I totally get it. I have read some really bad series for this exact reason. It would seem that I can't give up the hope that they will turn out to be not so sucky in the end. NEVER HAPPENS.

Twelve American Poets, an old book from a sidewalk sale. Still working on The Worm Ouroboros. Rereading Contemplating Music: Challenges to Musicology before I have to return it to the library.

Alias Reader (aliasreader) I'm currently reading The Psychopath Test: A Journey Through the Madness Industry~~Jon Ronson

The story line is a bit jumpy but it's interesting.

I started Desperate Remedies by Thomas Hardy. It was running along in a very normal vein until suddenly there is some very weird lesbian action between a 46 year old woman and her 18 year old maid. In the endnotes it says Hardy changed some of the wording for later editions, because he was surprised people found it Sapphic. Uh huh.

message 3076: by Louise (new)

Louise I'm reading Snow Crash it's cool! (and weird :-)

message 3077: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments I am having the hardest time picking my next book. I have been reading non-stop since Feb. and I think I may have hit the wall. I have tried to start 4 different books and they hold no interest to me. I am not happy about this.

message 3078: by [deleted user] (new)

What was the last book you read, Susan? And, did you love it?

message 3079: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments Stealing the Dragon by Tim Maleeny. I did enjoy it. Love would be too strong. It was a pleasant surprise from my list of free downloaded books.

message 3080: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, never mind. Usually when I really love a book/series I have a hard time settling down to another read when it's over.

message 3081: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments I agree. It can be very hard to follow a good act. Plus, I find it hard to break off the hug I am placing on the book that I have finished and loved.

message 3098: by [deleted user] (new)

:) You're great. You just need to watch your placement a bit more. Take advantage of the extra points, but also watch that you don't give me the opportunity to take advantage of them, if you can help it. I'll put a crappy word on a triple word score before I'll leave it open for you. ;)
