Looking forward to hearing about it, Barb.

Go ahead and get down tonight, Barb!

Jinx!

message 3007: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) I finished reading A Life For A Life - Tim Ellis and now I am going to embark on reading Road Closed - Leigh Russell.

message 3008: by Chris (new)

Chris (bibliophile85) Just finished Exquisite Corpse by Poppy Z Brite and started on The Road by Cormac McCarthy last night.

.....I just noticed I have been on a very bleak and depressing reading frenzy lately.....it doesn't gel with my laid back nature so what gives? lol

message 3009: by [deleted user] (last edited Nov 09, 2012 08:44AM) (new)

Yes, The Road is a bit dire, but it's good. It was a great book, but not exactly in the "feel good" genre.

Black (Books of History Chronicles The Circle, #1) by Ted Dekker

I'm about 50 pages in, but it's still feeling a bit random so far. My niece assures me it's worth the effort when it comes together.

message 3010: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments I love The Road. But I love almost anything with cannibals in it.

message 3011: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) You do not.

message 3012: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments As long as it's a book I do.

message 3013: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Oh okay.

The Road was terrifying.

Sounds like me....I have a morbid curiosity about such things as well.

Probably explains why I own several True Crime books dealing with the subject. Just finished one on Issei Sagawa not too long ago....very demented man....fascinating, but nuttier than squirrel shit.

message 3016: by Jammies (new)

Jammies Just finished Bitter Blood and am currently re-reading The Book of Kells.

message 3018: by [deleted user] (new)

Good gravy!

*looks over at her 1 book she's managed to read so far...looks at the calendar.*

message 3019: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) I've read 79 books so far this year Amelia and that lot is just hopefully for this month (maybe more if I can squeeze any in) x

message 3020: by [deleted user] (new)

Good for you! I'm rather inconsistent. Sometimes I read voraciously, and others I get just as into something else, movies, crafting, painting etc. But, it changes.

I'm trying to read 52 books for the year, and I'm 2 or maybe 3 now behind schedule. Not good this close to the end of the year!

message 3021: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) I have confidence in you that you will hit the quota x

message 3022: by [deleted user] (new)

What book I am trying to read makes a difference. Since we're going down to see my husband's side of the family over Christmas I'm trying I read the books my niece recommended last March. :). An Abundance of Katherines was short and good. That was easy. But, so far the first book in The Circle Series if proving harder to get into. It's really odd and fragmented so far. She assures me it's worth it.

*has visions of struggling through 800 pages of George R R Martin before it all made sense*

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments My friends keep recommending books for me to read. I just finished a book over the weekend that my friend Lauryn's been insisting I read for the past year. It really was great - The Fault In Our Stars.

My current read is 20th Century Ghost Stories by Joe Hill, a series of short horror stories. I just finished Abraham's Boys. I loved it.

I read The Fault in Our Stars and really enjoyed it. Have you read any of John Green's other books? I'd like to read more of his stuff but I'm having trouble deciding which one to read next.

I only just discovered him in the past week, so to answer your question... no, not yet. Let me know if you figure out what you'll be reading next of his, though. :)

message 3034: by Chris (new)

Chris (bibliophile85) Finished The Road (Wonderful book by the way!) and have moved on to The House of Night series at a friend's request.

....they are not so wonderful.....they are quite annoying as a matter of fact. Problem is once I start a book or a series, I must read it through its entirety. Curse my OCD!

message 3035: by [deleted user] (new)

Christopher, I used to do that...but as I've gotten older and feel more and more that "life is short", I've gotten better about it. :) It has only been in the last year or two that I have been able to say, "no, this really just isn't worth my time" and put a book down. Forever.

(Go to the Election thread, there's a question I've been meaning to ask you.)

message 3036: by Chris (new)

Chris (bibliophile85) Will do Amelia :)

message 3037: by [deleted user] (new)

Sorry, I just finally got there to ask it.

Chris (bibliophile85) Picked up and have begun reading Sylvia Plath's The Bell Jar

Abandoned House of Night.....it was just too much for me. Like crossing Harry Potter with Twilight....yeesh ;)

I have a copy, have had a copy for probably 4-5 years, and I just can't bring myself to read it...
