Firsts:
Duration: July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011

Read 12 booksthat are the first novel in a new-to-you series. Read one book per calendar month (that means, can't read and count 3 new ones in ONE month...)

For those joining later: You may include "extra" firsts in your first month of the challenge to reach a total of 12 books by June 30, 2011. After the first month, only ONE book per month will count!
Revision for people joining later: 1 book for the month you join, plus 3 or more back books along with your monthly first until you're caught up.

Example:
Joining in December: Read Dec. book, plus 3 books (July, Aug, Sept), read Jan. book plus 2 books(Oct, Nov).

Please post the date you finish the book you're counting.

LOL...I was pinching myself when I wrote that! But I knew that I would end up buying more firsts, reading them this month or August...then be out of a challenge! Hopefully I can savor them a little more, and take a little more time choosing what I want to read. I have to buy my books...so need to be careful with money and bookshelf space. Though if I cleared out spouses collection of records (vinyl, folks...) I could fit in quite a few more books!

I have that book in 5 or 6 challenges I think. I feel like I am doing something diabolical! HAHAHA It IS over 450 pages long so I am glad it can work for me so well. Over 450 is a chunky book in my mind. Most books I read that are that long or longer are volumes with more than one book. Like Night World, Den of Shadows, Kiesh'ra or Vampire Diaries. All of those are chunky books but they are more than one book in one volume (or ebook file in my case for most of those) I find I am more likely to read the long books on my Kindle than in paper. I wouldn't attempt many long books on paper. I just hate having to hold a heavy book open. I guess I am lazy LOL.

Oh and the best part about it is, it was a free download for Kindle. I don't know if it still is. I have been popping it into challenges for months but never getting to it. Well I will be reading it this month for sure!

Fantastic! I think the most "challenges" I've gotten out of a book is 5...love doing that! And feel a bit of a "diabolical" twinge...but bigger thrill at wiping out so many with one book...hehehehe!

I checked my list I have been compiling where I am listing each challenge book and which challenges they are used for. I highly recommend you all do one like I did it is SO helpful when choosing the books you want to read. Anyway A Kiss of Shadows is applied to:
Serial Reader, Chubby Chunker, Read July, Covers, Tournament, Firsts so far. That is 6!!! :)

Thanks :) I am trying to keep it organized. It is great. I would like a big one to post on my wall somewhere but I guess having it on here is more convenient. You should definitely try it! :)

Anyway I am looking forward to starting my book on the 15th. I have a couple in progress I can hopefully finish by then! :)

I have that info stored on my BookPedia software and my Stanza reader on iTouch. It's most definitely helpful and a great idea to track it.

Funny: I was plannign Dark Fever, Ill Wind, Riding the Storm and Slave To Sensation for this as well. Although I might not be able to wait that long on some of them. But they're in my 1st books TBR and I want that to be my main focus. I have a bad habit of collecting several books from a series before I know if I'll like it or not.
