I can always count on Lorelei James to deliver hot, steamy and fun stories. I just wish the cover of this book wasn't so, ugh, tacky. But hey, I've got it as an e-book, so why am I complaining? LOL!
Holly North is a shy accountant who, for reasons I'll never fully understand, agrees to don a dominatrix costume and fill in as Mistress Christmas at Sugar Plums, a "gentleman's" club - aka a high-class strip joint.
Detective Nick West isn't a regular at Sugar Plums - or any other strip joint, for that matter. He's there to take down the famous Mistress Christmas, who alledgedly robbed one of his friends during a lap dance. As his friend was too embarassed to press formal charges, Nick has to work undercover and off the clock, trick Mistress Christmas to give him a lap dance and catch her in the act of trying to rob him too. But one look at her has him doubting his ability to keep his mind - and another very distinct body part - focused on the legal matter at hand.
The attraction between Holly and Nick is immediate and combustible, and they don't take long to act on it. But neither knows who the other truly is, so what will happen when the truth surfaces? Is there any future for a relationship that basically starts with a misunderstanding and is based on deception? Well, this is Romancelandia. Need I say more? ;)
As expected, this was a hot, quick and very entertaining read. Nick and Holly were very likeable and the sexual chemistry between them was great, which always leads to scorching love scenes. On the "negative" side, the setup of the story annoyed me, because I don't think a shy accountant can pass for a seasoned stripper that easily. Anyway, that wasn't "bad" enough to ruin the read. All things considered, this was very good.
Note: The Wild West Boys series is kind of a spin-off of the Rough Riders series - the West "boys" are cousins of the McKay "kinky loonies" - but each series stands on its own and you don't have to read one to follow/appreciate the other.

I loved it! This little story was cute, fun, and steamy hot! Typical Lorelei James story--plenty of sexy dialogue, smokin' hot love scenes, and two very likable leads.
Mild mannered accountant Holly North (against her better judgment) decides to do her client/friend Ivy, who is owner of a gentlemen's club, a favor and fill in for one of her under-the-weather strippers (known as 'Mistress Christmas'). No actual stripping involved, just some walking around in a revealing outfit and mingling with the customers. One particular customer has his eye on Holly--super sexy Detective Nick West is following up on a complaint by a friend who claims 'Mistress Christmas' drugged him and stole his wallet and left him passed out in his car. Nick tries to come on to Mistress Christmas Holly to see if she will do the same and 'take advantage' of him too--if so he's ready for her. Despite giving her plenty of opportunities she doesn't take the bait. Hmm, curious... Nick and Holly are verrry attracted to each other and Holly decides to let her inner wild child loose for one night. She performs a sexy lap dance for Nick that goes a lot farther than it should (steamy hot!), and after that they both agree to spend one wild, no strings night together. Despite connecting (and how!) in the bedroom, against the door, over the couch arm, in the bathtub, etc., and despite actually having some conversations about themselves and their families and connecting on a personal level, neither reveal to the other their real occupations. After a series of misunderstandings and some truths finally emerge, will Nick and Holly have a chance for more than just that one perfect night?
Loved these two together! Nick and Holly had such a fun, sexy, easy rapport. And oh my, have a cold drink handy, because their night together was very, very hot! And the lap dance? Whew...LJ can write the most steamy sex scenes...LJ wraps it all up (a little too quickly) with a sweet sexy ending, and a tidy little HEA. If you're looking for a quick, light, super steamy read, and you have a few hours to spare, you'll love this little story. A Lorelei James story is always a sure bet for me. 4 1/2 stars

А кінець як сцена з турецьких серіалів, коли всі герої неочікувано зустрічаються в одному місці🤣
Виглядало це якось так:

4.5 Stars for Mistress Christmas (Wild West Boys #1) (audiobook) by Lorelei James read by Rebecca Estrella and Teddy Hamilton. Lorelei James has a gift for writing these novels. They are sometimes explicit but really down to earth. She is really in tune with the steamer side of all kinds of relationships. This book is part of a much larger series and I’ve really enjoyed it. The narration was wonderful too.

Short little fic with the appropriate amount of Christmas puns and a ridiculous amount of cowboy garble.
Holly (accountant) fills in at her friend's Christmas themed strip club when the real Mistress Christmas is out sick. She gets propositioned for a lap dance by Nick (cowboy cop), who is there investigating after his detective friend claimed he was drugged and robbed by Mistress Christmas. He doesn't fight his instant attraction to her and they dry hump to the finish line. The next night he returns and they decide to go to a hotel for a one nighter. Silly assumptions and accidents happen and eventually a HEA.
It was totally hilarious when she looked for his phone number in the PHONE BOOK. LOL The olden days!!! It's only 120 pages, so you could have skimmed the cheesy parts. The audio is 3 hours, but Teddy Hamilton narrates and it's pretty sexy.
Nothing special, but still ok.

Super fun and sexy story! Holly's gig taking over for 'Mistress Christmas' isn't supposed to land her in the sights of undercover cop Nick but since he's investigating the possibility of a theft happening at the Christmas themed strip club Sugar Plums she finds herself under an appraising eye and an even sexier hand. Lots of sexy scenes and the mis-identity gets played for a while before things get set to rights and Holly and Nick get their happy ending. Very enjoyable! I'm definitely going to look for more of this series. If you're looking for a steamy and lighthearted Christmas read, this one definitely works!

I loved this novella! I can't get enough of LJ's Rough Rider's series and this is an awesome addition. The West part of the family has always been a bit of a mystery but after I read Boone's story, I wanted more of that branch of the family. LET.ME.TELL.YOU. It did not disappoint. Even though its a short story, Nick and Holly burn through the pages. It's such a sweet story that I found myself going "Awwww" quite a bit.
If you are looking for a quick read, look no further. Mistress Christmas is an awesome story!

We all have those books that have been lingering our TBR for years and years, even if we were excited to read them. That's sort of what happened to me with the Wild West Boys series (only 2 books out right now) by Lorelei James. These are "related" to the Rough Riders series and if you are a fan of that series you know the West boys, who are related to the McKays. I'll be honest, what I really want to read is Doc Monroe's story and I was kind of holding out until that was out to read them all. But I'm not sure that's happening anytime soon and this was a fitting book for the season. Plus it was released on audiobook! OK, explanations aside... this story is about tight laced accountant Holly who ends up working at a strip club for a few days as a favor to her friend and client after her star "Mistress Christmas" called in sick. Holly just needs to dress up as Mistress Christmas and walk around talking to the customers, not actually performing. On her first night she meets Detective Nick West who is actually investigating Mistress Christmas and the sparks fly immediately.
If you are looking for a steamy, quick and festive read then this will fit perfectly. I loved that it was in the Rough Riders world but it's also very different in feel than those books. The hero doesn't want to work at a ranch, he's happy being a cop. I thought they had immediate chemistry although I generally struggle with shorter stories that show a deeper connection without the characters really getting to know each other well. That's just a personal thing though.
This was fun to read as it made me think back on the Rough Riders timeline and where this would fit in. It made me reminisce. I will be reading the next installment later in 2019 as it's another story that is fitting for a different holiday. And I'll keep holding out hope that we get Doc Monroe's story at some point. Fingers crossed.

2.5 stars I was leaning more towards the 3 star rating but the ending was just so sappy I couldn't do it. I liked the general premise of this and thought it would be fun, sexy, and different. Their initial encounter is fraught with bad innuendos and cheesy come-ons, but I liked the whole idea of a misunderstanding because it leaves you anticipating the fall out. So I stuck with it.
Despite this being an erotic romance and the initial sex being hot, it actually got to be kind of boring because it just went on so long and became not only unrealistic but eye-rolling. Enter bad pillow talk, a "yeah, right" lack of experience , magnum condoms (oh please), and Holly suddenly becoming Misses Insecurity. I cringed in embarrassment a few time.
I ended up just wanting to skip the sex and find out what happens with the characters. But then we finally have our climax and it was okaaaay, but a wee-bit anti-climactic. We all knew they really liked each other but Nick's big talk at the end was a little too much for me. The epilogue was cute, and could have been the HEA we wanted without forcing the issue earlier as they did

I think I must be in the minority of readers because this book just wasn't all that for me. It felt like a bland imitation of her Rough Riders series. Both characters were bland actually, and I only kept reading to give this a fair chance because I normally love her work. This I'd classify more like Rough Riders Light & Boring.

I was so excited to see this story was about one of the West boys (McCay cousin--McCay's dominate the Rough Riders series). Mistress Christmas is a very short book with a hot storyline. Lots of times I read these short books and come up feeling empty, but not this one. Not your average everyday christmas miracle but one to remember none-the-less. Hot hot hot hotel room scenes. One even included a lil bit ol bondage & a gag. Mistress Christmas is the first book in the Wild West Boys series, a spinoff to Lorelei James' Rough Riders. I really enjoyed this peek at one of the West boys life outside of McKay country. Yummy and steamy erotic fun! This was a winner for me and I will definitely be reading more. James always comes up with interesting characters in different settings. Well done. Enjoyable. Great short to satisfy my Lorelei James obsession! LOL! Very fun, sexy holiday romance! Lorelei James never fails to write a book that keeps me interested while writing love scenes that are nothing short of steamy. A short read with some insta-love, this Christmas novella is a great example of why James is so good...and she throws in that cowboy flair for those of us who have been fans of the McKay/West clan all along.

When accountant Holly North decides to help her friend and client out and fill in for her regular stripper Mistress Christmas at the gentleman’s club her friend owns, she doesn't know Mistress Christmas is going to be under investigation by detective Nick West. His friend was drugged and robbed by the stripper during after a lap dance and Nick wants to catch her in the act. Instead he catches Holly who makes him a tempting offer: to indulge themselves in one night of unadulterated pleasure. What starts as a one-night stand between strangers ends in a love for life between two soul mates.
Even though it was rather short (117 pages) I enjoyed the story. It was a nice mix of erotica, romance and a tiny plot. Main thing was the one night stand between Holly and Nick and the development of their feelings during that night. It was light and breezy and too short for depth or real character development but Ms, James does know how to write erotic scenes that ignite the pages and make you tingly all over. She alternates light, witty banter and sexy innuendo with intensity and genuine feelings. While hero and heroine explore each other, the reader gets to know them a bit better.
There are very few secondary characters and they weren't necessary for the story since it mainly concentrated on Holly and Nick.
Lorelei James's MISTRESS CHRISTMAS gave me exactly what I was looking for on Christmas Day: A light, quick and sexy Christmas read with a happy ending.
I really liked this first taste of Lorelei James' writing. She writes tasteful but steaming hot erotica and I can't wait to read her longer stories (on the sexy McKay cowboys) I've been collecting for a while now.

There are very few secondary characters and they weren't necessary for the story since it mainly concentrated on Holly and Nick.
Lorelei James's MISTRESS CHRISTMAS gave me exactly what I was looking for on Christmas Day: A light, quick and sexy Christmas read with a happy ending.
I really liked this first taste of Lorelei James' writing. She writes tasteful but steaming hot erotica and I can't wait to read her longer stories (on the sexy McKay cowboys) I've been collecting for a while now.

Mistress Christmas is the first book in the Wild West Boys series, a spinoff to Lorelei James' Rough Riders. Nick West (one of the McKay's cousins) has left Wyoming and is living in Denver working as a detective. When he goes to a strip club to privately investigate a robbery, he meets Holly, a normally mild mannered accountant who is filling in for Mistress Christmas, a stripper at the club.
I really enjoyed this peek at one of the West boys life outside of McKay country. I think if I hadn't read RR though, I might have been disappointed with the character development - best to read this alongside RR (in my opinion, anyway). With the background of the McKay men, it was easy to see how Nick would fit right in...another hot alpha-male! I loved Holly as well...nice to see her letting loose and choosing to have a night of no-holds-barred sex. There's nothing better than seeing a woman take control of her sexuality. The steamy scenes were very hot - this is LJ, after all, we would expect no less.
All in all, I thought this was a great read - 4 stars.

This short novella is like the perfect bite--a just right combination of hot, sexy and sweet, with a dash of funny thrown in. Lots of hot, smoking sex, and soul deep insta-love, wrapped up in a likeable hero and heroine. A quick read that left me smiling.

Short but not sweet...
It was freaking HOT!!! I love this author and her writing style. She was born to write about sexy, alpha cowboys. I read all I can from this author and even a short book like this is worth every penny.
