December - Pick it For Me! Challenge

I really wanted to get your picks up tonight but not done with work for tomorrow yet. Cannot procrastinate any longer. Tomorrow...I promise!"
Thanks Pam! Looking forward to seeing what you pick for me :)

It was fun going through your shelves, I hope you find something you like :)
Nice
1. Winter Solstice- the only short ones I could find! I haven't read them, so let me know if they are worth the read!
Unlocked
Do Over
2. Summer Solstice- I really need to make myself read this one! I have heard great things about it.
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
3. Series Clean-Up- Both are great books!
Rules of Attraction
Lover Unleashed
Naughty
4. Many Yearly Challenges-
A Discovery of Witches - I loved this story and I'm excited to read the next book when it comes out next year.
Darkfever - I read this whole series this year! Very good reading!
5. Favorite Book Of The Year- In my top 5 for this year.
The Pillars of the Earth
If I Stay
6. A Read That Made You Blush-
Voyeur - erotica
To Pleasure A Lady - historical romance but blush worthy!
Buddy Reads
7. Book Buying-
The Untamed Bride
Charlie All Night
Return To Sender
8. Christmas Read-
Holiday in Death
The Christmas Knight
The Christmas Brides

It was interesting trying to pick for you because although we don't have a ton of stuff in common, it seemed like every time I found something I wanted to recommend, you'd already read it! I don't know if that's good news or bad news, so if you can't find anything that interests you here, let me know and I'll take another shot at it.
Nice
1. Winter Solstice - A couple of short stories from series you've read and enjoyed: Heaven Can't Wait by Pamela Clare, and Happily Never After by Jeaniene Frost. If you'd prefer a full-length (but still short) novel, Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor is sweet and a very quick read.
2. Summer Solstice - The longest book on your TBR that I know anything about is The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Fortunately, I can highly recommend it.
3. Series Clean-up - Two series that you've started and rated the first book highly are Nalini Singh's Psy/Changeling series and Kaylea Cross' Suspense series. Why not get back to one of them by reading either Visions of Heat or Cover of Darkness.
Naughty
4. Many yearly challenges - You seem to have a decent amount of YA on your bookshelves, but you've never read Perfect Chemistry - so here's your chance. Or, if you're looking for a dose of men in uniform, Forget Me Not is the first book in Marliss Melton's SEAL Team 12 series.
5. Favorite Book of the Year - You seem to read and enjoy a lot of romantic suspense, and several of my favorite books of the year fall into that category. From your bookshelves it appears you've never read any Lisa Marie Rice (aka Elizabeth Jennings). This is an oversight that really should be corrected, and a great place to start would be with Pursuit. Or,if you'd rather stay with something you know, you could revisit the Kelly brothers and read No Place to Run.
6. A read that made you blush - When it comes to blush-worthy books, nobody does it better than Lorelei James. The first book in her Rough Riders series is Long Hard Ride. Also, I don't see any M/M books on your Read shelf. If you'd like to give that a try, Caught Running is a sweet love story and a good place to start.
Buddy Read
7. Book Buying - I've really been trying to avoid buying books lately, so I'm fudging just a bit on this one. Just today I preordered the next book in Jill Shalvis' Lucky Harbor series, but since neither of us has read the 2nd book, The Sweetest Thing, maybe we could read that together.
8. Christmas Read - I'm a sucker for Christmas anthologies, and there are several that I hope/plan to read in December: Holiday Hideout, Unwrapped, or Small Town Christmas
Hope you find something that you like!

I enjoyed going through your TBR pile, except that it caused my to grow more. I hope you find something you can enjoy.
Here are my picks for you.
1. Winter Solstice
A. Catching Caroline
B. Demon Girl I have this on my TBR pile too. Just haven't gotten around to reading it yet
2. Summer Solstice
A. Bubba and the Dead Woman just loved the title.
B. Tell Me No Lies
3. Series Cleanup
A. Visions of Heat I just read this in Nov. and I thought it was really good.
B. Envy
C. No Mercy (Dark-Hunter, #19)
4. Many Yearly Challenge
A. You Slay Me There's a very sexy Dragon here.
B. Bet Me
5. Favorite Books of 2011
A. Divergent I read this in Nov. And I've been recommending it to everyone.
B. The Book Thief
C. I, Robot I usually don't like collections of short stories, but I loved this!
6. Made me Blush
A. Dangerous Cravings
B. Lover Eternal
C. Pleasure Unbound
7. Book Buying
A. Envy
B. Wicked Ties
8. Christmas Read
A. A Christmas Carol
B. Matchless: A Christmas Story

I'm hopping I gave you something you like. I've been working on this since the list came out so if you don't like anything let me know and I'll try something else.
1. Winter Solstice -..."
Wow, great selections. I will be able to find at lease one of them to read. I will probably start with one of the Debbie Macomber, she is one of my favorite authors and I haven't read anything by her in a while. Thanks so much for the quick recommendations.

I hope that you find something that you will enjoy over the holidays! If not, just let me know and I will change it up for you =)
1. Winter Solstice: These are all pretty short, the longes..."
Thanks for so many great recommendations. I think I'm going to go with Envy and Matchless: A Christmas Story this month. I will need to read this in the first part of December. It's a library book, and I'm moving halfway across the country mid month.
I wish I could read Lover Reborn, but it's not released until March 2012. :(

So glad you like them Karen! Just let me know if you want to do a buddy read this month, would love to read something with you :)

Here are your picks. You have a great TBR list and it was fun looking through your lists. I tried to pick a wide variety of titles so hopefully you can find something that catches your eye. If not, let me know and I will find some more titles for you.
NICE
1. Winter Solstice: Ecstasy by Bella Andre (only has 156p.) The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks and Spying In High Heels - Both of these are very quick reads.
2. Summer Solstice: Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern - fairly long and a good read (I just read it last month so this could also fit in #4)
The Canterbury Tales - by Geoffrey Chaucer - Medieval tales are always a good read, in my opinion.
3. Series Clear-up: Wolf Games (Granite Lake Wolves #3) - You had read the first two and I thought you might like to continue with the series.
Prince of Twilight (Wings in the Night #12) by Vivian Arend - I figured that if you have read this far in the series, you probably want to continue.
Staying Home is a Killer and Getting Away is Deadly - by Sara Rosett - #2 and #3 respectively in this series - a different genre from the others for some variety
NAUGHTY
4. Many Yearly Challenges: Naked in Death by J.D. Robb - the first in this series and one I really liked this year
Agnes and the Hitman by Jennifer Crusie - she is one of my favorite authors
5. Favorite Book of the Year: These were some of my favorites, but I can't pick only five!
Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen
Pope Joan by Donna Woolfolk Cross
Girl with the Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier
Sixteen Brides by Stephanie Grace Whitson
6. A Read that makes you blush: Twelve Wicked Nights by Nadia Aidan
These three were also very good but not extremely 'blush-inducing': Good Girls Don't by Victoria Dahl; Can't Stand the Heat by Louisa Edwards; Sex, Lies, and On-line Dating by Rachel Gibson
BUDDY READS
7. BOOK BUYING: I just bought these and think they all look good: If I Bring You Roses by Marisel Vera; Frangipani by Celestine Vaite; A Discovery of Witches by Deborah E. Harkness
8. Christmas Read: 'Tis the Season by Lorna Landvik (I don't know much about this one but I read a couple of others by her that I liked.)
Mistletoe and Mayhem by Kate Kingsbury
1225 Christmas Tree Lane by Debbie Macomber
I couldn't think of many Christmas ones so if you don't like these, I will try again.
I hope you find something you like - if not, let me know and I will keep looking. Also let me know if you want to do one of the buddy reads and we can do that together.
Happy Reading!

Heather wrote: "Oh, I like my picks, KarenH! I'm going to check out your picks from Lisa Marie Rice and Lorelei James, as I've been trying to read new-authors-to-me, for sure! I'll have to look at the others ones..."

2. Summer Solstice -
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson.
I've heard this is good and the upcoming movie looks pretty interesting too.
Dark Lover by J.R. Ward
Kiss of the Highlander by Karen Marie Moning
Two of my personal favorites. I didn't actually see Kiss of the Highlander on your tbr shelf, but you seem to have enjoyed the first 3 books in the series and I liked this one a lot.
3. Series Clean-up -
The Hellion and the Highlander by Lynsay Sands
I haven't read any of Lynsay Sands' historicals, but if they are anywhere near as fun as her Argeneau series, they must be good.
Naughty
4. Many yearly challenges -
A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
I read this as a PIFM Buddy Read in October and really enjoyed it.
Mr. Perfect by Linda Howard

Naked in Death by J.D. Robb
It's hard to pick a single favorite, but I loved all three of these.

I couldn't think of anything I read recently that made me blush, but I feel like this might have when I first read it back at the end of high school.
Buddy Read
7. Book Buying -
Within the Flames by Marjorie M. Liu
This is the only book I bought recently (once it actually arrives in the mail), though it is book 11 in a series. I also have The Next Always waiting for me at the library if that interests you instead.
8. Christmas Read -
Tied with a Bow by Lora Leigh
All I Want for Christmas by Nora Roberts

1. WinterSolstice - Curse of Cromwell: The Siege by Dermot Poyntz looks like the shortest book you haven't read on your to-read pile.
2. Summer Solstice - The Cider House Rules by John Irving, I haven't read the book but I loved the movie - that is the best I can do with the long books on your list!
3. Series Clean-Up - Lover Awakened by J.R. Ward, you read and liked the first two, you need to read Zsadist's book too!
Naughty - because buying books is naughty!
4. So Many Yearly Challenges - Extreme Exposure by Pamela Clare - love this book and this series!! Another option would be Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost, another great series. Warning though, there is quite a cliffhanger at the end - I had to go right into the second book.
5. Favorite Book of the Year - The Darkest Hour by Maya Banks, there was something about this book that I really loved! It was emotional, riveting and I just fell in love with all of the Kelly brothers! (I want one for my very own!)
6. Thank God for Kindle, if you know what I mean! ;) - Long Hard Ride by Lorelei James, not my favorite of the series, but I always read books in order. If you don't care about that you could start with Cowgirl Up and Ride, a better book IMO.
Buddy Reads
7. Book Buying - The Next Always by Nora Roberts. I was rather limited by the "recent" here as I am recovering from surgery and haven't really bought anything (or read anything for that matter) for a while.
8. Christmas Read - Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor by Lisa Kleypass, a nice shorter story and the beginning of a series - the next book comes out in February! It would actually be a reread for me, but I would love a reason to refresh my memory before then.

Well, I had an interesting time doing your picks. I kept wanting to recommend books you've already read. Good sign or just proof that you've read everything? :-)"
Must have been a good sign since I know I haven't read everything! Thank you for the picks! There are several that look very good, I'm not sure what I am going to read yet. I will have to let you know when I can decide!

Nice - since we should always be nice and try to stick with our to-read piles ;) (yeah, right!)
1. Winter Solstice -Wolfe's Hope at 41 pages I figure is really short or The Book of Five Rings from SmarterComics at 80 pages
2 Summer Solstice -Acheron This would be worth it to find out what his story is.
3. Series Clean-up - Twilight Series: Eclipse &Breaking Dawn I noticed you read the first two in this series. With the new movie out you have got to get caught up. It is worth it.
Naughty - because buying books is naughty (for most of us)

I read in your profile that your favorite genres are paranormal romance and urban fantasy. I try to mix it up a bit by suggesting other genres, but I pretty much stayed with your faves...."
Thanks Yz! Those are great picks. I have Lover Revealed, On the Edge and Storm of Swords. I will start with Lover Revealed and then read On the Edge. I have Bayou Moon too, so if I really like On the Edge maybe I will read that one after. I don't know if I will get to Storm of Swords, it is so long and intimidating. I did want to read it this year, which is quickly coming to a close so maybe I will try.

Thanks for the picks! I would like to give a bunch a go, but with a busy schedule they may have to wait until next year. So, I think I'll read Wild & Steamy and Got Mistletoe? because they're so short.

I've already read Wicked Ties and I've caught up with Cole's IMmortals after Dark. As for One Perfect Rose, I don't really like starting in the middle of the series.

I am kind of embarassed that you just told everyone that I sent you a book that made you blush! "
Fran I think it was as much my reading environment as anything. We had my parents and my younger sister's family in for Thanksgiving weekend. I'm sitting on a couch with my mother beside me and my niece on the other side. There was a quiet couple of minutes where people were recovering from Black Friday shopping and letting another round of huge meals and deserts settle. So I whipped out the book I was reading as I never have one far from me. I'm reading the scene where the one guy is screwing Frankie for all she's worth and the other guy is pounding into his virgin ass. Of course that's when the family wants to know what I'm reading! So I gave them the synopsis of the plot to that point. It was determined that I was a dirty old man.
I've certainly read more graphic things and kinkier things. But I wouldn't have normally been reading erotica under those circumstances but I really didn't know that it was erotica. I go by the category on the spine. If it says "Romance" I expect one guy, one girl, HEA. I just have grown to expect certain things from different categories and was surprised by the content for the label.
But I was really happy that you sent it to me. I don't think I've thanked you enough. So a thousand thanks to you!

Nice - since we should always be nice and try to stick with our to-read piles ;) (yeah, right!)
