Hello, Cathy! Here are my recommendations for you. (:

-- nice
1. Winter Solstice: Becoming by Kelley Armstrong. the ebook version has 28 pages (so it says in its information) and it was the shortest one I could find on your TBR list. I don't know the author, never heard about the book either. But it must have draw your attention somehow so now it's a chance to finally read it.
2. Summer Solstice: The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger has 500+ pages. I started reading this one earlier this year and got through first half, then I stopped due to some school problems. But it's time for me to pick it up again too, I liked the writing and the story, it makes your cry. ^^ But I must admit if I hadn't seen the movie first, then I wouldn't understand the book at all. So I recommend watching the film first as odd as it sounds.
3. Series Clean-up: I see you read the first part of Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy and added the second one on your TBR. Linger by Maggie Stiefvater was for me better than the first part. Perhaps because it's narrated from more point of views and not just Grace's or Sam's. It also has some nice twists.

-- naughty
4. Many yearly challenges: I read Mad Jack by Catherine Coulton for Featured Author Challenge here on RRRC. If you like regency romance with witty comments, fun twists and great humor then this one has it all. ALL!
5. Favorite Book of the Year: Angelfire by Courtney Allison Moulton made me love paranormal romance and YA novels again. I couldn't stop reading it really. It surprised me in the most pleasant way and it's sequel is coming out in February, hurray!
6. A read that made you blush: Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles didn't really made me blush but I definitely felt some tingles. Everybody recommended me this book and at first I thought they were overreacting. But no. The book really is great.

-- buddy read
7. Book Buying: I compared our books but we don't have any in common on our TBR piles. But I see you're quite a Jane Austen addict (as am I), so perhaps sth from Jane that you haven't yet read? Persuasion or Northanger Abbey?
8. Christmas Read: Last Christmas by Julia Williams, I have it at home already so if you can somehow get hands on it, then we could read it together.

Hopefully you can find something for yourself. ^^

Hi Mountainkat, thanks for the recs, I am definitely going to read The Cider House Rules, Halfway to the Grave or Lover Awakened. I might try one of the buddy reads I'll let yo know :)

message 256: by [deleted user] (new)

@ Isabella,
thank you for your recs! Now I really can't decide which one to read. :D I'll go with The Alchemist or The Book Thief. I probably won't have time to start them till my Christmas break on 22nd starts so I'll let you know how I liked them at the end of the month.

message 257: by Pollyanna (new)

Pollyanna (polly8) | 300 comments Hey Regina here are your picks

1. Winter Solstice - The Warlord Wants Forever by Kresley Cole i want to read this one too so if you do read it you could let me know what you think.

2. Summer Solstice - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling You've read all the others so here is a push to finish it :)

3. Series Clean-up - Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins I noticed that you are currently reading Catching Fire so thought you could finish this series too.

Naughty

4. Many yearly challenges - Soulless by Gail Carriger one of my favourite new series, a pretty funny read.

5. Favorite Book of the Year - Graceling by Kristin Cashore one of my top 5 of the year and one I think that you might like.

6. A read that made you blush - Guilty Pleasures by Laurell K. Hamilton, I don't really read erotica but this is probably the sexiest series I have read, the first one isn't really blush worthy but I'll suggest this one first.

Buddy Read
7. Book Buying - Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost I am planning on reading this this month anyway if you would like to do a buddy read.

8. Christmas Read - A Very Gothic Christmas by Christine Feehan this was a tough one so I just picked something that sounded pretty good and that I thought you might be interested in based on your booklist.

Hope you like something here :)

Hi Sandy!
Thanks a lot for your picks. Lot of beautiful books! It's difficult to decide where to start from.
I'll need a few days to finish the book I've already started and then I'll be free.
I'm very curious about "The host" and "Dark lover": it's not my usual type of books, but I'd like to try something different.
And of course Lisa Kleypas' book it's perfect for this forthcoming holidays.

Nice
Winter Solstice
Lycan Lover by SK Yule-stictly from your TBR but I also chose Winter Roses (Long, Tall Texans) by Diana Palmer because it is short with only 180 pages, but it sounded good.

Summer Solstice
Whitney, My Love by Judith McNaught-I love this book, I know people seem to either love or hate it but since we seem to have similar taste I think you would enjoy it.

Series Clean-Up
Between the Devil and Desire by Lorraine Heath-you read the first book and seemed to like it. I would also like to introduce you to a new series A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole-my favorite PNR series! Even more then BDB.

Naught
Challenge Book
Extreme Exposure by Pamela Clare

Fave Book
I would pick any book from this author but the one that sticks in my head the most The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen

Blush
Swing by Opal Carew

Buddy
I would not want to do a buddy read this month-because I am concerned with time.
Book Buying
This is the last book I bought In Bed with a Highlander by Maya Banks

Christmas Read
Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor by Lisa Kleypas: to get you ready for her new release early 2012!

I hope you find something to your liking-if not let me know I would be happy to pick something new!
Happy Reading and Happy Holidays

Sana (sanashams) Hey, Becky!

I did the picks for you. I hope you like them but please do let me know if you need me to re-pick, I'd be happy to do so.

December PIFM Categories

Nice

1. Winter Solstice A short book from your TBR - Comfort Food by Kitty Thomas. I read the synopsis and it looks like a great winter short read.

2. Summer Solstice A long book from your TBR - Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell. I know, I know that a book crossing 1000 pages is too much to handle. But, once you start reading it, you want to devour it. That's how much great this book is. My absolute favorite book with a snobby, selfish heroine and a hero to die for!

3. Series Clean-up A series from your TBR that you can get caught up on - Blood Promise by Richelle Mead. Shockingly, I haven't read any Richelle Mead yet. But from all the talk I've gathered, this series deserves to be continued.

Comfort Food by Kitty Thomas Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell Blood Promise (Vampire Academy, #4) by Richelle Mead

Naughty

4. Many yearly challenges A book that I read for a previous challenge and enjoyed - City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. I read this for my October PIFM and oh my, I absolutely loved it! I am on the second book of the series right now and it's just going great. A must-read series!

5. Favorite Book of the Year A book I rank in top 5 - Falling Under by by Gwen Hayes. This one went straight to my absolute favorites because I love how the story is like. The gory details and the villain...I just love, love, love this book. Anxiously waiting for it's second book to release.

6. A read that made you blush A naughty read - Lessons From a Scarlet Lady by Emma Wildes. I read this a few months back and it is a very different kind of naughty. I like the role reversal a lot.

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare Falling Under (Falling Under, #1) by Gwen Hayes Lessons From a Scarlet Lady (Northfield, #1) by Emma Wildes

Buddy Read

7. Book Buying A book I bought recently and would like to read - Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. Well, I bought this book but forgot all about it until now.

8. Christmas Read A christmas-y book - Lady Sophie's Christmas Wish (The Duke's Daughters, #1) by Grace Burrowes. I liked the synopsis and willing to give this book a try.

Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky Lady Sophie's Christmas Wish (The Duke's Daughters, #1)(Windham, #4) by Grace Burrowes

Let me know if you want to do a buddy read. =)

Happy Winter Reading! =D

Finally have your picks done! I tried to put 2 for each but couldn't find 2 for everything. Hope you like them!

Nice - since we should always be nice and try to stick with our to-read piles ;) (yeah, right!)

1. Winter Solstice
Both are extremely short!
Dragonswan by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Into the Dark by Gena Showalter

2. Summer Solstice
Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson - my bf keeps wanting me to read this, but I need to find the time.
Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke

3. Series Clean-up
I saw that you read the first book for both of these. I just finished the Fever series and loved it. And Cole's IAD is one of my favorite series.

Fever series by Karen Marie Moning.
Immortals After Dark by Kresley Cole

Naughty - because buying books is naughty (for most of us)

4. Many yearly challenges
This is actually my first challenge ever, so I just picked out 2 I really like.

Jacob by Jacquelyn Frank
Mistress of Rome by Kate Quinn

5. Favorite Book of the Year

The Duke by Gaelen Foley
The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale

6. A read that made you blush

The Darkest Night by Gena Showalter
The Darkest Surrender by Gena Showalter

Buddy Read
7. Book Buying

Covet by J.R. Ward

8. Christmas Read I'm not that big on Christmas sentimentality, so this one was really hard to pick.

The Books that I will be reading are:

Eternal Kiss of Darkness by Jeaniene Frost 12/16/11
Untamed by P.C. Cast 12/7/11

Sorry since my library in town is poorly stocked I will only be reading the two I have left that they did have.

Guess I'm all done. I'm really disappointed that I couldn't read any more of the books I was given. But anyway the ones that I did read were pretty good.

Nice - since we should always be nice and try to stick with our to-read piles ;) (yeah, right!)

1. Winter Solstice

Carla (carlacollette) | 347 comments Grace--Thanks so much for the great picks!! I added most of them to my TBR list, if they weren't already there. I had a difficult time deciding, but I'm picking Lady Sophia's Christmas Wish b/c it sounds lighter (and I SOOOOO need that now). Thanks again :)

I will definitely read Seduction of a Highland Lass and I'm actually reading Taken by Midnight right now."

I was hoping you would be reading Highland Lass, I just picked that one up and was planning on starting it. I have to work tomorrow, but I know what I am doing tomorrow night :) I really enjoyed the first one too. Glad you found something in the picks.

Thanks Lady Jaye! I really like my picks. I'm torn between Nora Roberts Quinns or Soulless . I've been meaning to pick it up for months now. I think I'll probably read Soulless. Thanks so much!

Suzanne H, I'm working on your picks now.

Pam | 1048 comments Fran-
Okay here's what I came up with...
From your TBR in the Nice category
Winter solstice short--I love the name of Snowballs in Hell and it's less than 100 pages and somewhat seasonal.

Summer Solstice long-Laced with Desire not your longest but up there.

Series cleanup could finish Murder Game, Street Game and Ruthless Game

Naughty
Challenge My highest rated PIFM challenge book this year was The Adoration of Jenna Fox YA and thought provoking! It's the only PIFM I rated five stars this year.

Favorite book--the two series I flew through were Moning and Briggs. You've read Moning--try Moon Called. It's on your TBR.

Blush. I have the feeling nothing I've read would make you blush. I read Love My Way for the November challenge and while I can't say I blushed, it was certainly unfamiliar territory.

Buddy read
Looking at our books in common The Perfect Play or Too Hot To Touch are on our TBR. I don't own either but would be willing to invest....

Christmas read- Small Town Christmas or my recommender has said The Stupidest Angel: A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror and that title makes me laugh :)

Probably can't start a buddy read until near the end of the month when winter break begins though...

Hope something here works.

Fran | 12278 comments Thanks for the great recs Pam :)

The Adoration of Jenna Fox looks really interesting and I don't read much sci-fi so I think I may give that one a go. I will read that one and/or Snowballs In Hell. Thanks again for the pics.

Gigi | 1149 comments Suzanne H!

I'm so indecisive.

I hope you find something you like.

1. Winter Solstice: Moon Called (Mercedes Thompson, #1) by Patricia Briggs

2. Summer Solstice: Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon

3. Series Clean-Up: A Clash of Kings (A Song of Ice and Fire, #2) by George R.R. Martin or Rode Hard, Put Up Wet (Rough Riders, #2) by Lorelei James

4. Many Yearly Challenges: A Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux or Cry No More by Linda Howard

5. Fav book of the year: Dirty by Megan Hart or Almost Heaven by Judith McNaught

6. Books that made me blush: Comfort Food by Kitty Thomas or Menage (Black Lace) by Emma Holly (loved Menage)

7. Recent purchase: (currently reading and really enjoying) Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1) by E.L. James

8. Christmas: Twas The Night by Sandra Hill

Happy Reading!
