"Firsts" Challenge
I noticed you put my name down twice as joined this challenge/group. It is only me once, I just posted my list again as I updated it. Would you rather I just edit as I go along, or should I repost entire list each time?
I think it's easier in this one if you re-post as you go along... Thanks for asking!Steph made up the list of names...so I'm sure she'll take care of that :)

I'll join. The problem won't be finding a new to me series to start, the problem will be limiting myself to just one. ;)SOS Group Firsts Challenge
July 1, 2010 - June 30, 2011
Completed: 1/12
Read 12 books, 1 per month, that are the first in a new to me series.
July Grimspace, Ann Aguirre, 7-7-10 Really liked this book. For some reason it reminded me of The Ship Who Sang by Anne McCaffrey. Most likely because of the mind merging that takes place at one point.
Also read: Stormwalker, Allyson James, 7-25-10 Good start to a new series. Fans of her dragon series will like this one too.

Future Plans:
Daffodil--I love Ann Aguirre's Jax series. They just get better. Also, she has a couple shorts on her site, one about March and one about Vel. Love Vel. Well, obviously I love March too, but I just want to give that big ole bug a hug--love him. :)
Hi Daffodil, Enjoy your firsts! the problem will be limiting myself to just one. ;)
LOL! We all seem to have a slight "problem" with that! Only the first one counts, but do track what other firsts you've read!
I also just made an executive decision, ammendum lol!For those joining later: You may include "extra" firsts in your first month of the challenge to reach a total of 12 books by June 30, 2011. After the first month, only ONE book per month will count!
Good one, Judithe. I agree -- more people, more fun. :)ETA: this challenge has the most participants in the group, by far. Great idea, Judithe! :)
Aren't executive decisions fun?Indeed they are...
And I would guess the reason at popularity is an absolutely guilt free way to pick up another new series because, ya know, you've got to get this month's first in. And picking up two is even better, just in case the first "first" is a dud....
(See how Judithe justifies her spending sprees....)
There are months like that, aren't there! If you can fit it in and enjoy it, please do! And if you can't, don't sweat it!
Was gonna say, right group, wrong person!! But lovely Laura covers that while Steph is catching Zzz's!
Judithe, I didn't want Amber to be longing for the ole whip and Steph not on for hours. The girl obviously likes the whip and I try not to judge. Different strokes & all that...
July 2010: August 2010:
September 2010:
Also read these 1st books in series this month...

I already have around 100 1st in a series books in my TBR. It was already a goal of mine to focus on my 1st in a series books. I even made a shelf for them on goodreads that I'm going to print out and as I'm unpacking my books, I'm goign to seperate the 1st in a series books out and give them their own special pile. I have gotten better about collecting a whole series before I read book 1 now though. I just have too many books and too limited funds to keep that up. So now I only do it if it's an author I know I already like and only if I find the books used somewhere.
Wow! Happy reading! It's so fun to find a new series that you really enjoy, and I hope you find a bunch in there!

I know, I was surprised at how many "firsts" I read.
I tried A Kiss of Shadows and I just couldn't get into it. No other books I read this month will count :(
