The Amazing Race Team Challenge - Round 5 - Tracking/Q&A/Announcements

Our task is
Task 18 - 92. Read over 1500 pages in books set in the future or the past - teams decide.
1 - would a retelling of a fairytale be considered historical if it is still set in the original Grimm sort of time with Kings, Queens, Castles and courts? I was looking at the books in this series - The Hansel and Gretel Curse
2- Could a publication date of a book be used to label the book as "historical" if the book was contemporary for the time it was published. I'm thinking of books along these lines that are close to or over 25 years old from their pub date - such as Sea Swept

1 - I would need something to indicate that it is in fact historical. Just reading the precis did not indicate that - seemed more fantasy and that could be set in any time frame.
2 - I will allow this if the book was initially published over 25 years ago. Unfortunately the book you indicated is not quite over 25 years - it's close but not over.

Thanks Kat. Those both make sense - for both.
Thank you again!

Would a tag of “Futuristic” work for this task as the future?
And
Would Ilona Andrews Magic Bites series work for this task? It falls short of the 25 years in the future as it’s listed as Atlanta GA 2040 for the setting.
Thanks! Sorry to be a PITA on this one. We’re torn on which choice and trying to decide which side of history is better looking to us 🤣

As include in the details under the task:
‘Historical’ or ‘Futuristic’ tags will qualify depending on the selected time frame.
The Kate Daniels series will work if there is a futuristic or future tag - I looked at the first book and it does.

The Mystery of the Curiosities - there are two kindle editions with the same pub date. Which do I use?
Task 22 - 108. As a team, select a season and read a minimum of 1500 pages of books set in that season.
Is this enough proof of wintertime? The story is set in New York City. From the book description - "With Valentine’s Day around the corner, "

Is snow on the cover enough of a qualifier for Winter?

For the book, you can use either 200 or 220 for the page count. If there are multiple books released on the initial publication date or that are the earliest dated English language Kindle editions, you are free to use any of the page counts. (Though I'm guessing you want to use 220. 😉)
Mentioning Valentine's Day in the precis is going to work to prove the winter season.

Is snow on the cover enough of a qualifier for Winter?"
Not necessarily. I can envision a cover with snow on the mountain in the background and the couple standing in a field of flowers - that would not work. Feel free to ask about a specific cover here or in a message. 😊

I've noticed a higher than normal number of page count errors and I suspect many of them are copy/paste errors. I am going to suggest that everyone create a BLANK template than you use for every completion post! DO NOT copy a previous post! DO NOT copy teammate's post! Start EVERY completion post from the blank template! This will help eliminate copy/paste errors along with missing components in a completion post.
Please make sure EVERY Completion Post contains the following:
● Book/Cover with link.
● First Edition Kindle Page Count.
● How book qualified, with links or cover as necessary.
● Date Completed.
● Rating/Review.

You can use that."
Yay! I'm trying to use books I already have checked out in KU. I can't be the only one that got excited when the limit raised to 20, only to find out that it's just as easy to keep 20 spots constantly full as it was to keep 10 full, right?

For task 88 we chose car on cover. Would the steering wheel in the top poster be enough?

No, it would need to represent an actual car.

I've been dealing with double vision and it is really troublesome this morning. I just want to make sure I didn't miss anything. It has also made checking completions difficult, so I will try again later.
Personally, I'm just glad for audiobooks!
