thanks! I really like it so far.

I'm loving it so far...I'll post when I read a bit more (when I get home tonight, I should be around 100 pgs.)

Mandy Glover | 576 comments Finished Four Play by Maya Banks last night and holy smokes, it was HAWT!! LOL!! The Maya Banks part was good, the Bradley part I could have done without.

Definate "to read" though if you like that kind of stuff. And I do. (Again, the perv! LOL!)

Laura (filoviridae) | 783 comments I managed to finish Frankenstein by Mary Shelley last night before attending my book club to discuss it. It's nothing like how pop culture portrays it and I found it tedious until the halfway point.

I started Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake by Sarah MacLean last night when I got home and I'm loving it so far.

Katherine | 828 comments Laura I'm glad you are liking it.

I am starting Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen . Reading it for a Goodreads group and looking forward to it.

Mandy Glover | 576 comments Quick read at lunch today(still not one on my October challenge lists! Sigh . . .)

A Trick of the Moon by Melinda Barron 3 stars
Concept was good but was just ehhh . . .really impossible scene in a hot tub. Thankfully, it was at the end.

I found Northanger Abbey to be a lot of fun...it's more of a satirical romp than her other books.

message 1559: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Oh I loved Northanger Abbey. It's tied with Emma and Persuasion for my second favorite Austen book! It's soo funny.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 630 comments I must be in the minority as apart from Mansfield Park, Northanger Abbey is my least favourite, I much prefer Persuasion and Pride and Predjudice. I didn't find it as romantic as the others and the girl in it annoyed me a little

From what I've read on Jane Austen, Northanger Abbey is one of her least popular of her six completed novels. I found it humorous in the fact that it was making fun of the gothic genre of which I'm not a fan to begin with.

message 1563: by Alycia (new)

Alycia | 1478 comments That was the whole point of NA since gothic novels were the rage back then :)

I thought NA was ok- it is very gothic of course. Mansfield Park I found dull I'm afraid. P&P, S&S, E and P all have wonderful qualities and Emma and Persuasion have both really grown on me over the years.

message 1565: by Alycia (new)

Alycia | 1478 comments My favorites are definitely P & P, S & S, Emma, then Mansfield Park. MP is definitely on the slower side.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 630 comments I just found the cousin thing a bit weird I think, and I didn't like Fanny very much

message 1567: by Alycia (new)

Alycia | 1478 comments She is definitely one of the weakest heroines Austen created.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 630 comments All I remember really about MP is that they made a massive fuss over them staging a play and that Fanny married her cousin!

message 1569: by Alycia (new)

Alycia | 1478 comments LOL, that is basically most of the plot other than everyone was mean to Fannie except for her cousin

message 1570: by D.G. (last edited Oct 13, 2010 03:35PM) (new)

D.G. Oh I HATED Mansfield Park - I think I even wrote a somewhat scathing review.

NA is supposed to be a tongue in cheek parody of the gothic genre, which was very popular at the time. :) That's why Catherine is silly/naive/overly dramatic/imaginative bordering on slightly demented. :) And I loved the hero! He was so funny, nice and sweet.

message 1571: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 828 comments I've read NA before but really remember very little about it. Mansfield Park is my least favorite because I can not stand Fannie.

Exactly! Knowing that prior to reading NA helped me to appreciate it more.

And yes, Fanny Price is a rather boring heroine.

I'm starting Remarkable Creatures by Tracy Chevalier today. I'm a big fan of Tracy Chevalier so this shouldn't be a difficult read.

Mandy Glover | 576 comments Just finished Burning Up (Includes The Iron Seas, Prequel; Children of the Sea, #3.5; Psy/Changeling #0.5) by Angela Knight and WOW!! I'm sooo going out and buying every Meljean Brook Steampunk I can get my hands on!!

I only read the Singh and Brook stories. Couldn't get in to the other two. I'm also going to have to go back and read all of the other Singh Psy/Changeling books. YAY!

I am a big fan of Tracey Chevalier as well, but I have to say this is my least fave book of hers, I though Burning Bright and Fallen Angels was much better.

Carolyn F. You know Dhestiny, I've read books 2 and 3 but still haven't read book #1. I always do things the hard way.

message 1586: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Carolyn, this is actually a re-read of #1 because I read it a few years ago, and there was so much else going on in my life that I can't remember much about it, and I want to continue on with the series.

I must try Nalini Singh. Where is best to start?

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 630 comments I think it depends what you like, I personally prefer her Psy-Changeling series, which is PNR rather then UF. It starts with Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling, #1) by Nalini Singh and is shifter series. But if you like UF, and love very dangerous, ruthless heroes then you would probably prefer the Guild Hunter series which starts with Angels' Blood (Guild Hunter, #1) by Nalini Singh . But they are both good though and she has some great ideas in her books.

message 1592: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. Finished The Secret Adversary by Agatha Christie , now reading Wild West Boys by Lorelei James and Contact by Susan Grant .

message 1598: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. I liked Pride Mates Dhestiny. It was better than I thought. Kind of a different take from the normal werewolf story.

message 1599: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (last edited Oct 18, 2010 09:55AM) (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments At first I was worried it would be too much like Lora Leigh's Breeds. But we're already on page 29 and the hero hasn't sexed up the heroine yet, so I don't think they'll be too similar after all.
