Welcome to Round 2 of Book Shelf Bingo, newbies! Welcome back Shannon, Rebecca & Rachel! Is everyone excited as I am? I've been counting the days.If you don't mind, I would like everyone to introduce yourselves & one thing you'd like to share about yourself. I also would appreciate if anyone has suggestions for a Team name.
I'll go first. My name is Ammarylis. You can either call me by my given name or my SN (Lethal, LethalLovely, LL). One thing I'd like to share about me is that even at the age of 21, I'm still embarrassed to buy romances. Especially the ones with man-boobies on the cover. I get my fiance to buy them whenever I can, which he hates because he think the cashier is going to think he's gay. LOL!
ETA: I just thought of name. "Bingo Beauties". Or "Bookshelf Babes." I don't know. I'm stuck on the alliteration. Oh! "Bingo Barracudas". I love you, Heart!

Whoo! Finally the teams are up, it's getting closer! :D And of course I'm excited! Love that you get your fiance to buy them instead, Lethal! Not at all embarrassing for him. ;)
I'm Rebecca, but feel free to call me whatever you want. When it comes to nicknames, I've probably had them all; from Bex/Becca to GG. Something about me... Hmm. Even though my entire family is Swedish, people that's never met me before, always think I'm American/English based on my last name and never know how to pronounce it. If you're wondering, it's Georgsson and it is after my grandfather and his brother's took their fathers name Georg after he died. English speakers have never thought this though. ;)
I'm not very good at names, but I do like both Bingo Beuties and Bookshelf Babes, haha.

YAY the teams are posted!I've been looking forward to this part of the game since I signed up! Go Team 2!!
I'm Kimberly but my adopted nickname is Gravy. Feel free to call me either name.
I love food and I love to cook. I don't like to do the dishes. If you know of a good book that revolves around exploring food, let me know. I always have time to read one.
I like the name Bookshelf Babes! It has a nice ring to it!
You'll love it Kimberly! How did you end up being called Gravy? :)
It does have a nice ring! Bookshelf Babes.
It does have a nice ring! Bookshelf Babes.
Gravy is a result of a conversation I had with a friend about gravy. We talked about all types of gravy and she was shocked I’d never had bacon gravy since if I could, I would eat bacon like candy. Well anyway, Gravy has turned into a screen-name/nickname since that conversation.I've even tried to have it put on mouse ears at Disneyland. No luck.
Aah, haha. Logical. ;) Kind of cute! Gravy. And I've never even heard of bacon gravy before, haha.
Welcome Rebecca & Kimberly! Thank you both for the suggestions & sharing a little about yourselves!@ Rebecca: I absolutely ♥ your last name! It reminds me of Vikings...which then reminds me of Alexander Skarsgard. Mmmm. That is one sexy man. Great last name!
@ Kimberly/Gravy: LMAO! I love cooking & food without the dishes, as well. I'd cook more if my fiance would clean up more. Then again, he's a man. He might set the house on fire trying to dry the dishes. So maybe that's a good thing.
LMAO @ reason for "gravy"! Isn't bacon great? I've found that there is absolutely NOTHING that doesn't taste better with bacon. I've put it in my ice cream.
Okay:
(5) for Bookshelf Babes
(3) for Scratch & Sniff Cowboys in 3D OR Scratch & Sniff Cowboys
(2) for Bingo Beauties
(2) for Bingo Barracudas
Anything else you'd like to suggest?
Thanks, Rachel & thank you for sharing! ☺If any new members have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me & our other returning members.

Haha, I've actually heard that once before. Not that I see any connection to Vikings, but okay! :D And I do like my last name as well, it's not very common, so I'm happy! Haha. At least I see the connection from Vikings to Skarsgård. ;)
And I have no other suggestions at the moment. My head is filled with horrible rape cases from my school book. Isch.

Hey guys :)I am so tickled to get started on this! So, I am Dana and I live in the Pacific Northwest in the US...it's fantastic! I am also lucky enough to live about 20 minutes away from the largest new/used bookstore in the world - Powell's. Aaahhh, it's like having a membership card to your own personal heaven. ;)
Stuff about me, eh? Well, I come from a long line of true 'American Cowboys' which was fun growing up. I'm not involved myself, (fell to my cousins), but it was a treat in my youth!
I am in the middle of my suburban housewife years now. I have 4 fish, 3 children, 2 cats, 1 husband, "and a Kiiiin-dle in my haaannnd-bag!".
I loved all your name ideas! Bingo Barracudas is cool! I would make it my first choice. I also like Bookshelf Babes so that can go to second place for me. This is going to be fun. ;P
Kimberly wrote: "Gravy is a result of a conversation I had with a friend about gravy. We talked about all types of gravy and she was shocked I’d never had bacon gravy since if I could, I would eat bacon like candy...."Aren't we a pair? My nickname for years was 'Spam'. :)
Bacon gravy? The mind boggles with ideas! Now I am going to have to try this because I can't get the idea of a baked potato with shredded cheddar and bacon gravy on it! (Jenny Craig would be all over that one, huh? lol)
Welcome to BSB, Dana! I am so jealous of your heritage! I've read enough "cowboy romances" to have a probably inaccurate view of them. Hot, shweaty & strong. MEN men. Oh yeah. Give me some of that! I'm sure it was fantastic for you as a child growing up in such an amazing environment.Thank you very much for introducing yourself! ☺
Thanks LL! It was lots of fun and had many high points. Although I'm sure if you had ever fed stock in a blizzrd when it's about 8 degrees outside, you might lose some of your admiration for the lifestyle. ;P Farm chores...boo-yah!Just like any other 'classification of men', cowboys have their variations, but yeah...hot, shweaty, MEN men were to be found quite often. My senior prom date, Jamie, used to model jeans for Wrangler...he was a 'butt model' and he earned that title for sure. *sigh*
Honestly, for anyone that has never been to a rodeo, it is worth going once in your life just for the 'greats butts in jeans' aspect! hehe
Oh, right, and the bronc riding is awesome...yeah, that too. *ah, erm, cough, cough*
ROFLMAO! Dana, I want to be you! Unfortunately, I'll probably never go to a rodeo. I'm very allergic to horses...& they kind of scare me. I'm only 4'10-4'11 so horses are gigantic to me. But that won't stop me from reading cowboy smut!
Hello. I think I'm on this team. Unless there's another Mary (it's rare that there isn't). I turned 41 last Friday. I'm a single mom of a 13yr old daughter and I have 2 dogs and 2 guinea pigs. (man that sounds like a bad personals ad). I did not do this for the 1st round. I'm still confused on the Free Space. Do we just read 1 book from one of the lists during the whole challenge? Or do we have to read 1 from the list each week to get the free space? I just want to make sure incase I need to get something from the library or booksfree to use.
Oh and I'm in Mass. I'm ok with any of the names. I'm not good at coming up with stuff like that so I'll just go with the flow.
I made myself a Bingo-books shelf and started logging in some books that I can use for this. Now that I can see all the possible shelves, I'll go through and add some more. I have close to 1,000 books here and the only one shelf I'm worried about is "speculative-fiction" because I have no idea what that means. I don't generally read horror, end of world or dystopian type stuff. So I'm noping that's not what that means.
OK I've always wanted to read Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy so I can read that (assuming it isn't hard to find) if the Speculative-fiction shelf comes up) or Anansi Boys which I already have.
Welcome, Mary! IIRC, I answered your first question on another thread. I'll say it again: you only need to read one book for the free space. After every team member reads, rates & reviews a book, we're done with the space. That goes for each shelf. Only 7 out of 8 of our members have to read/rate/review a book for the assigned shelf for it to be counted, although IIRC we all need to read a book for the shelves at one point.
Mary wrote: "Oh and I'm in Mass. I'm ok with any of the names. I'm not good at coming up with stuff like that so I'll just go with the flow.
I made myself a Bingo-books shelf and started logging in some..."
A piece of advice: Don't overthink it. This is very easy game when you get the hang of it. 9 times out of 10 you will find a book you're interested in for each shelf. There are many books to choose from.

A few hundred years ago would have been misery for you, agh!
Don't let your size get in your way. My aunt breeds Clydesdales (beautiful silver-black ones) and they are mammoth! She is only 5' tall (my grandma was a tiny Irish woman) and it always makes be smile to watch her in the fields pushing these horses around that are the size of Mack trucks compared to her. Short or no, to a horse, we are all small!
Have you ever been horseback riding before? Can you take Claratin or something? (I'm stupid as I have no allergies, nor does anyone in my entire family.) Shweaty, cowboy romance is tons better when you have actually smelled that horse, hay, leather, man-sweat smell. Truuuuuust me! ;P
LOL! True, true. I'm in the age of cars! Yay!That is such a cute story about your aunt. I'd love to see that. I bet she looks so adorable. All of us short people are called cute & adorable at one point. Grrr!
LMAO! Here, here! Man-sweat. Mmmmm. No, I've never been horseback riding. I've only been around a horse 4 times in my life & each time I blew up like a blow fish. No thanks. I take meds for my cat allergies so I can be around my kitten Soldier but I don't know if it would work with horses.
I'm not over-thinking it. I'm not even looking beyond the first couple of pages of each list. I just want to be able to pick a book quickly when a shelf is announced rather then wasting a lot of time on Sundays to see what I might read. I want to be able to see what shelf is called and then look at the list I've made and pick one. Or run to the library if I don't have one on hand.
LMAO at you all! Bacon Gravy, never heard of it! LOL. Glad to see all the bonding :)Lethal that's really sad that you're allergic to horses, cause I endorse Dana's Shweaty, cowboy romance is tons better when you have actually smelled that horse, hay, leather, man-sweat smell. Truuuuuust me! ;P
It's no wonder you read all about those sweaty cowboys!
My mom "claims" she made it for us when we were younger, but I don't remember eating mashed potatoes and bacon gravy! LOL!! I have yet to read a cowboy book. I think after the game is over I need to read one! *nods emphatically*
Mary, I did the same thing as you. I went through all the shelves and found all of my books that fit in the categories.
It's in an excel spreadsheet.
Color coded.
What? I wanted to be prepared! :P
LMAO! I do that when the shelves are announced. I look through every single page & put the books on my TBR shelf in 3 categories: Own TBR, At Library TBR & To Buy TBR. From there I pick the book I most want to read & can get my hands on easiest. It also helps if a book from the assigned shelf fits into another challenge I'm participating in.There is a method to all of our madnesses (is that word?)! Just remember, this game is about having fun! Try not to stress yourselves out too much.☺
But, but, that IS fun!Nah, I hear ya loud and clear. I think I'm just excited to play because I am suffering from cabin fever.
Yes, one can have cabin fever in Southern California...
LOL! I agree, it IS fun. I'm obsessed with lists. I have lists for lists. Seriously. It drives my fiance bat shit crazy. I can totally understand being excited! I'm excited too! Last round, I always felt this big sense of accomplishment when my team got a stamp for shelf. We work together, encourage each other & have fun doing what we all love to do: READ! What's not exciting about that?
Ya'll are well on your way! Thrilled so many have posted so soon, giving you guys time to get to know a bit about each other before the gamin' begins. LOL @ Kimberly & Mary, sounds like ya'll are set! I'm a list-making fool myself, so I know exactly what ya mean.
Like Lethal said, it's SO much easier than it sounds and you're guaranteed to enjoy yourself. Or your money back ... LOL! ;)
I'll tell you all, I think romance novels should have like a scratch and sniff page or something! (I could send you the great 'cowboy scent' that way LL!) Women have a proven stronger sense of smell than men, and that totally explains why all our female novelist favs are big on describing the scent of something as well as it's appearance. I bet more men would buy romance novels if they all smelled like pumpkin pie! lolBTW, it is incredibly vindicating to discover that my OCD tendencies are not only the norm, but are encouraged here. I have been working up a spreadsheet the last hour or so of options for a challenges I am joining. I had things in Word (for ease of cut and paste) but with Excel I can link titles that I can use for more than one challenge at a time. The fact that I can say that without fear of being locked up says to me that I have found my peeps!
I wonder what a bookstore would do if the entire membership of SOS descended upon them en masse? Go into a spasm of collective ecstacy? Run, screaming and wailing, into the night? I'm thinking it would be a bit like when multiple school busloads of football players all pull into McDonalds at the same time.
Trepidation...hehe
ROFL! Dana, definitely kindred spirits here!I'd love the scratch and sniff versions, too....Would Bones smell as good as I imagine...;D
My name is Kristen. I teach high school English and yoga (but not at high school). I'm so happy to be a part of this team!!!
Dana wrote: "I'll tell you all, I think romance novels should have like a scratch and sniff page or something! (I could send you the great 'cowboy scent' that way LL!) Women have a proven stronger sense of smel..."I think more men would buy them if the heaving breasts were in 3D!! :-P
Ok well I didn't go so far as doing a spreadsheet. I may write some up in a notebook but that would just be so I don't grab a book for one shelf that might be better saved for another. But I probably won't even do that. There aren't any shelves that I'm super worried about now that I can see the whole list. I just made my own shelves so when one is called, I can look at my goodreads shelves and see what I have to fit.
Dana wrote: "I'll tell you all, I think romance novels should have like a scratch and sniff page or something! (I could send you the great 'cowboy scent' that way LL!) Women have a proven stronger sense of smel..."LMAO! Too funny! I happy to see my wonderful team has a sense of humor.
Welcome to the team, Kristin! We're happy to have you as a part of this team, as well! Thank you for introducing yourself.
I was searching goodreads bookshelves in my sleep last night. Probably because I was too tired to read before bed last night and Hawaii 5/0 was a repeat. So I figured last night was a good night to make a loose reading plan.
I can tell you now that I won't be reading the March BOM. I am only on book 3 of that series and I don't own the last one yet. I'll have to check out the other list options although I'm sure I have at least 1 book from the group shelf that I can read for the Free space.
Hey! I'm not in the group, but I'll be supporting! I'm much envious...Dana wrote: Honestly, for anyone that has never been to a rodeo, it is worth going once in your life just for the 'greats butts in jeans' aspect! hehe

Thanks for the pic Dana, it worth entering the thread! hehe If I end up working over there I'll remember, but then, I don't know how it works, where to go, etc.

Haha, I just keep thinking of those pop-up books... ;p
