It was an idea that had been dwelling on the edge of my imagination for a long time and the more I thought about it, the more details began to fill in. (less)

The girl’s disappearance changed the way I viewed life and remained a mystery for almost ten years. Her body was discover only a few hundred metres from that bus stop, buried under concrete at the back of a shop. A place I’d passed hundreds of times, alone and with friends.

Even though the mystery has been solved, it’s still a haunting event. On occasion, I still pass that shop. I think of that girl, still fourteen in my memory and wonder, why her? Why that day? Was she the first?

I write thrillers, trying to assemble the questions and answers into something that’s entertaining and as real as I dare make them. (less)

Something She's Not Telling Us by Darcey Bell
"Well this was a fast and entertaining read, brimming with unreliable characters. I just predicted early on what was happening and it flopped for me a bit. I would recommend for someone looking for a fast read though, or just looking to start dipping " Read more of this review »

"This didn't quite work for me, but what a gorgeous cover, am I right?

The premise was intriguing, a man who catalogs lost items passes away leaving everything behind to Laura, she carries on his mission and reunites a long lost mystery. I just didn't " Read more of this review »

“When Lee looked at her, Mina didn’t see a monster reflected back in his eyes, just a woman. Being with him made it possible to believe there was more to her than the terrible things she’d done.”

“Don’t try to figure out what other people want to hear from you; figure out what you have to say. It’s the one and only thing you have to offer.”

“As any psychiatrist will tell you, it is a fact of life, a psychological home truth, that every human being from Mother Teresa to Jack the Ripper operates from the same basic needs, using the same basic defenses, and accessing the same basic pool of emotions as every other human being. Deep down below the surface, we all want to be safe, we all want to be loved, and we all want to be respected. (15)”

Jonathan Nasaw, The World on Blood

“The little office, scarcely large enough to contain Dr. Irene’s desk at one end and the couch at the other, held a world of memories for Lily. Here, fifty minutes at a time, two or three times a week, she’d spilled out her hopes and fears, her childhood nightmares and adolescent insecurities – in a sense, she’d grown up in this room.”
Jonathan Nasaw, When She Was Bad
