Amanda B. I just found out my book I requested from a neighboring county's library has just arrived! I can't pick it up until Thursday though :( Prairie Tale: A Memoir by Melissa Gilbert

message 252: by Stacy (new)

Stacy (stacybinnj) | 57 comments I think I'm going to have to read the books I have out and then hold off on any more library check outs so that I can read the books I have on my own shelves!

Same here, Stacy! I haven't requested any library books in over 2 weeks (that's a drought for me!) - I'm still waiting for two requests to come in for this month, but I'm only planning on one request in December so I can finish my A-Z Book Challenge. Like you, I've got to work on the books already on my shelves

message 254: by Sans (new)

Sans I know how you feel. I often get in reading moods and nothing else will do for me, even if I'd normally love the book. I'm in a reading lull funk right now. Hopefully the 5 hours of sitting in line for HP tonight will get me in the mood to read again. ^o^

message 255: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I went to pick up some books today! Even though I had to pay $10 in late fees I'm still happy.

Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver A Certain Slant of Light by Laura Whitcomb Sugar Daddy (Travises, #1) by Lisa Kleypas Prophecy of the Sisters (Prophecy of the Sisters, #1) by Michelle Zink Sex and the City by Candace Bushnell The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett

I picked these up last night:

Queen of the Night by J.A. Jance Dark Peril (Carpathians, #21) by Christine Feehan Wicked Prey (Lucas Davenport, #19) by John Sandford

I still have these checked out:

I need to work on books that I own but when I see a good book on the New rack at the library I can't resist!

message 257: by Kristen (new)

Kristen | 223 comments I'm getting ready to read Atonement by Ian McEwan, which I have been wanting to read for a couple of years now but had just never gotten around to it. AND my library actually had a copy of The Book Thief by Markus Zusak that had just been turned in 10 minutes before I asked about it. The librarian that I talked to said that he hasn't been able to keep that book in stock because it's so popular so I showed up at a great time!! I am so excited and can't wait to read them!

The Book Thief has a long wait list at my library.

Kristen | 223 comments Sashana wrote: The Book Thief has a long wait list at my library.

Yeah, I got really lucky! Even though the computer had said all of those books were checked out I decided to ask the librarian about it, and they had one that they hadn't even had time to check back in yet. lol I like to keep those librarians busy! ;o)

Sashana *Clears throat for dramatic music* Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins !! I rushed like a madwoman to my library this afternoon. I hope it was worth the wait because sitting around for 110 people to read it before I did was not a good feeling.

Rachel (treychel) | 1484 comments Woohoo! Haven't had a chance to go pick it up yet. All three copies are checked-in right now, but I am trying to read a few of the other 13 books I have checked out right now. Have fun reading and hope it is worth the wait!

Let me know what you think about Sugar Daddy. I read it recently and I honestly didn't know if I like it or not (weird, I know)

message 270: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (treychel) | 1484 comments Not weird at all. I am on the fence about a lot of books I read. I am that way with Fallen, right now.

message 271: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (treychel) | 1484 comments @Alyssa- I know! I was honestly mad with myself that I had not read it until aldulthood. I cannot imagine what I would have felt being younger. :) Lovely book. Need to buy it for my collection!

Shadow Jubilee (uhqs) Wondrous Strange by Lesley Livingston
Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris (Saw quotes on Goodreads that I really liked)

Alyssa (shyluck13) Lots of new ones after going to library with friend for project. I should SERIOUSLY stop going there.
An Abundance of Katherines by John Green Ballad A Gathering of Faerie (Books of Faerie, #2) by Maggie Stiefvater (I hated the first one so I'll see if I even read this) The Iron Daughter (Iron Fey, #2) by Julie Kagawa (didn't really enjoy the first one either but have Iron Queen on my ARC shelf so...) Forget Me Not by Anne Cassidy Grave Witch (Alex Craft, #1) by Kalayna Price (read and don't like) Hate List by Jennifer Brown

message 274: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I really want to read Matched, Erica. Let me know how it goes.

message 275: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (treychel) | 1484 comments Ghostgirl was really cute. Keep meaning to track down the others at the library. Speak was ok. It was not the literary masterpiece everyone said it was, in my opinion. Not to say you won't enjoy it though!

message 276: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I started Ghostgirl but didn't finish it. I liked the way the pages were set up and the storyline was fun and easy but I got distracted from it.

message 277: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I have a few books ready for pick up, but before I go for them I'll have to check out the 17 books I have out.

These are the books waiting for me at the library:

Rachel (treychel) | 1484 comments Oh my goodness, Sashana. You weren't kidding when you said you keep your librarians busy. Lol. I also have 17 books out, but I do self check out and only have two hold requests at the moment...my librarians have it easy. I should make it harder...

message 280: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (treychel) | 1484 comments New books:

I think my librarians and I have a love-hate relationship. I make them work harder and they receive incredible amounts of money from me in late fees. It's a win-win situation...except maybe on my part.

message 282: by Sashana (last edited Dec 07, 2010 04:52PM) (new)

Sashana Erika, it looks like it's worth the wait. Plus if you return it to your library some lucky person may also get to read it. And I requested Bitten about 2 or 3 months ago, so I hope it was worth the wait.

I just checked my library and they have Matched (Matched #1) by Ally Condie . YAY ME! I only have to wait for 5 people to read it.

message 283: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I can testify for Perfect Chemistry. I'm 95% sure that you will love it.

message 284: by Shay (new)

Shay | 923 comments The Instructions by Adam Levin by Adam Levin. Which is a 1000+ page book and I don't know why I got it considering I'm at my 100 book limit at the library and how am I going to find time to read this?
Noughts & Crosses (Noughts & Crosses, #1) by Malorie Blackman which I read about on a thread here and had to have.
The Inheritance of Loss by Kiran Desai
The Edge of the World (Terra Incognita, #1) by Kevin J. Anderson
Married with Zombies (Living with the Dead, #1) by Jesse Petersen

Guess which will probably be read first? (I know it's going to be Married with Zombie! I love my fluff and don't even feel bad about it.)

message 285: by Sashana (new)

Sashana It seems like the members of this group are loving zombies this month. Shay, I definitely would like to hear what you think about Noughts and Crosses since I was one of the people ranting about it.

It may be a while because I really have 100 library books checked out, plus 8 ebooks from the library. I love books and I really love free books.

I always say the only things better than books are free books so you and I are two peas in a pod. And I can't believe your library has 100 book limit! It must be very very large. I don't envy you though, I have a limit of 30 books and I have a hard enough time keeping track of them (due date and that sort of thing).

message 288: by Kristen (new)

Kristen | 223 comments Just out of curiosity Shay, how long will it take you to read those 100 books? It would take me a year! lol

message 289: by Sashana (new)

Ditto, or almost a year.

message 290: by Shay (new)

Shay | 923 comments I've been reading about 45 books a month now that I'm not reading as much fluff. About 80-90 books a month when I read only fluff.

Sashana Shay wrote: "I've been reading about 45 books a month now that I'm not reading as much fluff. About 80-90 books a month when I read only fluff."

Shay, do you happen to be a rich heiress (who doesn't need to work), kidless, and a vampire (who doesn't need sleep)? That's a lot of reading!

I have 3 kids, I'm not rich but I don't really work, and I don't sleep very much. I also read really fast. I'm not adverse, though, to becoming a rich heiress if anyone has any childless, rich uncles who need an heir. (I actually have one, but luckily longevity runs in our family, so he'll probably live another 40+ years.)

message 293: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Then I'm chalking up your speedy reading to either a)a life time of reading or b)super speedy reading powers. I'm leaning towards b though.

message 294: by Shay (new)

Shay | 923 comments Well, I probably do have more time to read than most people because I don't really work. That helps.

message 295: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (treychel) | 1484 comments 100!!! And I thought my 45 was bad! Lol. I have to keep half in the car at all times so the boyfriend doesn't know just HOW many I have. He only cares because we live in a one bedroom apartment (752 sq. ft.) and between his electronics and my books...oh boy...

Kristen | 223 comments Wow, Shay! I am totally speechless and in AWE, that is amazing!! You read in a month what takes me a year...and I really thought that I was a pretty fast reader. My problem is finding the time - one full time job, one weekend job, taking 12 college hours, married, and a two year old. Ughhh, I'm exhausted just typing about it.

message 300: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Four for $1 is a price that cannot be ignored, Erika! You did the right thing. I think you'll enjoy Perfect Chemistry and I've heard wonderful things about the Gemma Doyle series (I need to start reading them).
