I've finished a book that has interested me a lot, still I have big doubts: Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry.

If interested, here's my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Tamara Agha-Jaffar | 1426 comments I read My Grandmother's Braid by Alina Bronsky; translated from the German by Tim Mohr. Her portrayal of the grandmother as a complex figure was very well done although this was not my favorite novel of hers.
My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I think I've read all of Bronsky's novels that have been translated into English. I enjoy her sense of humor and use of irony. My favorite is still Baba Dunja's Last Love.

Not gonna lie, I had a jolly good time writing this review, which compensated for how bored I was while reading the book.

Her Lonely Soul (DI Tessa Burns #3) by S.A. Dunphy
The weakest book in the Tessa Burns series for me, though it had its good moments.

The Solitary Sparrow (The Margaret Chronicles, #1) by Lorraine Norwood
It takes some time to get into this indie novel, and it has some flaws as well, but overall, it does offer an interesting plot.

Tamara Agha-Jaffar | 1426 comments I read All the Light We Cannot See a while back and really loved it. Based on the recommendations of folks on another list, I picked up Four Seasons in Rome: On Twins, Insomnia, and the Biggest Funeral in the History of the World by Anthony Doerr. I'm so glad I did. It was wonderful. A combination of a memoir and travelogue. Doerr is such a talented writer.

A charming old-world clean romance. I don't often pick up romance books, but make an exception for a few authors. Rachel Fordham is one of them.

Both plot and cast of characters will remain with me for a long time to come and I will probably revise my rating upwards when I have thought more about it. 💖📚

While this is getting mixed reviews, it actually worked pretty well for me. Don't expect a faithful Narnia retelling. Great for portal fantasy lovers.

Tamara Agha-Jaffar | 1426 comments I read About Grace by Anthony Doerr. A little disappointing. I think he goes overboard with lyrical description of natural elements at the expense of narrative flow. Some parts dragged.
