I will count them then unless told otherwise. :)

Hi AV, so count from book 1, not the prequel (which I think is what you're doing if I read your first post right!) ;)

Thank you! :) That will cover 2 months. Not this month, but thanks for such a quick reply! :)

I really liked Hunger Games, but I didn't love it like some did. I had a hard time relating to Katniss (did I spell it ..."
Fran, if you thought The Hunger Games was horrifying you definitely shouldn't read the book that most likely inspired it - Battle Royale: The Novel. Now that is class A horror.

Thanks for the warning! I used to read books that made me uncomfortable or stretched my boundaries much more when I was younger. But as I am getting older, more romantic, light, HEA type books seem more my speed. Just a personal preference I guess. Real life adds enough stress, I need escapist fun for now.

If you say 2x4s I'm gonna whack ya with one. LOL! J/K. Horrors, yes! 2x4s, pass (as long as L³ will let me get away with it. LOL!

Not sure I'm up for it either, but would be a good idea! LOL!

Wait...no challenge in place...yet...so hold on the "crack"!

Since I'm starting in August, I'm posting two this month

Magic Bites or City of Ashes

How did you like the books? I haven't read either yet, though have debated picking up Vampire Academy...

And yes, please list bonus books! I've been tracking those, too. It's also nice to be able to ask someone about a first I've/we've been considering, or see how you like a favorite that I've/we've already read!

I really didn't like Circle of Honor. I just didn't connect with, and hence didn't care about, any of the characters which made it quite difficult to get through. To be honest I only finished it because I was reading it for a couple of challenges! However my sister has read it since and thinks it was better than I thought, so maybe I just wasn't in the right mood for it.

Do we do new posts with our updates on this one? I know on Steph's Seconds Challenge we update our original post, and I'm pretty sure we post new ones on yours, but I wanted to double check before I posted. :)

And having enjoyed a reading marathon in the past two days, feeling too mellow to send a CRACK! in your direction! :)

I've been a bad girl this month but it's not my fault, I was trying to find books 1-4 in a series to read for a challenge. I went with IAD in the end.

SOS Group Firsts Challenge
July 1, 2010 - June 30, 2011
Completed: 2/12
Read 12 books, 1 per month, that are the first in a new to me series.
July Grimspace, Ann Aguirre, 7-7-10 Really liked this book. For some reason it reminded me of The Ship Who Sang by Anne McCaffrey. Most likely because of the mind merging that takes place at one point.
Also read: Stormwalker, Allyson James, 7-25-10 Good start to a new series. Fans of her dragon series will like this one too.
Killing Moon, Rebecca York, 7-29-10 Interesting take on an old legend. I wasn't fully invested in the characters for some reason. I was intrigued by the police detective secondary character so might read more if his story is featured.

August Black Dust Mambo, Adrian Phoenix, 8-8-10 I really liked this book, enough that I'm looking forward to reading the next one in the series.
Also Read: Skin Game, Ava Gray, 8-17-10 The concept is interesting: Kayla can temporarily hijack anyone's best talent with a simple touch, the perfect ability for a con woman. No deep prose here, just a fun read (and lots of sex). After the first few pages, I really wasn't sure if I would even like the characters. But once I got further into the book, I was hooked. And while I was interested in how things would turn out for Kayla and Reyes, I actually found one of the secondary characters much more intriguing and I'm definitely going to read the second book in order to find out his story. Note: Ava Gray is a pen name for Ann Aguirre.
Destiny, Alex Archer, 8-21-10 I've got a few of the Rogue Angel books from when I was in Harlequin's Luna book club. This is the first time I've read any of them. Interesting enough that I'll eventually read some more, but they're not at the top of my TBR.
Covet, JR Ward, 8-23-10 Slow starter. Farther in, I became more interested in the story and it went quickly after that. Reminded me why I've taken a vacation from reading her BDB books.
