December 2009 Reading Challenge
(doing Snoopy dance of joy) YES--I finally decided to heck with it and sat down and finished reading Spectre. That's only 4 down tho. But I think I might just sit down a bit tomorrow and forget all the things that I "need to do" and just read, read, read.

I don't understand why so many people LOVE Shiver. I'm surprised. It was shit for me.
lol Jessica. Well, I'd planned on taking today and doing NOTHING but reading. So of course I woke up with a sinus headache that verged on migraine in proportions. I spent the day in bed, with no lights or noise. Sigh, I'm NEVER going to get this challenge finished. And I'm starting to get testy about that. I've finished all 11 OTHER challenges this year. I refuse to ruin my perfect record. I WILL COMPLETE THIS CHALLENGE. (screaming and throwing major tantrum)
Um, ok, I'm feeling MUCH better now that I've gotten that off my chest. And my headache HAS eased up--now I just have what I call "the headache hangover". Feeling blah, body aches, eyes not focusing well (good thing I am a touch typist), and the remains of the headache itself. I still have 13 days to finish this, so hopefully I'll get there. I've finished my Christmas shopping--except for getting the bags to put everyone's presents in--and the oven stuffer chicken for "back-up to the ham" for Christmas dinner. (Oh, and I am having the grocery store "cater" most of my cooking for Christmas, so I'll have to pick dinner up there on the 24th.) Maybe now I'll have a little time to read. Hum, if I sew for an hour, then read for 2 hours? Or maybe it should be sew for an hour, read for THREE hours? Which do you all think is the way to go? :o)

LOL! I say almost the same thing to my husband all the time except my quote is, "I'm addicted to books - so what?! It's healthier than crack . . . although the way I read, sometimes just as expensive."

Last year I read 160 books - almost all paperback, but most of those mass market version. If you figure that 110 of them were mass market at about $7 ea and the other 50 paperbacks are around $10 ea that comes out to $1270/year, $105/month, or $3.48/day.
I figure it's about the same as having a coffee from Starbucks every day and since I DON'T do that, I'm pretty much breaking even. :-)

Love the math! Every year I tell myself that I should keep track of my spending on books for the year. But then I don't. I think that I'm kinda afraid to know how much I really spend a year!
Martina--we can tell you don't go to Starbucks. I go there once in a while for a hot chocolate--and believe me, if all it cost was $3.48 I'd be happy.

Ann...that is too funny but true as far as it usually turns out when entering a book store. I feel as you do, it could be a really bad addiction such as drugs etc so it's not an addiction I plan on conquering anytime soon. Unfortunately, I will no longer have a book store where I live so that is actually going to help the addiction. The closest one will be about 40 minutes away, but thankfully there is always Amazon.

But, But, but Ahrcadia ~(Fhantasie) Half.com isn't GOOD for Bookshoppersaholic. You can't go in and FONDLE the books. Of course, that's also the problem with Amazon--but that doesn't stop me from shopping in both places. And PBS, the library booksale, used bookstores, thrift stores, yard sales. . .
And Someone Upstairs decided to take pity on me--its SNOWING outside. We have about 10 or so inches outside right now, and they are calling for another 8 or so before it ends. So I'm snowbound. Hot chocolate, some Oreo Cookie Bonbons, and a good book--or 3--what more can you ask for, right? :o) Aaahhh, time for ME = time to READ.

Hey, it’s a clean up challenge so I’m cleaning up, eventhough it doesn’t necessarily concern my TBR-list as stated in my original challenge post. What can I say: I’m a girl who’s used to changing the list every few days.
Also: one of my most eagerly anticipated books, Death’s Mistress by Karen Chance is coming out soon and I was lucky enough to get an early copy!!!! So I needed to re-read the prequel, Buying Trouble and the first in the series, Midnight's Daughter.
My TBR List

4. Wicked Ties by Shayla Black
5. Living Dead in Dallas by Charlaine Harris
6. Strange Brew by P. N. Elrod, Karen Chance, etc.

9. Night Pleasures by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Read:

I can’t express how much I love this book! This is the book which made me fall in love with urban fantasy. The world building is fantastic, plot is action packed and always unpredictable, the characters are layered and complex and there is a lot of sarcasm and humor in the book. And romance too (Louis-Cesare…. *sigh*). An absolute 5 stars!
Also read:

This short story in the anthology On the Prowl is the unofficial prequel to the Midnight’s Daughter series by Karen Chance. The story is action packed, sexy and really funny.

I must be one of the few on Goodreads to have read the whole anthology. My full review explains more but in short:
Sherrilyn Kenyon: another attempt to make me hate her writing: no explanation of the Dark Hunters (or Were-Hunters or whatever) universe and totally unbelievable (re)actions from the h/h couple *
JR Ward: I missed the male POV cause the story was a little too sappy for me. And then she went along and wrote the epilogue and I was in Sap Hell. ***1/2
Susan Squires: I was pleasantly surprised. Cute little story. ***
Dianna Love: The hero was an absolute sap, the heroine was a poster girl for too stupid too live characters. **1/2
