vacation and long weekends!
Speaking of long weekends~
Enjoy!!

April (aprillovesbeingfit) Hi Nell and Tina, Thank you for the welcome. Nell, I haven't read that series yet. I am reading the Bookstore cafe mystery series right now. I was actually a little disappointed with book 1 but will read # 2 anyway and I actually just ordered from Amazon The teapot collector mystery. I will definitely check out the ones you mentioned Nell!
Tina, I am looking forward to getting to meet new friends! Have a great night ladies!

One of the featured reads this month is Laura Child's Tea Shop mysteries.

The first book in the Cleo Coyle Coffeehouse mystery series is On What Grounds.

Hi April,
Shellii, here :)
I just recently found this group myself.
Just finished the first book in a series long over due to read and as is typical of me when cookies are involved; haha, baking cookies!
Enjoy your week, April

There were 7 cookie recipes in Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder (Hannah Swensen, #1) by Joanne Fluke .
We have made 3 of the 7 so far. I thought if any were interested I would post which recipe we liked the most from them.
Just for fun.
It being an older series, maybe others have read and baked some goodies from the read as well. Wish I had the time to make a whole bunch of all 7 to make goodie sample boxes to take to the FD's, PD's and the like.
Great to meet you, April. :)

message 1187: by April (new)

April (aprillovesbeingfit) I have read every Joanne Fluke mystery! I can't say I tried a ton of the recipes. But I am willing to try! :)

April wrote: "I have read every Joanne Fluke mystery! I can't say I tried a ton of the recipes. But I am willing to try! :)"

I really enjoyed this one and look forward to the next.
I am forever jotting them down as I go. I don't always try everything (save for desserts!) but do try to try everything eventually and sometimes dependant on the book I can get pretty creative in how I check off my personal "Did it!" list.
I don't know why I do it~I have a few notebooks full of; stuff to watch for, want to go, need to try, etc.
The next cookie recipe in this book I will be trying are the "Black and Whites" hopefully next Tuesday. I can share the recipe if you are like me and get most my books from the library. I jotted them in my notebook, so still have them.

April (aprillovesbeingfit) Shellii, I just recently saw a Lake Eden cookbook. I want to say Barnes and Noble. I am wrong with my comment above. I have not read Wedding Cake murder yet. Have you? The Black and Whites sound good. Let me know how they taste! :) I have one book that is signed and that is the Carrot Cake Murder book. I think I may have to try some recipes too! :)

I have not seen the Lake Eden cookbook but did see when listing the mysteries in my TBR that she did have a cookbook. I wouldn't mind tracking it down at some point. What I really like is the simplicity of her recipes. A signed Carrot Cake! That is awesome! I have a couple signed books from one of our local authors; Anthony Doerr, niether cozies, but both really good. The Shell Collector and All the Light We Cannot See
I have not read The Wedding Cake Murder, yet. If you get ready to read it or if I get ready to read it, give a shout, and maybe we can read it at the same time

Hi Brandi
I have not read the Tea Shop Mysteries, yet.
I have read 3 of the Coffeehouse Mysteries; 6, 8, & 9. Really liked Holiday Grind
If you start On What Grounds, let me know and I will see what I can do to get a copy and start it as well.

I am with you both, Beth and Shellii! I love Chocolate, and cozies. Since I have been back in the hospital, because of my hip again. I have not been able to have any chocolate, but my husband was able to get my kindle to me and got it programed with wifi and I can read my cozies well in the night!

Sorry to hear you're in the hospital Mary, but that's wonderful you can read now. I wonder if cozies involving chocolate would make it better or worse...☺

Here! Here! for Awesome husbands! But, I must tell you I kinda feel bad for the chocolate tease~I bet that husband of yours will have a super little chocolate surprise waiting just for you when you are better (unless he figures a way to get its yummy smells past those sweet well meaning little nurses) and then Mmumm!
I am currently reading Santa Cruise: A Holiday Mystery at Sea pretty good so far.
Sending lots of Hmmm & Ah Ha! Giggles & Smile moments your way :)
