Probably for the best. ;)

Carol Cork *Young at Heart Oldie* (httpsrakesandrascalswordpresscom) | 2140 comments I'm reading Rakes & Radishes by Susanna Ives - the hero is definitely different to the norm. The title gives a clue.

Cheryl (ghemomma) | 900 comments I'm not currently reading anything... don't really know what to read! Does anyone have a recommendation for a book with a hero that is almost "predatory", like he will stop at nothing to get his woman.. think Kylemore from Claiming the Courtesan by Anna Campbell.

message 1654: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments What about Sebastian, Lord Dain from Lord of Scoundrels?

message 1655: by MashJ (last edited Oct 23, 2010 03:26PM) (new)

MashJ | 733 comments I think that is more in the vein (ha ha) of some of the paranormals.

It reminds me a little of Shana Abe's The Smoke Thief.

or how about Tempt Me At Twilight although as I've said before Harrry never seemed all that ruthless to me.

I think that Stephanie Laurens also may write books a little like that- as her books just make me want go to sleep I am unable to recommend any in particular.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 630 comments I am reading Bayou Moon (The Edge, #2) by Ilona Andrews which so far so good!

message 1657: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (ghemomma) | 900 comments Thanks y'all, Dhes I've read Lord of Scoundrels- Loved it and Lord Dain! And I've read Harry's book, don't have any Stephanie Laurens books... I guess this is harder than I thought! I'll figure something out! :)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Danielle has a shelf for stalkerific heroes I think, Cheryl. Check that out. I have a "caveman" shelf for crazy alphas, too.

message 1659: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (ghemomma) | 900 comments Oh thanks Dhestiny! I'm gonna go stalk your shelves now..

message 1660: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments No problem. The caveman shelf is fairly new, so you might not find much on there.

message 1661: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (ghemomma) | 900 comments So whilst I was browsing Dhestiny and Danielle's bookshelves for "predator-type" heroes, I became distracted by a shelf for "Captive-Kidnapping" (another favorite theme) and noticed a Julie Garwood book in it, Honor's Splendour, which I haven't read, and quite honestly it has been far too long since I've read a Garwood book! I own all of her historicals but I've been savoring them since she doesn't have any cooking on the burner at the moment! So, I am currently reading Honor's Splendour by Julie Garwood!

message 1662: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Wooooot! I loved that book, Cheryl! I hope you love it, too.

message 1663: by Laura (new)

Laura (filoviridae) | 783 comments I finished ArchEnemy (The Looking Glass Wars, #3) by Frank Beddor this morning and started Talk of the Ton (Berkley Sensation) by Eloisa James .

message 1664: by D.G. (last edited Oct 24, 2010 10:16AM) (new)

D.G. I'm reading a bunch of books: One Dance with a Duke (Stud Club, #1) by Tessa Dare Untraceable (Tracers, #1) by Laura Griffin Aesop's Fables by Aesop Eats, Shoots & Leaves The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation by Lynne Truss .

Believe it or not the punctuation book and the fables are going the best. I'm hating the heroine in Untraceable (if I didn't have to read it for two challenge, I'd have stop reading it) and I'm annoyed that the hero of One Dance with a Duke who went out to check a horse 1 hr. after his wedding - there was an excuse but it didn't make any sense. In romance, I want a hero who just married the heroine to be thinking on one thing only and a horse is not it!

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I love Eats, Shoots & Leaves, DG. Fun book.

Bekah (bekah317) | 2750 comments one dance with a duke wasn't a fav of mine D.G. - the whole club thing seemed stupid to me..or maybe I just didn't get it. There were a few good parts but otherwise an overall disappointment.

D.G. Bekah wrote: "one dance with a duke wasn't a fav of mine D.G. - the whole club thing seemed stupid to me..or maybe I just didn't get it. There were a few good parts but otherwise an overall disappointment."

That's exactly how I'm feeling. At least the heroine keeps reminding them how stupid it is...

message 1668: by Bekah, Fellow Kleypasaholic (new)

Bekah (bekah317) | 2750 comments I can't take a book seriously if the plot/premise is too unbeliavable--or just plain weak.

I'm reading The Accidental Mistress by Tracy Anne Warren
This is the second in the series and its not to bad so far, also my first by this author. So far they have been solid 3* reads for me.

Katherine | 828 comments Then Comes Seduction I loved the first book in this series so I hope this is just as good.

message 1670: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I actually enjoyed the whole Stud Club trilogy, and in the ending of the final book, we really, truly, see what motivated Leo to start the club. And it made perfect sense to me.

message 1671: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I'm reading Port of Paradise by Lisa Marie Rice and enjoying it. It's not as heavy on action as I thought it would be, but I do love Franco. :)

message 1673: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Bekah, not everyone enjoyed it as much as I did, but maybe later on down the road you'd enjoy it more.

message 1674: by Katherine (last edited Oct 24, 2010 01:38PM) (new)

Katherine | 828 comments I would have enjoyed the Stud Club trilogy more if I had liked the heroine in the first book. She just really irritated me. The second book I liked a lot and the 3rd was better than the first. I'm glad to have read them.

message 1675: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I also liked book 2 a lot, Katherine, though I think we're in the minority. LOL

So far I'm liking the heroine way more than the hero...but again, I'm just a third into the book.

A problem I have with books is when something bugs me, it pulls me out the story and I can't get into it. It's like trying to watch a movie with loud music in the next room...you keep trying to concentrate in the story but all you hear is the music. When that happens, I just give up on the book or if the book is not terrible, I'll finish it but won't continue the series.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I started Ride the Fire (Blakewell/Kenleigh Family Trilogy, #3) by Pamela Clare last night. Wow, the prologue was... torture. Literally.

message 1681: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (ghemomma) | 900 comments Dhes, you've read the two books that come before that one?

message 1682: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments No, she said they can all be read as stand alones, that she just put in some things for people who read the first 2 books, some familiar things, but that it can be read alone. I have 1 week before I have to start the next challenge, and i know this is going to be an emotional read, so I decided to start it while I have time to devote to it.

So far, it's very good. Takes place during the same time period as Surrender (MacKinnon’s Rangers, #1) by Pamela Clare and Untamed (MacKinnon's Rangers, #2) by Pamela Clare . I'm LOVING the hero, Nicholas, and the heroine, Bethie. She's got some fight in her!

message 1690: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Me too, Heidi!!! I LOVED it when we actually learn just why the Stud Club was so important to Leo. I loved it!

So you're in the Stud Club #2 Minority Club with Katherine and I. LOL

I really like it so far. I'm only on disk 2 of 13 though, so I have a ways to go still. I absolutely loved the BDB books.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 630 comments I got Covet through the post today and am also looking forward to starting it as I am a huge fan of BDB too! Is it alot different Megan?

message 1695: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I LOVED Covet!!!! Don't compare them to the BDB, and you'll enjoy it more. The Brothers in the BDB are like none-other, but wow... Jim is amazing in Covet, and I've heard Crave is excellent.

Book 2 was definately the best of the 3 IMO.

message 1698: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Book #1 in the Stud Club is improving for me and it's all because of the heroine. I really love practical heroines.

Before that I read When It's Perfect by Adele Ashworth and liked it...will definitely read more books by her!
