How to Train Your Dragon is my favorite animated movie. Did you watch it yet, Niquae?

message 352: by Shadow Jubilee (new)

Shadow Jubilee (uhqs) Yes, I did. It was cute but I didn't care for the graphics. I liked the soundtrack better (purchased it on iTunes the first time I heard the music start playing). lol. I'm on the fence about whether to get my own copy of the DVD or not, just to re-watch it on a bored day.

I think after I return Enchanted, I will leave off borrowing DVD's. They only have a week loan period, and that is too short for me. It'd probably be cheaper for me to use iTunes rentals (damn late fines!). Tempted to subscribe to Netflix but I don't watch enough TV shows and movies to make it worthwhile.

I have on hold Sea of Monsters and the book following of the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. I also forgot to mention having Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead on hold. I think I'm 2/2.

I had no idea iTunes did movie rentals. How much do they charge? Netflix is a pretty good deal, I just renewed my subscription and I've been trying to get my money's worth.

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 253 comments Erika wrote: "OoO...I LOVED Olive Kitteridge! I've seen Fever 1793 around quite a few times lately. I would be interested in knowing how that one goes as well."

Erika, I read Fever 1793 and really liked it. It's a fictional account of the yellow fever epidemic in Philadelphia in late summer 1793. It's told in the voice of a 14-year-old girl and is really poignant in its telling. Gives you a look at the medical practices of that time, and how young people had to grow up so quickly. It's a quick read.

Good to know you loved Olive Kitteridge. I tried it once before, but I was so turned off with Olive's character that I returned it unfinished. Someone mentioned it last month, so I decided to try it again.

Nathalie (nankinat) | 101 comments I just borrowed Memoirs of a Geisha. The library where I'm stationed is pretty small, but I'll have to make due with what I have. :P

message 361: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I hope it's as good as the movie, Nathalie.

message 362: by Nathalie (new)

Nathalie (nankinat) | 101 comments It's pretty good so far. The movie was actually pretty close to the book from what I remember seeing of it.

message 363: by Sashana (new)

Nathalie (nankinat) | 101 comments According to the foreward, the author interviewed her, but didn't publish it until after her death, per her request. He also said that he translated it as more of a "memoir"-style story, so it might not be completely accurate. It's a good read, nevertheless.

I believe iTunes charges $2.99. You have a month to watch it. Once you start watching it, you have 24 hours to finish it. Not all the movies are available for rent but I assume that iTunes does have a pretty good selection.

message 369: by Lisarenee (new)

The book before that was Sway: The Irresistible Pull of Irrational Behavior which I thought was well written, researched and argued. I'm trying to increase my non fiction this year!

Kellyflower | 248 comments Paper Towns by John Green and The Master and the Muses by Amanda McIntyre are ready for me to pick up on Monday.

*Erika & Sashana - a lot of people HATED The Forest of Hands and Teeth. I wasn't one of them. You will get very aggravated with the main character , but seriously keep reading. The second book is really good and I'm eagerly awaiting the third. Also there is a short story that helps you understand the cruelty of a secondary character in the book.
it's called Hare Moon in the anthology Kiss Me Deadly: 13 Tales of Paranormal Love
