I just read... And it was...

I'm still against long hair on guys, but it didn't look horrible on Orlando

pretty good
It set up Romeo and Juliet situation on the first page- Gaurdian/Juliet/Calla Searcher/Romeo/Shay
I kept on hoping they'd break away from that and Calla would give Ren a chance. I'm team Ren. It didn't happen- next book comes out this summer though- and this book was good enough that I'll try book 2. I've got hope.

The characters were fairly darn realistic, which made it feel refreshing. It was one I had been avoiding for a while because I don't usually get into realistic fiction, but people kept telling me how good it was and I really found it to be so cute, snarky and the drama was not fake angsty, but exactly how young people of that age would act.

and they were... good
They start out with good sexual tension and then there is a side of mystery. I like that
I've been reading so many young adult novels that I need to take a break and read some romance once in a while.

The runes are about the only thing in the book that I don't love. But that's because tere's a greater emphasis on them than necessary. However, it has to do with her past and what will happen in the future so I get why she does it.

Finished

I hear you about the Shaft. It did kind of over power the book at times. Still enjoyed it.

I promise to read Still Missing Angela. Hopefully *fingers crossed* in May.

Just added that to my future purchase pile. It sounds so goosebump good . . .

Q: Is the horsemen of apocalypse thing a religious story, or like greek mythology? I've never heard of it before. O.o

[bookcove..."
I do plan on it. I am #1 on the list for it at the library, so will get it first, but we will see how long it takes them to get it to me. I really liked her other series, so I have high expectations for this one.
I wasn't paying attention for the new BDB book and won't get it until the second go round with all the copies. I am somewhere around #40, but they ordered 25 copies, so hopefully it will go fast.
Umm...that's really disturbing, Jasmine. I have noticed (from a teaching perspective) that practicing Christians tend to be the least aware of their own religion. Jews, Muslims, and Hindus that I teach tend to have actually read the books their beliefs are based on, rather than bits and pieces. They might interpret them in interesting ways, but it seems that statistically, they know at least know the stories better. I remember when most obsessive and outspoken Christian wondered why we were discussing Exodus when talking about Judaism. He said, "what do the Hebrews have to do with the Jews? Isn't that a Christian story?" It took effort not to bang my head on a desk. He goes to church 4 days a week. You think he would learn about the history of his religion while there at some point. Obviously, not EVERYONE is that way, but I'd say that about 95% of the Christians I know haven't read more than 100 pages of the Bible.
(Sorry, I have issues with anyone, no matter what their choices are, believing in something without actually knowing where the belief came from, reading the documents themselves, and then establishing where they stand on said belief. It's okay if you're studying to see where you stand, but if you're a "die hard" then you better know your stuff. If I offend someone then I'm sorry, but I don't see why asking someone to actually read a book that they put so much faith into is negative thing.)

Seeing as they're kind of there at the "end of the world" it's kind of memorable part. I think I knew the creation story, noah's ark, some guy died on a cross, there were 3 wise men, and 4 scary ass horsemen by the time I ever even set foot in a church or knew what a Christian was. And that was back around 5 or 6 years old. My mothers agnostic, but thinks she's episcopalian, dad aethiest and I still managed to get that info. I know that's not normal, but the adult you asked should of known.

Totally agree. I really don't go to church, but when people start talking biblical around me I usually know more then they do. People around here don't know about the horsemen either and it's a huge christian community. I think the Church's just go over the same stuff over and over again never truly covering "all of it."

Note- This is all just my thoughts and has nothing to do with research or bashing any ones beliefs. Although I would love to study different religions in Grad school or something.

Shoulder length can be hot sometimes, but all this waist length or down his back type hair is just yuck. I sometimes wonder if the authors are stuck in the 70's or 80's and still think that look is sexy or something.
