5.3 - T.H.A.N.K.S.G.I.V.I.N.G - Stardust
by Neil Gaiman
5.10- Name That Car - Powder and Patch by Georgette Heyer. My car really IS named Patch! It has a good reason too...it used to be held together with duct tape, until I could afford to go have it fixed. Now the duct tape is long gone, but the name stuck.
10.7 - City Lights - Paris: The Biography of a City by Colin Jones
15.6 - One Hit Wonders - The Innocent Man: Murder and Injustice in a Small Town by John Grisham. I didn't like it.

The Strange Affair of Adelaide Harris
Adelaide Harris was just seven weeks old.
Total points 150

Shakespeare Makes the Playoffs by Ron Koertge

Koertge's "Shakespeare" books are about baseball, but also a young man who loves poetry. A great combo and they are written in verse, too!
Shakespeare Bats Cleanup

10.4 Leaving civilization behind.....
Whatever You Do, Don't Run: True Tales of a Botswana Safari Guide by Peter Allison
4 stars
This was a great read. I wasn't surprised that Allison's stories about his interactions with wildlife, including sharing the bathroom with a water buffalo and having a stand-off with a male lion while holding a case of beer, were fascinating. What surprised me, was how much humor, detail, and love for nature he demonstrated while conveying the tales.

Twelfth Night
This one is funny and train-wreck-ish at the same time. Plenty of headdesk moments (y'know, the kind where you beat your head on the desk because people are being dumb). And I like how I can understand it, despite the archaic language. Yay Shakespeare!
5.5 Take Me Out to the Ballgame
Shakespeare Bats Cleanup
10.6 In the Pink
Fly on the Wall: How One Girl Saw Everything
15.3 Continental Divide
Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair and The Heights of Macchu Picchu
I got South Amercia, and Pablo Neruda was originally from Chile. It was interesting to read both of these, since they were from completely different parts of his career. I wish my library had another translation of "Twenty Love Poems" because it would be interesting to see how someone else translated them.
20.1 Bookmarks Magazine
The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella
This book was on the Bookmarks Goodreads Shelf for September/October 2010.

Well you might like it better than I did! I just couldn't relate to the characters or their lives at all - maybe I'm just too old for it!

5.6 - She's a Beauty

Crank
Fear/dislike of this author by a few parents caused an entire Teen Book Festival in my area to be cancelled this fall. Powerful book..."
That is absolutely ridiculous! I vote to try to hold a festival anyway in an alternate venue to spite stupid people everywhere! Either that or do something to honor her during Banned Books Week this year.
I think the same thing happened to her last year, too, and she wrote a poem, "Manifesto," for Banned Books Week in response to what happened. I love that poem so much that I printed off the poster, laminated it, and hung it in my office. It's thirty-one varieties of epic.

A Pale View of the Hills by Kazuo Ishiguro
I like those slow moving films where nothing much happens! The sort with beautiful scenery which are character based rather than plot based. The kind of thing where an old person reminisces about their past and through flashbacks and dialogue we learn about the events and relationships that have made them the person they are. This book is just like that and I really enjoyed it!
