Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments I finally finished The Iron Daughter it took me six months to get to the end of because I kept putting it down. I gave it 3 stars the ending was the best part however Im in no hurry to get to The Iron Queen even though I own the book.

I am hoping with the different point of view the next one is better.

I have hopes that it will be better as well. Seeing how Ash is alot more mature even though he looks like a teenager he is very old.

Tya | 846 comments I just finished Prom and Prejudice and it was adorable. I continue to love Mr. Darcy no matter the circumstances. The Lydia/Wick business kind of made me laugh. Not what they were doing but the dialog in that whole scene.

message 1307: by Tya (new)

Tya | 846 comments I also just finished Deadly Little Games by Laura Stolarz. I super like this series but I've gotta say, the whole B plot of the book could have been avoided with a conversation between Ben and Camelia. When I finally learned why Ben was avoiding Camelia (conveniently right after his premonition came to pass) I just wanted to shake him. It all could have been avoided! But it was all true to character, I suppose. Ben has had troubles being honest and open and just plain communicative throughout the entire series. Here's a hint fella: talk to your girlfriend.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Just finished Heartless by Anne Elisabeth Stengl it was really beautiful. The writing reminded me of Robin Robin McKinley 's, but much easier to sink into. I'll post a review later.

Wither (Chemical Garden, #1) by Lauren DeStefano

loved it! Not a lot happened (in terms of action) because the whole story takes place in one house, but the premise was so disturbing/tragic and interesting. And it was very well written and all the characters felt very realistic to me. I hope to see better/more worldbuilding in the sequel though

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Glad you liked it!! There seems to be so many mixed reviews on Withered.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 827 comments I really liked Withered as well. There were parts in the book that didn't interest me at all, but by the end of the book I was very invested. The relationship between the sister wives was very touching.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Just finished City of Ashes. Just awesome. Totally an emotional joy ride.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Just noticed that goodreads has way too many pages for City of Ashes, showing it over 600 and the book only has 453. I've never incountered a miss paged book before.

message 1314: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne I just finished Outside In (Inside Out, #2) by Maria V. Snyder and liked it but not as much as the first one. Now I'm reading The Vespertine (The Vespertine, #1) by Saundra Mitchell .

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 827 comments Shera (Book Whispers) wrote: "Just noticed that goodreads has way too many pages for City of Ashes, showing it over 600 and the book only has 453. I've never incountered a miss paged book before."

Could it be your edition is different? The hardback, paperback and ebook all have different page numbers.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments could be. I have hardback, and that's what I thought it said, I'll have to double check.

Compaire the ISBN numbers. Some books have different font sized too.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Yeah, no hardback version. I will have to do the isbn thing. But I'm not to worried I've arleady started on the next one, my eyes are burnt out from reading . . .

Aw dont hurt your eyes i think my prescription needs upping from reading so much. Sometimes i dont read at all then Ill get on a roll and read book after book.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments I know!! I"m pretty much blind with out my glasses.

The same thing happens to me, I rarely read or have dry spells and then I just binge read like crazy.

message 1321: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I finished reading Mixed Magics: Four Tales of Chrestomanci by Diana Wynne Jones. 'Stealer of Souls' was by far the best story in the book. A very bad enchanter wants to swallow the souls of past Chrestomancis and become all powerful. He kidnaps two boys to act as his apprentices. Big mistake. 'The Sage of Theare' is the 2nd best story. This story confused me some since it involved alternate deminsions, universes, and travel between them. The lesson of the story was 'Ask questions!'. 'Carol Oneir's Hundredth Dream' was short and sweet. She bottled dreams until her cast of characters rebelled. 'Warlock at the Wheel' was meh.

You Against Me by Jenny Downham

it was PHENOMENAL. gave it 5 stars. It didn't make me cry, but I still felt very emotional reading it. Interesting thoughtprovoking subject, realistic characters and the love story was very sweet.

I have that on my to-read list but don't actually own the book yet :p

I just finished reading Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler and it was sweet and heartbreaking at the same time. It's a meaningful book to read for the summer if you want to feel like you're on the beach without actually being on the beach lol!

message 1324: by Jessica B (new)

Jessica B | 292 comments I finished Cloaked by Alex Flinn yesterday and I can't say I was overly impressed by the book. I was a big fan of Beastly by Alex Flinn but this story did not measure up.

message 1325: by Angela (new)

Angela B I've been reading Unbound by Kim Harrison and just read a short story by Jocelynn Drake and I really enjoyed it. Has anyone here read any of her books she writes the Nightwalker series

I have read them. They are good and different from a lot of stuff that is out there.

message 1327: by Angela (new)

Angela B Good to hear they were good :) I added the first one to my list

I added Drake to my tbr after reading that book, but never actually looked her up.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 827 comments Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma

Such a heartbreaking book, but also so very good.

I keep seeing that book all over GR. It looks good, but my library doesn't have it.

I did look her up but don't know anyone who has read her

I wasn't able to purchase it or get it from my library either. I think it's not available in the U.S. yet. One of my friends was able to get me an ebook copy.

That is what it looked like to me. Hopefully it will come here soon and then I can check it out.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments I know!!! I want to read it too, but it hasn't gotten a paperback release yet.

Jessica B | 292 comments I just finished with Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen and Texas Destiny by Lorraine Heath . Both were really great books!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 827 comments Just read some smut Backstage Pass (Sinners on Tour, #1) by Olivia Cunning is free on B&N and Amazon for ebook and ended up reading it because I kept seeing everyone else reading the thing and talking about it. It was a fun read, but enforced the idea in my head that dating a rock star would never be a good thing.

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments It's not free anymore. :( shucks.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 827 comments ack, sorry. It was free just a few days ago.

message 1339: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments I was able to grab it, but haven't read it yet. People seem to really like it though.

Everytime I see the previews on TV for Water for Elephants my head just spins with excitement. I feel guilty that I have no desires to read the book.

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments I tried reading the book but couldnt get into it I dont think its my type of genre maybe ill re-try it though.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments It's definitely not my genre type. So a movie release is just perfect for me. The guy from Twilight actually looks like he's acting a different role for once.

message 1343: by Whitney (new)

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments which guy? Ive noticed the commercial but didnt really NOTICE the commercial. lol

I am you guys with this one not being your genre. I didn't plan on reading it but a friend talked me into it. I knew I couldn't "read" the book, so I got the audio and it was really good. Try that, it might work for you.

Robert Pattenson

message 1346: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments I bought this book and am planning on reading it before the movie. Robert Pattenson looks amazing in the commercials! I honestly don't understand why he was made to be so ugly in Twilight. He's so good looking in all the other movies he does. & I never thought all his movies where the same type of character. O.o I've only ever watched two of them and some commercials for another though.

message 1347: by Angela (new)

Angela B I just got The Forest of Adventures (Knight Trilogy, #1) by Katie M. John which is an ARC that I won on goodreads and I'm pretty excited because it was directly from the author from London...I've never got a package from another country before

message 1348: by Jessica B (new)

Jessica B | 292 comments I finished The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie (Highland Pleasures, #1) by Jennifer Ashley last night and though it was awesome! I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical romance!

Sooz Malinoski (soozee) | 55 comments I've been on a JR Ward kick... Finished these over the past few days....
Lover Avenged (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #7) by J.R. Ward Lover Mine (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #8) by J.R. Ward Lover Revealed (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #4) by J.R. Ward

Loved them all, but Lover Mine was probably my least favorite....
