I'm Tomson. I'm a student in England. I love graphic novels more than comics because I have to know how the story ends! I would like to get into manga as well. Recently I watched deathnote and I'd like to start reading the manga. And recently I started reading vol. 1 of naruto after finishing naruto and starting shippuden. Sorry about my awful grammar.
P. S. I want to meet girls. (Signing off with a joke..)

I bought a number of weekly comics (mostly Marvel) during college (2002-2006). With a family and limited space I buy no monthly comics and few graphic novels, instead making heavy use of my library.
I love reading stories that could only be told through sequential art and make full use of the form, like Asterio Polyp, Jimmy Corrigan, WE3, Watchmen, and many others.

I read mostly Japanese graphic novels/stories (known as manga). I also like Marvel comics.
My favortie graphic novel series/manga is Pandora Hearts

Hello all!
I'm Becca from Denton, Texas and have been a comics/graphic novel fan for several years now. I follow several titles as they release (Walking Dead, Bedlam, Lazarus, Sandman: Overture, Batwoman, Fables, and many more) and appreciate some of the older graphic novel titles as well.
Hoping to get involved with some groups in order to find new recommendations and maybe turn some people on to some of my own favorites! :D

Hello Becca, I LOVE Walking Dead - the TV series as well as the comic books! Haven't read Sandman yet, but Neil Gaiman's work is quite stunning.
It'll be great going through your bookshelves as well and seeing what you recommend. :)

I am currently updating all of my booksheleves with everything I've read. It's actually quite a daunting task since I have been reading these long before I joined goodreads lol.
I will say the first thing I highly recommend is Bedlam if you enjoy the walking dead comics. It's very bloody, very gory, and very twisted, but it's very well done and also put out by Image.

Bedlam sounds like a good addition. Thanks for the recommendation, Becca! And where are my manners? WELCOME to the group! :)

P.S. I got my very first comic book at Bob's Big Boy. Some of you may remember this Southern California fine dining establishment and the comic books they issued. :-)

Welcome to the group Koen from Belgium.

I've just finished reading Transmetropolian...perfect timing!
About me: I work for a comic book publishing company in the UK, so I'm always keen to hear about what other people think about popular comics.
Hi everyone! I'm Mirela from Croatia, I joined goodreads because I drop out of reading comics for 3 years now because I didn't have time (uni+lots of jobs), so when I found out for goodreads and this group I was thrilled to get back in the game :D
Also, I'm very jealous on people from USA, UK etc. because of the amount of comics you have available on every corner! Not fair :D
P.S. I just downloaded 'Hawkeye' and can't wait to start reading it! :)love the idea with monthly book discussion!

Yes, I'm in America but I fear there aren't many places left to purchase comics here either. That's why downloads are so popular.

Welcome to the group Ryan, Mirela, Matthew, Sharyar, Jason, and Pierre.

I love cosmic stuff like Hickman's Fantastic Four, Geoff Johns' GL, and the entire Annihilation saga from Marvel to name a few.

I'm Gem, from the UK. I'm 28 and have recently got into graphic novels. I'm currently reading Death Note and love it and I've had a dabble with The Walking Dead. I thought I would join a group such as this to hopefully get some good recommendations and explore the graphic novel world a lot more. Hopefully I can add to the group too :-D

I don't think i've already introduced myself yet..
I'm kelly, 21 years old and come to you from holland !
I joined this goodreads group, because im interested in reading more graphic novels and such( thats not so hard, cause at the moment i don't read any...)
So what better place to come for good suggestions then here i thought !
i'd love to get recommondations
Kind regards

I've made a comic book sci-fi series called QUAD, with three other artists. It was self published here in Brazil via crowdfunding and we published an english version digitally on Amazon.
Now, the title I am reading like there's no tomorrow is Saga. It is just awesome.

Welcome to the group Rohit, Gem, Kelly, Diego, and Mary.

Well, that's all. Great to be here!)

Luis here, from Spain but currently living in Montreal. I'm a DC and Vertigo fan, but enjoy all good graphic novels. Lately Image has been amazing.
Notable favorites (if I could chose really) are Sandman, Maus, Swamp Thing, Saga, Y: The Last Man, Transmetropolitan, The Walking Dead, The Killing Joke, Sweet Tooth, The Long Halloween, ...
I think this group could be great to read things outside of my radar.
Feel free to send me a message with any recommendations.

I've been reading graphic novels since I was a teenager and I'm a big fan of weird and mysterious comic books. I'll read anything so long as it's good but my tastes lie with the Vertigo/Image comics side of things.
Favourite graphic novel series is probably Neil Gaiman's Sandman. I like a good comic where I can re-read it over and over and spot new things.
I also recently started writing and drawing my own graphic novel as an excercise in improving both skills. However I have no idea how to promote myself so if anyone has any tips I'm all ears. The comic is available for free here:
http://tapastic.com/series/Templars
Similarly, if anyone has any recommendations for Graphic Novels I might like please let me know! I'm currently reading Fatale and Tom Strong.

Here to see what everyone is reading, get some reviews and recommendations (and see what to avoid!)
I also wrote my own graphic novel, The Spirit and The Shadow. You can check it out here!

The Spirit and The Shadow

Delighted to have you here!
@Mel - yeah, even I'm rather partial to comics that go beyond the conventional storyline of strong superhero fighting the odds and saving the world. :)
@Sophia - I'm fairly new to graphic novels too, but really enjoy them now. What are your favourites?
@Luis - I LOVE Vertigo and Image. They do some gritty, dark stuff that makes them pretty different at times.
@Chris - Good luck with your book! I'll give it a test spin sometime as well. :) Sandman is fantastic, right? I just began reading it a few days ago.
@Matt - Haven't read Griffith or Deitch. Worth a try, eh?
@Thomas - All the best for your book! :)
@Michael - Hello there, and welcome back to graphic novels :)

The recent Image Humble Bundle added some binge reading to the mix.

My name is Xavier and I'm from Belgium (the dutch speaking part).
I didn't really like long story's because I'm dyslectic so started out with stuff like Calvin and Hobbes (and some stuff you guys probably never heard of like "Vrouwen in 't wit" en "Kleine robbe"
After that I started with the more popular stuff like Spider-man Batman and Spawn
Now still love Batman and try to read the most of what's out from that but also enjoyed Saga, Y the last man, irredeemable (huge what if story line "what if superman just freaked out and turned against mankind") and Fables read every spin off and even the Novel if I had to recommend something it would be fables :)

My name is Matan and I'm originally from Israel, now living in California.
I first got into reading comics with Spider-Man back in the early 90's.
I kept with it and recently fell in love with some fantastic graphic novels.
My all time favorite book (written or graphic) is Watchmen.
Some if my top graphic reads are:
The Dark Knight Returns
I Kill Giants
Spider-Man: Reign
Daytripper
Batman: year one
And most of the stuff by Alan Moore and Frank Miller
I'm currently reading these great stories:
Y: The Last Man
The Walking Dead
Mystery Men
Amazing Spider-Man (they just restarted this series after the Superior Spider-Man storyline)
Sandman
And any good Batman storyline I can get my hands on.
Looking forward to getting recommendations from the group.
Cheers,
Matan

Welcome Puchi. I haven't read much manga, (a bit of Naruto) and some Japanese horror like Uzumaki. BUt, will give 1/2 Prince a try as well.

I'm currently reading through and/or keeping up with:
-Fables
-Saga
-The Unwritten
-Locke & Key
-Sweet Tooth
-American Vampire
-Deathnote
-Y: The Last Man
and the like.
In addition to those series, I enjoy non-fiction graphic novels, especially coming-of-age and travel memoirs.
I'm likely to stalk the group and read the monthly selections, but I'm bad at joining discussions. Looking forward to recommendations!

Welcome to the group, Alana. :)
Sadly, comic book stores aren't popular in India so I only read on the Comixology and Marvel Unlimited apps.
That's a really good list you have, and I haven't read much of these. But hopefully, will scan through your list and pick ideas for my reading list there as well.

(for teens).
I've been reading comics since I was little, as my brother was "made" to drive me to piano lessons, but not without stopping at the comic bookstore. ;)
I literally read any and everything from the GN world. I try to keep current with all that is GNs as I want to make sure I can recommend, introduce, and keep my patrons happy with classics, as well as, the newest and latest works. :)

Hello Patrick! I envy your job! Glad that you're joining us. Welcome! :)
