Some of you have followed my posts about collecting X-Men OHC/Omnibus and have given some great advice. One nugget was "buy cheap when you see them" (paraphrased).
So, I found an ebay seller that was selling several of my "These are going to COST me" books, but they were listed as auctions, and as I had some spare funds still, I decided to put bids on them just before I started work, and then check at tea-break and see how I'd done.
I know how much these books go for, and didn't want to go all-out crazy on them, so I put "moderate" bids on three books, thinking I might win one of them and lose out on the rest.
Anyway, long story short, checked my phone at tea-break and I'd won ALL THREE books with my "moderate" bids! (& I was only the second bidder, I think!)
so next week I'll be receiving:
X-Men: Fall of The Mutants Omnibus
X-Men: Inferno Prologue OHC
X-Men: X-tinction Agenda OHC
And I am so chuffed! (jumping cartwheels inside right now!!) :)
Congrats! Not only is it nice to get stuff you are hunting for but for a decent price and when you didn’t even expect to win.

I believe it does. I think they went the Squadron Supreme route: there's an omnibus of just the original series, then there is this new "Complete Saga" version which contains the original series and all of the other appearances of the characters. I remember reading the solicitation and being happy with what is included. I'm planning to get this one myself.
It's called "Eternals: The Complete Saga"
COLLECTING: ETERNALS (1976) #1-19, ETERNALS ANNUAL (1977) #1; ETERNALS (1985) #1-12; ETERNALS: THE HEROD FACTOR (1991) #1; NEW ETERNALS: APOCALYPSE NOW (2000) #1; IRON MAN ANNUAL (1971) #6; AVENGERS (1963) #246-248; material from WHAT IF? (1977) #23-30
I didn't realize there was a series in '85.
If you are referring to the Gaiman version I don't think there's anything else to include.

I'm going to read Astonishing X-Men in the garden with a bowl of Cherrios
Never read it before! I kinda just wait for DLX,OHC or Omins to come out because then I don't do any double-dipping.
And I've been waiting for this reprint for a looong time!

Congrats on the X-Men scores Antony! I really enjoyed the wolverine omnibus. Now that the first volume is reprinted I hope we finally get volume 2. I bought mine in 2009 so I'm on year 11 waiting for the second volume.
Nate, I hope you enjoy Astonishing. =)
I should be getting Kill or be Killed HC, Undiscovered Country TPB vol 1, and final volume Drifting Classroom vol 3 HC this coming Monday.
I read Kill or be Killed already and wanted to go ahead and add it to the Brubaker hardcover shelf and avoid it possibly going out of print.
I thought the second volume of Drifting Classroom was a step backwards in several aspects but interested in seeing how the story wraps up.
I do have another order pending with Immortal Hulk OHC 2 and Oblivion Song OHC vol 1, one of Kirkman's new series. Also picking up a couple more Vizbig editions of Vagabond.
Anyone read and have thoughts on the High-Rise Invasion manga?

I wonder if that will fix the production errors of the latest printing.
Rel,
I read Vegabond Omni 1 about 6 months ago and felt it was just so so, better stuff out there to read was my thought. If you’re last there, does it pick up? I assumed it was good given the format and the continued volumes vizmedia put out.
My orders are nearly identical to yours except I received those a week ago . . . Odd how drifting classroom changed the color scheme in book 3.
Kill or Be Killed DLX I grabbed in release months back. I’m pretty sure if Brubaker has a Hardcover, I have it and do have a shelf dedicated to him. Kindt gets a shelf too

I thought the first Vizbig Vagabond volume was more ok than great but I've heard tons of super positive reviews so I decided I would get further in to see if the hype is justified. My initial impression was that Blade of the Immortal was better so I finished off that series but now I'm going to go back and give Vagabond another look.
My copy of Berserk HC vol 5 was ordered day of release on 30 Jun and it has yet to be shipped with another book in the order still not picked yet.

Was hoping that Uncanny X-Force would have been on that list. Available in the US but seems to have been lost in the Corona War!

I'm between counties at the moment.
It's making Omni buying hard!
But I do have a great collection waiting in my shop when I do get back to the states!

In addition, my Batman Rebirth Book 2 Deluxe arrived (I love DCs Deluxes) and I ordered the hardcover of House of X/Power of X.
My collection is galloping but I'm not panicking yet! ;)

Shudder!
Always nice when they are packed well! Congrats on the great steal!
I lived on the wild side and ordered 3 books from Amazon over the weekend. And they came out okay! They even put some air bags in there.
Someone must have made a mistake!
I got The Ultimates Omni, History of the Marvel Universe Treasury Edition & Immortal Hulk OHC.
Heading to Forbidden Planet tomorrow where I’m hoping to pick up Immortal Hulk Vol 2.

Off-topic slightly, but I've never read more than an issue or two of any Hulk series. I heard Immortal Hulk was good and plan on trying Planet Hulk/World War Hulk someday. Enjoy FP tomorrow!

Also if you haven’t got the Absolute Swamp Thing yet, grab that!
Also, Vol 2 is listed at £28 on Amazon UK at the moment!
A mistake which I have capitalised on!
Immortal Hulk is great. I was not a fan of world war hulk and felt planet hulk was good, but mostly praised due to exploring new ground with the Hulk. Personally, some of my favorite hulk stories come from the early 2000’s where banner is really in his own head (always is though) and some great stories in there with writing for slightly more mature readers. I’d say start reading with what Marvel calls volume 2 for Incredible Hulk. You’ll be missing much from the 450+ issues from before it, but it’s not realistic to recommend someone start with issue 1 and push through
Agreed. WWH has a good buildup but I thought the ending was a let down. Planet Hulk was good but not outstanding. Just different like Erik said. There are some bright points in Peter David’s run but most are not in volume 1 of the omnibus.

I also read Loeb’s run, but I almost hated it.
Immortal Hulk looks great, should I wait for an omni?
I read the series will end at #50 so I think that’s at least a year from now. Since they are doing OHCs, it will probably be awhile after the last one of those before we see an omnibus. Just my guess. They don’t always put the omnibus out immediately after the run.

It's been an amazing week so far.

And in all the excitement at FB with entering through the back and one way systems in place, I forgot what I went in there for and missed out on Immortal Hulk OHC Vol 2!
Grabbed Spider-Man: The Gauntlet Complete Collection Vol 1 as it's getting pretty hard to find.
Hoping for an omni one day (I thnk it will happen) but this will do me for now
The gauntlet is something I’ve been hoping to get in HC also. But would just prefer an omnibus of that whole era.

Oh trust me, Spider-Man is (together with X-Men and the Avengers) Marvel's big seller. If you just wait long enough every Spider-Man comic will eventually be collected in Omnibus format.

Luckily my 2 faves (Spidey & Bats) are also the most popular.
So I'm hoping to have everything collected in OHC/ Omni one day.
I mean the spin offs don't help!
Went ahead and ordered the new Hellsing DLX vol 1 from IST yesterday. Also ordered a couple things off my wish list, BPRD Plague of Frogs TPB vol 2 and 3. I have the first volume in hardcover and want to read the series so I guess I'll have to break down and get the thick TPB volumes since the hardbacks don't appear to be coming back into print.
IST finally is shipping my copy of Berserk DLX vol 5 I ordered on 30 Jun. Another book in the order took a while for them to show it was picked. Not sure if they were waiting for more copies to arrive, it never showed it was out of stock (it was TIANANMEN 1989 Our Shattered Hopes HC).
Finished reading the Batman City of Crime DLX by David Lapham. I suspect this got the DLX treatment because of the villain being interesting (The Body). The story itself was depressing and is a strong contender for my least favorite Batman story.

I may finally start buying the Hellboy Library editions. IST doesn’t have V2 or 5. Are those regularly kept in print?
Also are the stories continuous, meaning it’s best to read them in order? Because aren’t they a series of mini series?

Excited for anyone reading them for the first time, beautiful books. Probably the best looking set on my shelf.
It's definitely best to read them in order. You're right that most are separate stories but Mignola starts to pepper some big things right from the start.
Have you read any BPRD?
If not, it might be worth doing a whole Mignolaverse readathon. It's not necessary to enjoy Hellboy but it makes it all the more sweeter!
I recently looked at several sites to see the Hellboy reading order and this was my favorite: http://www.multiversitycomics.com/ann...
They are a bunch of mini-series, some connected more clearly than others. The Library Editions are basically in chronological order. I'm planning on getting the upcoming Hellboy/BPRD Devil You Know Omnibus that comes after Hellboy in Hell and doing a read through in order to the best of my collection (I have all the Library Editions and most of the BPRD omnibus hardcovers, just lacking the Plague of Frogs 2-4).
The Library Editions are typically evergreen so when a volume goes out of stock they've usually brought them back with additional printings.
Side note: The Witcher Library Edition vol 1 is back in stock on IST. This went out of print for a while and shot up to $100+ on the secondary market. With the popularity of the show this could happen again so not a bad idea to grab it if it's something of interest.
The Hellsing DLX vol 1 is out of stock on IST.

BPRD is really great, you won't be disappointed if you jump on that as well.
I'm a huge fan of The X-Files and it's got that vibe.

It hasn't got that folktale and lore stuff that Hellboy has.
I'd say they compliment each other.
I’ve heard nothing but good things about both so really looking forward to reading them. Thanks for the reviews!
