TART Challenge - Round 4 - Have Book...Can Travel (3)

This was Hallmark movie cheesy and honestly sometimes I would be in the mood for that but it just wasn't doing it for me. Everything was telegraphed from so far away that I could have written the story myself.
But, I powered through because I needed it for a challenge. Otherwise it would have been DNF for me. Obviously, I won't be continuing on with this series. I didn't give this one star because I thought the narration was decent, so I bumped it up because of that.
I've never read anything by this author before so I'm not sure I will chance another.

Did you recommend that, Hazel! No worries I can't expect them all to be winners. I was wondering how I ended up with that on my TBR. Alot of my goodreads friends loved it so I figured I got it from one of them!!!
I want to read the one you read for this round. It sounds good!

That Forever Girl by Meghan Quinn

Review: That Forever Girl is the second installment of the Getting Lucky series. For me, it is a 4.5-stars book.
I liked how Meghan Quinn brought Harper & Rogan's past story to intertwine with the story's current time. Rogan and Harper were best friends turned sweethearts until something splits the two apart. You spend most of the book having their story unfold with flashbacks and present-day interaction.
The banter and fun between Rogan and Harper are great. I loved the dialogue and the text messages, and with Quinn's signature humor, many moments had me laughing out loud, and others had teary eyes.
I think it's safe to say that I love the Knightly family. One of my favorite parts of the book is hilarious texting banter between the brothers is, and when you throw their sister in there for good measure, it's even better. I can't wait to see who gets their story next!

Sass, I think I liked the second book a little more than the first one. I for sure enjoy Meghan Quinn's writing. Looking forward reading her other series and standalones.

Hazel, The Paper Magician series is a good one if you want to start with steampunk fantasy.

How it qualifies:

Review: I loved everything about this book. Headstrong Lilly is determined never to marry after being jilted at the altar. She then has a not very satisfying liaison with a man who then abducts their daughter. Back in London she is renowned for her unladylike behaviour. She meets her match in Lord Raiford who is engaged to marry her sister although her sister is in love with someone else. The 2 of them are brilliant in the way they set out to outwit the other and I love the conclusion. Another great Kleypas novel!

So you are using your pass?"
I think you were posting at the same time as me. That’s great if you are already reading. If you finish tonight would you be able to post our completion then. I think Kathy will need to use her pass.

I hate to do it, but yes...I have to pass on this task... =(

This was cute, I liked that even though this was the "my best friend will kill me if I date his sister trope", Tyler was a man about things. That's unusual in these stories. The relationship moved a little too quickly for me. But I really liked seeing this family and friends get their HEAs. It broke my heart that Regan had to go through what she did with her baby. Every mother's worst nightmare!
I'm looking forward to listening to more of these stories. I love that Callie Dalton was narrating this one. I love her!

I put off reading this book for a while because I mainly try to listen to my books these days due to time constraints.
Well, I was able to get this book on audio and my goodness! I so enjoyed this book. I really did. It was such a good story, had some good laughs and I just fell in love with the members of the band.
I was scared at the end when the first scene of the book made sense, but I'm so glad that it all worked out. And I was engrossed in every single second of it.
I can't wait to continue with this series. I find it odd though that Scottie is the next book...interesting!

The Initiation by Nikki Sloane

Pages: 177
How it fits: It is the first book of The Filthy Rich Americans series.
Date completed: October 14, 2021
Rating: 4 ⭐
Review: The Initiation is a modern retailing of a couple of Greek mythologies. As I grew up with those myths, it is an interesting take.
There's plenty of sex, and there is a relationship to navigate. But it's a relationship built on lust and power.
The writing a solid; the characters are interesting. I liked Marist and Royce As characters, and McAllister is a perfect villain. I even wanted the dubious consent, which for those who need the warnings, this book has a crap ton of questionable consent. The approval was never so unlikely that it stepped over the line. In the end, Marist had some say.
I did not see the ending playing out as it did at all, and I usually can see it coming but not this time. I am for sure will be reading the second installment of the 'Filthy Rich Americans' series.

Review: My first venture into the Omegaverse and what a delicious and dirty ride it was! I loved this book. The roles of alpha, beta and omega are explained just right and doesn’t detract from the story. Dahlia an Omega is sold to an Alpha to pay off her Alpha father’s debts Nikolai Solokov is the alpha who gets her but no one knows he’s been plotting to get Dahlia for 15 years since they met as children. He is also out to get revenge on her father who he believes killed his mother and twin siblings.
This book has good strong characters, a vaguely mafia plot line, lots of steam and intensity. I will definitely be reading the next in the series.

Road to Desire, Piper Davenport – 10/14/21 – ✮✮✮✰✰
Kindle first-edition ➔ 192 pages
How the Book Qualifies ➔ book 1 in the Dogs of Fire series
Review — This wasn’t a bad book, but it wasn’t a great one either. The story was solid, but it was so rushed that there wasn’t enough character development to really care about the characters. Dani is over-the-top naïve and shows that she is the youngest child in her family with the tantrums she throws all the time. While Dani had some legitimate reasons to be upset with Austin/Booker, she didn’t handle herself well. Booker has so much potential to be a great alpha character, but again, he isn’t fully developed. We get a tiny piece of his history, but for the most part he comes off as a brute. I also think the author did a disservice by not giving Booker more of a voice in the story. Ms. Davenport may have created a stronger story and characters if she had concentrated just on Dani’s voice. Of the handful of times Booker’s voice is heard, he doesn’t add to the story or himself. I may return to learn more about the men of the Dogs of Fire, but I’m not in a hurry.

And on the list for a new task in the morning!

thanks Kat!

Sassafrass I started reading

I just finished Claimed by Evangeline Anderson; it is the book I picked for the Pass the Parcel challenge for this week's task.
Physical books I am reading are The Book of Fate by Parinoush Saniee & I am in the middle of Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson. The above books are for my current and past Meet & Greet challenges. I have to decide what to read for the following tasks as an e-book.

Thanks, Kathy, for checking us in. I hope you rest a little bit this weekend.
