MountainKat | 31593 comments ‼️ PLEASE TAKE NOTE! ‼️

With the challenge ending on Wednesday, June 8th, there will a minor change to the last task. Beginning on Monday, June 6th, when teams post their completions and get a new task, they will all get the same task. For this task, instead of just completing it, you will continue reading to add to the total number of books read for your team. There will be no passes for the last task and to complete it, every team member must complete a book for the task and contribute to the overall book count. So, the task is considered ‘completed’ when every team member has read one book for the task, but you can continue reading in order to increase your overall book count for the task in case that is needed for a tie breaker. In the event that two or more teams are tied based on the number of tasks completed, the team with the highest book count will win The Amazing Race Team Challenge!

**Remember if your completion posts are incomplete or have the wrong page count, your books will not count. So help each other out by checking the posts!**

‼️ If your page count comes from a Kindle edition published on the initial publication date on the editions page, it will count. If your page count comes from a Kindle edition labeled '1st edition', it will count. If your page count comes from the earliest dated English language Kindle edition, it will count. I am looking for one of those three things when confirming your books! As long the page count you list is correct, I will accept any link to the book. ‼️

Lisa (mooselover) | 2724 comments MK, just to confirm, my team is due to get a new task on Sunday and then another on Tuesday with only 24 hours to complete. Am I understanding that correctly. Due to the time difference and Wednesday being a work day, it might be difficult to complete.
Does this mean teams with non US based players are at a disadvantage with less reading time?

This is the way we've done it all along, I added an extra day several rounds ago to keep things more fair. (Otherwise teams could make up an extra task at the finish.) You will not have only 24 hours, it will be over 36 hours to complete the last task if you finish the prior task as usual. And everyone will have those same 36+ hours no matter where they are located, though I do not expect that anyone will be able to read the entire time. Not to mention that of the four leading teams, three have multiple international players, as do many of the other teams in the challenge.

There is no way that I am aware of to accommodate for differences in locations for everyone. It's as fair as I know how to make it.

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Hi Kat - the challenges finishes on Wednesday 8th June - is that at the end of Wednesday (eg 11.59pm), or the start (12.00am as soon as Wednesday kicks in)?

And are we working to US EST?

(My brain is trying to work out my time differences without much success!)

Thanks!

The challenge ends as Wednesday ends US EDT. There are four full days left plus a few hours remaining.

Your team (and the other leading teams) can get your next task tomorrow, Sunday, morning - my time. And then get the last task Tuesday morning, again my time. That will give approximately 36 hours to complete the last task and read additional books for the tiebreaker.

MountainKat | 31593 comments I believe the tracking at the beginning of this thread is current, please let me know if something is missed! That is where you can see where you stand in comparison to other teams and determine if you need/want to read for the tie breaking in the last task.

Beginning tomorrow, teams that complete their current task will receive the last task. 😊

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Hi Kat - for our task:
105. Each teammate lists two favorite authors. Select books written by the authors on two different teammate's list and read books by those authors. (Two books each per teammate.) No pass for this task.

Can each teammate read a different two authors, each from a different team mate? Or is this a team decision?

(I think I'm over-thinking it!! It doesn't say team decision, so I'll just pick two different authors...)

You are to read two different books from two different teammate's favorite authors. Not a team decision, you can each read from different teammates.

The books selected can be written with another author as long as one of your teammates lists one of the authors as a favorite.

MountainKat | 31593 comments Just a reminder for everyone - there is no need to post a completion post for your team as I will be checking all the team threads when the challenge ends!

Also, any completion post without all required elements and a correct page count will not count for the last task. Help each other out and double check the completion posts!

I will be gone all day tomorrow - hubby is getting blacked out for the summer this week. If your team finishes their current task (not the last task) and wishes to continue reading until the challenge ends at midnight tomorrow, Wednesday, night - you can check HERE for the last task. 😊

Avigail (avigailr) | 663 comments Kat, thanks once again for a fantastic challenge. Through The Amazing Race, I have made good friends with a lot of support. Read books that I had on my TBR, even though I tried to borrow from the library, KU, audible, and even Scribd. Through this challenge, I found new authors and returned to work with authors that are present to revisit their writings.
Good job to all the teams and the activeness that this reading challenge is managing. To my teammates Hazel, Kathy & Sass you are fantastic partners, and I enjoy every minute of our friendship. Looking forward to the next round to do this challenge together once again.
