Murder in Punch Lane by Jane Sullivan
With such a stunning cover and title, I expected far more from this Aussie murder mystery based on true facts. it wasn't bad, but it certainly could have done better.

A worthy sequel to the first book. Much recommend this MG graphic novel series.

Tamara Agha-Jaffar | 1426 comments I read Actress by Anne Enright.
A subtle and moving portrait of two generations of women. The novel unfolds in the first-person voice of the daughter as she tells the story of her famous movie star mother. It is told in the engaging and seemingly effortless prose of Anne Enright.

Let the Purring Begin Sapphire's Tale by Sallie Cochren
A sweet little indie book that will work for all cat lovers, aged middle-grade upwards.

Ocultos by Laura Pérez
A graphic short story collection that was too weird and surreal for my liking.

Tamara Agha-Jaffar | 1426 comments I read Birnam Wood by Eleanor Catton. It's a political thriller about an activist environmental group and a billionaire manufacturer of drones and surveillance equipment. It starts slowly and gradually builds up speed with the last section moving at a break-neck pace. The characters were somewhat stereotypical and excessive exposition weighed it down. But I quite enjoyed it.

Rosh ~catching up slowly~ (roshreviews) | 425 comments Two Doors Down by Mary Hargreaves
Two Doors Down by Mary Hargreaves
A good book, but not at all a romcom as advertised. Thankfully, I like drama better than romcoms, so it worked well for me.

Widow Fantasies by Hollay Ghadery
A slice-of-life short story collection with a strong feminist theme. Might have worked better for me had I liked slice-of-life, but for those who like this style, it is a great option.

Celestial Monsters (The Sunbearer Duology, #2) by Aiden Thomas
The second book of the Sunbearer duology and a worthy continuation. Worked pretty much as a YA Fantasy should.

Beneath The Trees Where Nobody Sees (Beneath The Trees Where Nobody Sees, #1) by Patrick Horvath
This is one creepy graphic novel. Don't be fooled by the pastel colours on the cover. This is strictly for adults.

A historical fiction with an uncommon topic. I expected a grittier read, but it was decent nonetheless.

Tamara Agha-Jaffar | 1426 comments I read Silken Gazelles by Jokha Alharthi; translated from the Arabic by Marilyn Booth. Very disappointing. I enjoyed AlHarthi's Celestial Bodies, but I guess this one just wasn't for me.

The Phoenix Keeper by S.A. MacLean
Though an adult fantasy, it was written in a YA style, with a whiny, self-centred protagonist. No surprise that it didn't work for me.
