Definitely not slow!:-) 34 is great, especially if you're in a slump, lol!

I'm in a reading slump since the start of Feb, lol... Having a hard time getting anything finished (mostly because I'm still working my way through Crime and Punishment.. I decided to read a couple classics each month, and I've been reading C&P for the last 2 weeks (not turning pages after I reached the halway point though:-( )

Melaine, after reading War and Peace, I'm burned out on the Russians. Why are so many Russian books depressing and long? My goal this year was to read more classics, so I'm a lot lower on number of books read. I think I was reading about 600+ books a year before. Now over 50% of my books are classics, "real" literature, or non-fiction. So embarrassing to admit, but sometimes I find myself not enjoying reading as much now.

I've been there, Shay. I almost felt like I was losing a piece of myself. Maybe you should try reading something 'light' or maybe just take a one day or two break from reading to regroup.

I always find that taking a day to just lay around and watch movies can help. something that you don't really have to think about! just my 2 cents :-)

Oops, I miscounted. Only 29 books in January. Forgot it was February already. Oh well, doing even worse than I thought. I don't get to watch movies- the kids always want to watch what they want to watch. (Toy Story 3 for the 103rd time) By the time the kids get to sleep, it would be too late to watch a movie. I probably fall asleep before the last of them get to sleep.

Lol.. I've decided to read at least 100 classics during the year.. I've read two or three books since starting C&P (and yes, the Russians are depressing!!) to read smt a little more joyful, but I can definitely understand your reading speed going down if you have to work your way through 50% of classics!!! I also take Ash's advice and watch movies sometimes, but then again, I'm not stuck watching Buzz Lightyear! (my sympathies, btw!)

I hate the coding or whatever on goodreads. I just lsit books as I read them or maybe a couple ahead of time. I hate trying to fiddle with the html or whatever it's called. Why can't they just put it into the eding box: a B,U,I etc.., type buttons like most message boards.

There are a lot of good ones on that list so far! I did like The Gargoyle and gave it four stars, but the first 10% or so was pretty rough to get through. There are extensive and very detailed descriptions of a severe burn injury, and it's... gory. Moreso for me, I think, because I have a brother who suffered extremely severe burns as a teenager. I'm glad I hung in there with the book, though--some of Marianne's stories of the past in particular will stick with me.
