I don't see why not. If you list them as the same month. Only one will count for the challenge though. I would put as an example:
July: (bookcover) Also read: (bookcover 2)

If you have that many firsts in your collection I would say go ahead but I didn't start the challenge. I doubt anyone would mind. We will all appreciate the ideas for books to read. :)

That's right! I'm sorry I missed your question yesterday, and Awesomevegan's answer is correct. Only one goes to the challenge, but we'd love to see what other firsts you've read and what you think of them!

message 59: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments Well I really liked Haunted and it makes me want to read more Heather Graham books. Good thing I have a lot in my TBR. I downloaded Ghostwalk today from the library which is the 2nd book.

Love Only Once wasn't bad. Kind of tame for an old-fashioned bodice ripper.

Only the first one counts for the challenge, but I'm sure you can find more series to indulge in to complete the challenge even if you devour all your current TBR's this month! I've already added a couple to my TBR from here...and waiting to see what people think of some other series. Enjoy reading!

Thanks Judithe & Steph!! I did really enjoy it. I was a little annoyed with the way she let her family treat her before she wizened up. That was the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. It was a really good read though. I'm definitely going to read the next book.

southpaw285 Hi Judithe,

I have a question. Most of my series are contemporary and historical romance. Is it okay for me to use those genres for this challenge?

I apologize for not checking with you first before posting my list. I don't want to be doing something I shouldn't.

message 71: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (last edited Jul 15, 2010 06:07AM) (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments No worries!

The only restriction on this is that it be the first of a series! So please follow your interests & impulses in whatever you chose to read within those two guidelines!

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Both Pack Challenge and You Slay Me were fun, laugh-out-loud reads, whereas Grimspace was a little outside what I normally read being sci-fi so it took me a while to get into it.

I highly recommend the Magnus Pack series, I've read them all this month -the second was my favourite, my ribs suffered from laughing so hard, saying that the third was pretty good too!

July 2010
Pack Challenge by Shelly Laurenston ★★★☆☆ Jul 4 (erotica / PNR) <---READ THIS SERIES!
Grimspace by Ann Aguirre ★★★☆☆ Jul 6 (sc-fi)

Ugh. My husband has been home from work for 3 weeks and he is really cramping my style. There are a couple strikes going on here, and his union is not striking, but they are honoring the other strikes, so it's all the same to me--3 weeks of no paycheck. Double Ugh.

So I've been working more hours--I usually only work 2 days a week during summer vacation, my mom watches the kids one day and my m-i-l the other day, so then I'm not totally taking advantage of them. But since the hubby is home, I have been working a lot more to get some fundage.

But he's going back Monday, so I'll be back to my lazy lounging on the computer all day and blitzing the house the hour before he gets home. Lol. :)

Oh, and Sisters Red was just ok, not great, not horrible, hence the 3 stars. :)

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments @Ames
Thanks for the great snippets for your current reads! I have been wanting to check out Laurenston's pack series, just read Grimspace (I think I enjoyed it a little more than you did, but I'm a SciFi TV geek, so it was kinda like that for me) and I have You Slay Me on my TBR in 2010 list. So, I'm thrilled you had good things to say about that one too. :)

@Laura LuLu
That's right, sorry I'd forgotten. You were missed around here.

I've got Sisters Red to check out, but won't rush now.

@Angie

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments Welcome, Anita! Hope you find some great 1sts with the challenge.

I am new to, but enjoying, Lara Adrian's "Midnight Breed" series. I LOVE Showalter's LoTU series! One of my favorites. I'm interested to hear how you like Kenyon's DH series. That one I haven't started yet either. ENJOY!

I felt Grimspace deserved more stars than I gave it but I think I prefer watching my sci-fi rather than reading it, Steph. I love Star Trek (Voyager in particular though most trekkies don't for some reason), Stargate (both the movie & TV show but I haven't watched the last 2 seasons) and Firefly/Serenity amongst many others. I will be continuing with the Sirnatha Jax series but I'm not in a rush to read the next one.

Ames, I thought I'd be the same (watching v reading), but I liked it. I'm definitely still more of a Sci-Fi TV fan than book fan, at this point, but this series (Jax) has sneaked (seriously?! sneaked? I would'a though 'snuck'. Oh well, that shows how good my grammar is LOL) in and now has it's place on my "read entire series" list. :)

Lizz (Beer, Books and Boos) | 1193 comments What if I start a book this month but I don't finish next month. Could I count it for next month?

message 93: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Hmm...that's a question I hadn't considered at all!

As the challenge has begun, though, I don't see there being any problem with that. So, once you're registered for the challenge, count the book in the month you finish reading it.

message 97: by southpaw285 (new)

southpaw285 I did the same thing, Lizz. I even started a yearly challenge in RRRC at the first of this year to clean up all the old ones I was working on at the time.

So what do I do?! I sign up for a new challenge...to start 12 new series.

I'm still working on the old challenge that has a deadline of 12/31/10, but I seriously doubt I will be able to finish it. I will make a big dent in it though.

message 98: by Angie (new)

Angie | 106 comments I have just finished Dragon Heat. I struggled through the first half as I didn't really care about the characters and not much happened. But then it all picked up in the second half and I was glad I stuck with it. However, I still didn't care about the main characters but was really interested in Malcolm and Saba who will get their own story in The Black Dragon so I'm really looking forward to that.
