I was curious about that one since it came out in a hardcover but hadn't picked it up. I am looking to check out Deadman Wonderland as my next manga. No nice hardcovers though. =(

I finished reading the third and final volume of East of West. I enjoyed the series and the ending felt like a good wrap up to me.

I'm in for the Sandman Books of Magic omni and the Eternaut 1969. I'd get the Deadman omni but I have (I think) all these stories in trade and not really wanting to double dip.

Continuing the X-Men kick from a few weeks back, today arrived Shattershot, Wedding of Cyclops and Phoenix, and Fatal Attractions OHCs. I'm slowly pulling together a nice looking X-Men shelf!

I'm seeing a claim out there in internet land that the DM cover (by McLeod) of New Mutants omnibus will be available next week on IST with the standard cover delayed one additional week.

The Saiyuki going as a HC is what made me pick it up. Usually manga that gets a HC turns out to be pretty good . . . Just not feeling this one. I’ve put it down but if someone who’s read much of it suggests I plow through to the good let, I may pick it up. As for now, I’d say pass on it.

Yeah, that sucks. I'd rather have the Sienkiewicz cover even though it's the standard.

I received my Eternals Complete Saga Omnibus the other day and I noticed on the spine it has the character picture at the bottom as opposed to no picture like all of the "classic" omnibus do (ASM, FF, UXM, Thor, etc.)

I kind of thought the "no picture" spine would be reserved for anything before a certain time frame (say 1986) but that doesn't seem so. The first issue of Eternals was 1976. Shang-Chi was in 1973 and it doesn't have the picture on the spine. The Silver Surfer is a new omnibus but the comic came out in 1968 and it has a no picture spine.

Just curious about their rhyme and reason.

I ordered myself Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind box set on amazon for Christmas. I've always been a fan of Studio Ghibli and figured it was high time I gave this a read. As a person who has never read manga, does anyone have any favorite series they can recommend? I have heard things like Castle in the Sky, Coda, and the Spire to be well-like graphic novels for Ghibli fans.

David - My cousin gave me both of those on VHS back in the day. They totally changed the way I see nature, youth, etc. To this day they are still two of my favorites. I had a chance to see both in the theatre last year during Ghibli fest. It was an amazing experience!

I’ve have the first two Klaus hardcovers and I loved them. Dan Mora’s art is awesome, and of course it’s Morrison. The hardcovers look great too, the page edges are sort of a glittery gold.

Definitely worth it, the books are fairly cheap and a quick read every holiday season. I got hooked on Dan Mora art from his Once and Future ongoing comic series.

As someone who has never read New Mutants but enjoys X-Men, should I grab the New Mutants Omni? Fomo has me wanting to get it but will it hold up as a first time modern read?

Haven't read it since it first came out back in the 80s, but remember enjoying it, if not as much as X-men. I think if you like Claremont from that era you'll dig it.

I collected it in its first run through about the 50th issue and imho it's a bit above average, the original group's power sets were initially not too compelling. I also never liked Mcleoud's art, but things pick up when Bill Sienkiewicz takes over and you get the Demon Bear, Hellions and Warlock arcs. You're right though, it will probably sell through, so now's the time. :)

Just ordered the newest Klaus book and New Mutants Omni from CGN. I’m not sure I’ll be into New Mutants but the nice thing about Omnis is you can always sell them and buy something else.

I kind of want the cosmic Donny Cates Omni but it’s so thin and I already have Silver Surfer Black in single issues. I had to show some self control and not order that one.

John, I had forgotten how much McLeod's art didn't resonate with me at the time. I think part of it, though, was the poor paper quality of comics in those days. Just seemed muddled and the coloring was not helpful, either. Interested in seeing how it will look on slicker paper.

I think I'm getting that Cates book. It popped up on my Amazon suggested list a few months ago and been waiting for it to get to IST/CGN ever since.

I just can’t justify paying that much for such a small book. It sets a precedent that I don’t want to give into. And I love Cates’ work, so it has nothing to do with that.

With my IST discount, I paid $56 for it, but yeah, that's a bit steep, considering some of DC's books are over 400 pages and only retail for $50.
