15.5 Literature Map....
I felt like reading something dark and intense, so I entered Irvine Welsh. From the results I read:
Requiem for a Dream by Hubert Selby Jr.
5 stars
This was an awesome match. The book was one of the most atmospheric I have ever read. I felt like all five of my senses were engaged while reading about the characters' American dreams turning into nightmares due to drug dependency, loneliness, and apathy. Amazing movie too.

5.10- Name That Car
Goddess of the Sea - PC Cast - I would name a car Goddess because it can be gorgeous and yet tempremental at the same time
10.9 UNDER THE COVERS
Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict - Laurie Viera Rigler (GR Author)
This book came off the books for serious Jane Austen fans list - not my normal thing, but it is a book that i've had sitting on my shelf for a while. It was good, but I wouldn't necessarily call it flashlight worthy. I was intrigued enough to consider getting the second one by the same author though

30.8 (USA Today's Top 150) - For November 2009, I read Push by Sapphire AND for September 2000, I read The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. Both books were really hard to read, not for the level of wrting, but for the content.
30.5 (Roll the dice) - I got a 1 and a 3, so for 1(read a fantasy novel), I read Dead and Gone by Charlaine Harris and for 3(Ps and Qs), I read The White Queen by Phillipa Gregory.
5.4 (Horrible names) - ]I read What-the-Dickens: The Story of a Rogue Tooth Fairy by Gregory Maguire. The main female character is Dinah, which just sounds like how I say "diner" and just seems like a stupid name and the tooth fairy's name is "What the Dickens".

I used Option C for this task as both stories take place in Revolutionary Russia.
I loved this book. It wasn't always easy to read and certainly wasn't the love story I expected to find between the pages. It was a greater love story than that: the love of a man for his country. Brilliantly told. Pasternak was way ahead of his time and I can understand why the Regime of his time did not want the book published.
BIG BOOK Ticket, please. This book has 592 pages.

30.6 - KIRI's task: KIRI's task: Exploration & High Adventure
It's Fall, time to return from our summer travels and lazy days, but we don't have to give it all up. In honor of GIS Day (the 3rd Wednesday of November!) Read two books of non-fiction that travel the world exploring the boundaries of existence. This page might help you. Explorers
A. Read one book focusing on an unexplored destination with the potential of a life-threatening situation -- Ex. Into Thin Air: A Personal Account of the Mt. Everest Disaster, Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage, The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon
Books for task A should have an element of a life-threatening situation. In other words, you are on own your own and if you can't figure out how to survive, you won't.
A. A Long Way Gone by Beah Beah is a teen who must travel 350 miles to safety in Africa traveling through forests where he has never been before. Soldiers try to kill him.
B. Read about an explorer, navigator, discoverer, adventurer, or journeyer you've never heard of (or read) of before.
While people may think these are extreme (i.e. they'd never want to do it), they lack the life and death situations the books in A do.
B. Escape from the Deep by Kershaw (WWII submarine Captain and crew)
