Just finished We Need to Talk About Kevin Trying to decide whether to read Room orSuper Sad True Love Story next and also considering getting How Children Succeed: Grit, Curiosity, and the Hidden Power of Characterfrom audible.com, but I have always thought that audio books are cheating somehow.
BunWat wrote: "Yay I'm glad you enjoyed Anansi Boys!!"I'm glad you enjoyed it, also. I really like Gaiman's work.
Just starting 4th and final installment of German Turkish PI Kamal Kayankaya. Book is titled "Kismet". Of the series, I found the 2nd best (shortest too) the best translated and paced. Hopes for this one.
Phil wrote: "Finished Anansi Boys (enjoyed it very much) and moving on to The Princess of Burundi."Disappointed. Moving on to Furies of Calderon.
Just started on The Nocturnes by Kuzao Ishiguro. My first book that I'm reading that features classical music. Seems good so far
I finished The Secret Agent (good, I recommend it) and just started The Stranger's Child which so far is AWESOME. AWESOME.
Furies of Calderon done. The advantage of having a cold is having more time to read.Moving on to Academ's Fury.
Lobstergirl wrote: "I finished The Secret Agent (good, I recommend it) and just started The Stranger's Child which so far is AWESOME. AWESOME."I liked the first half of The Stranger's Child and then it kind of fizzled out. I enjoyed The Line of Beauty though, have you read it?
I'm having a hard time finding books to read right now. None of the ones I have available appeal to me at the moment. They're either too heavy or too light, too demanding or not demanding enough. Damn, I'm hard to please. Any random suggestions?

Tell the Wolves I'm Home
and that was very good. I'm also reading some John Green right now that's pretty good:
Looking for Alaska
Thanks Amy. I have "Tell the Wolves..." on hold, and liked "Looking for Alaska" (but John Green is a hit-and-miss for me). The most recent books I've enjoyed are Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter , Eutopia: A Novel of Terrible Optimism and The Locusts Have No King, but I'm not in the mood for anything similar. I'm looking for something unexpected that I wouldn't necessarily have picked myself.

I've enjoyed several of his novels and short stories, but recently finished "1Q84" and absolutely hated it, so I'm afraid my Murakami days are over. Which ones are you reading?
I just got Norwegian Wood and Kafka on the Shore. In the middle of Infinite Jest right now, so it will be a few weeks before I get to the Murakami.

Yes, I thought it was excellent.
Yes, I thought it was excellent.
Thankfully I have finally finished A Cold Day For Murder - Dana Stabenow. Now listening to Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen.
Finished listening to Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen which too bad. Now I am reading All Fall Down - Erica Spindler.
Couldn't get into All Fall Down - Erica Spindler, so now decided to read Priced to Move - Ginny Aiken.
Wuthering Heightsis so dreary, and still at page 50, gonna postpone it and read Pride and Prejudice, but WH is good so far (just don't like Catherine and Heathcliff). Reading P&P to see what the hype is all about...
I had two friends come out with books this month so am reading them... Linda Stasi - her book The Sixth Station as well as Rebecca Dana's new book- Jujitsu Rabbi and the Godless Blonde: A True Story... and if that isnt enough, Im still trying to slog through The Last Lion 3: Winston Spencer Churchill: Defender of the Realm, 1940-65... so am doing some lighter reading in between, like a little Julie Klam Friendkeeping: A Field Guide to the People You Love, Hate, and Can't Live Without and The Blogess Let's Pretend This Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir
Jaimie wrote: "Lately, I've been so indecisive when I'm trying to pick my next book. Last night I spent half an hour staring at my bookcase until I finally picked something. I do like to read something light afte..."If something is recommended, or if it gets great reviews from a place I trust (NYT or NPR). Although neither of those places have ever reviewed my books, so maybe they're missing a few. Heh. But I do find that overhyped books (Chelsea Hander, anyone), usually put me off. Like overhyped films.
Finished the fourth Codex Alera book from Jim Butcher. Numbers five and six should arrive to my house this week. Until then I'll probably read one of Chelsea Handler's books.
Has finished Priced to Move - Ginny Aiken. Now I think I am going to read Destined to Feel - Indigo Bloome.
Just finished Destined to Feel - Indigo Bloome. Now I am about to embark on Midnight Alley - Rachel Caine.
