Hi. My name is Christopher Huang. I'm a fan of "golden age" detective fiction ... I guess I'm more than a little old-fashioned. I haven't read very much modern mystery, unfortunately. My favourite part of reading a mystery is following the clues and trying to solve the mystery before the detective makes the grand denouement ... I like the focus to be on that, so I get a bit annoyed when it's too far off. If you have any recommendations, I'd love to hear them.

I've also got a mystery novel written, and I'm hoping to get it published in the near future.

Welcome Christopher. This group is full of recommendations. Cozy mysteries are often described as styled after Agatha Christie. The major mystery awards in this genre are called Agatha Awards. In one of our discussion topics, members name their favorite mystery series. That's a good place to start for recommendations.

Welcome Joanne. I'm not as familiar with the knitting ones, but is the pet one the Dixie Hemingway series by Blaize Clement which starts with ? I love Mrs. Polifax! That series is a great cozy series. I hope you have good luck finding affordable cozies - maybe the second hand bookshops will have more.

Tom Baker is one of my favorite Doctors. I tried knitting the scarf years ago, but never finished it.

Maggie Sefton has a knitting mystery series. The main character owns a knitting shop in Colorado. You may be thinking of Knit One, Kill Two.


Sally Goldenbaum has a series set in a New England shore town - Massachusetts? The first one in that series is Death by Cashmere.

Hi all! My name is Faith, I'm an avid tea drinker (with milk) and lover of golden age cozy mysteries. My favorite author is Ngaio Marsh but of course I love them all and always looking for more!

Looking forward to joining in discussions! I have to admit I mostly read those set in the 1920s but I've read modern ones too and enjoyed them.

I'm fond of Earl Grey and Assam with milk in the mornings. Afternoon is jasmine, citrus or other herbals :) I've had some nice rooibos chai too!

I'm a Daisy Dalrymple fan. She's a reporter in 1920s England with an uncanny knack for discovering dead bodies. The mysteries are light and easy-to-read. Some of the later entries include the perspective of a police detective, Alec Fletcher, which gives the books a touch of police procedural.

I don't think I've tried Assam - I'll have to look for it. I have some jasmine white tea that I keep forgetting about :) In another group we designed two teas for out readathons through designatea.com. It was fun deciding what blends we wanted.

People have recommended that I check out the Phryne Fisher mysteries. That's 1920s Australia. I haven't yet, but I caught an episode of the televised series, and it looks pretty fascinating. I mean, 1920s Australia, after all.

I'm married to Kevin Burton Smith of the Thrilling Detective Website, I perform with the Browne Sisters and George Cavanaugh (Celtic music) and I'm currently working on (among other things) a non-fiction book for McFarland Press on husband and wife sleuths in detective fiction.

Hello everyone! My name is Marilyn and I Love Cozy Mysteries! I live in Ohio with hubby and 3 fur babies. Kids are grown and gone. I am an avid reader and have recently discovered the cozy mystery line. Currently ready Rose Pressey ' If You've Got it Flaunt It' and The Charmed Mystery Series 'Pies and Prejudice'. I am also listening to (love audiobooks) Sue Grafton's series and am up to M is for Malice. I have read heavier mysteries and stuff in the past (Patricia Cornwall, Stephen King, etc) but find now that I like the lighter genre.

Hi everyone! My name is Pam. I discovered I enjoy cozy mysteries when a friend suggested Death By Cashmere by Sally Goldenbaum. I knit, so she thought I would enjoy it. She was right! I read Agatha Christie books years ago, but I didn't really know what a 'cozy' mystery was.

So, now I'm all excited! I ordered a Kindle from Amazon this weekend, I updated my information on Goodreads, my amazon wishlist is bursting, and I'm ready to get cozy. lol

A little about me: I'm 56 years old, I live with my cat Nigel, I have two boys (grown and married), and I have two little granddaughters.

Hi Pam! I've always enjoyed the Agatha Christie books too. I knew what I liked and, for a while, I just wasn't finding it, so I ended up deciding to write my own. Now, of course, I'm discovering how much there is on the market that I just never found back then.

I hope you enjoy your new discoveries! My favourite part is trying to figure out how all the clues fit together in the end, before the detective actually puts them together and fingers whodunnit.

I remember when finding a book, unless it was a best seller, was a treasure hunt. Now with the internet, they're all at our fingertips. Although I do still enjoy going through book stores, especially old ones, but at least we can find what we're looking for now.
