8/8

1. Why is A at the beginning of the alphabet? Really, they are all just symbols of sound. Is there any reason that we always put them in an order? Is A more important than M? Is it because of that stupid song? Just look at the problems being the penultimate letter has caused Y. It's not the baby, but so far from the front that it has an identity crisis. Am I a vowel or am I a consonant? We don't condemn it for which way it decides to swing, be I'm sure we'd feel better for it if it would make up it's mind already. As it is, it is just a sad cry for attention. Burning Bright by Janine Ashbless (8/13)
2. It's been shown that a woman's IQ drops nearly 50 points for the 24 hours following birth. First, I bet that it was a man that came up with this study. Second, I wonder how many of the researchers were injured in the questioning. Happy Birthday, Julie An Irresistible Bachelor by Jessica Bird (8/4)
3. Deutschland, Deutschland über alles,
Über alles in der Welt,
Wenn es stets zu Schutz und Trutze
Brüderlich zusammenhält.
Von der Maas bis an die Memel,
Von der Etsch bis an den Belt,
|: Deutschland, Deutschland über alles,
Über alles in der Welt! :|
The Reader by Bernhard Schlink (8/17)
4. "Great Scot!" - Dr. Emmett Brown - Or rather in this case, a crappy book with a crappy Scot. - Men in Kilts by Katie MacAlister (8/28)
5. [Upon opening the Well of the Souls and peering down:]
Sallah: Indy, why does the floor move?
Indiana: Give me your torch.
[Indy takes the torch and drops it in:]
Indiana: Snakes. Why'd it have to be snakes?
Sallah: Asps... very dangerous. You go first. The Reincarnationist by M.J. Rose (8/9)
6. A guy walks into his therapist's office and starts yelling "I'm a wigwam. I'm a teepee. I'm a wigwam. I'm a teepee." over and over again until the therapist interrupts him saying, "Slow down! You're two tents." (say it out loud, you'll get it) Moon Called by Patricia Briggs (8/11) - main character's father was an Indian medicine man.
7. Wow, I love her books. Every time I see one that I haven't read I just have to pick it up and start reading on the spot. So last night I saw this book and I just had to read it. - First Lady by Susan Elizabeth Phillips (8/1)
8.What do we want? Romance! When do we want it? Now! If it's romance and it's happening now, I guess that it is contemporary romance. An Unforgettable Lady by Jessica Bird (J.R. Ward) (8/3)
9. Summer reading huh? Let's see what people list as Summer reading... Crime and Punishment, The Road, Kite Runner, Sister's Keeper... who made this list? Emo kids recruiting for Dr. Kevorkian? - The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella by Stephenie Meyer (8/2)
10. It's my category and I'll read what I want to. Read what I want. Read what I want to. You would read too if it happened to you. Don't Look Down by Jennifer Crusie (8/18)

Way too late I know but Veil of Midnight would work as well as some of it takes place in Germany (back-story events for Ashes of Midnight).
